Is there room for this in a two hour Toonami?
Anyway, do you know what this show's about?
From Anime News Network:
A source within Bandai has informed ANN that the release of Kikaider was delayed because the show will be airing on Cartoon Network in June; however official Bandai rep, Jerry Chu, would not comment on the issue. Kikaider, by the way is based on Kikaida, a live action show that was hugely popular in Hawaii.

[indent]Anime News Network doesn't seem to have anything on it in their encyclopedia.
Bandai announced the acquisition of it back when they acquired .hack//SIGN and a few other titles.
Hm...
Saturday night perhaps...?
This two hour block is really going to cause problems.

Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, "May you never bear fruit again!" Immediately the tree withered.

[indent]I did a quick search and here's what I have dug up so far:

There's a DVD cover and a short description. It definitely seems more suited for Toonami than AS.
sounds like a great fit. I hope the CN annual press release is released soon and says they got it.
Looks pretty good, but where can they put it, theyre block is jammed packed unless they make one of those last minute decisions....Cartoon Network always tends to do that. They ALWAYS change their schedule.

well, if the release is being pushed all the way to june, we wouldn't know where it was going to be on Toonami until march or april. by june, the block could be back 3 hours with kikaider and hack://sign as on at 4 and 4:30.Originally posted by Gogeta

"The advance is hip right now, but the original has a place in my heart, unlike pocket which only had the plastic grey, though color had killer appies for things like the sewing machine, not much use for virtual anymore, huh."
I bet it'll go at 5:30 in G-Gundam's spot. Or, maybe we'll get lucky and get it to replace Armada.
I'd just like to point out that, bizarrely enough, DarkMaster said that this was coming to Toonami something like over a year ago...before Bandai had even announced they had licensed it.
Strange but true.
Here in Hawaii, the original '70s live action show Kikaida is going through a very strong revival. So, I'm really curious to see how the anime is different from the live action plotline. It'd make a really good fit for Toonami.Kikaider, by the way is based on Kikaida, a live action show that was hugely popular in Hawaii.

It was printed on a schedule that changed when new dragonball arrived. That's when i noticed it.
Huh. Interesting. Guess Bandai's been planning to get this on TV for some time.
Cool Kikaida on CN.
I've been wanting to see this one.

Stop by Japan Hero sometime near the end of the week and we should have a clip up from it and some screenshots.
I know next to nothing about it, except that it's based off the live action series Kikaider and Kikaider 01, which looks weird even for my live-action tastes.
This is a pretty big classic amoung the "hardcore" Japan Hero Fans, so I guess it must be pretty good. From the few screen shots I've seen, it looks alot like the animation behind Giant Robo.
Lastly I got a well written article called Living in Japan that also speaks pretty highly of the series that you might wanna check out.
I'll bring more as I find it!
EDIT:
Found more!

The series is almost certainly going to Adult Swim. It's EXTREMELY grim and rather violent. Toonami airings would require rather extensive editing and rewriting, IMO.
It's aggressively digital, but the character designs and battle animation are absolutely awesome. I've been waiting for this one for quite awhile, it's DAMN good.
It's not based on the live-action show, but on the manga that also spun off the live-action show. So the mood isn't the same (the live-action show is quite a bit campier). It's downbeat and intellectual.
I can hardly wait.
