    [TV-Y7FV]

    Monday-Friday, 6 p.m. (e/p),
    starting September 10

Finally, the news Toonami fans have been waiting for: Starting Monday, September 10, Cartoon Network will begin airing 96 episodes of Dragonball Z that have never before been seen on U.S. television. These new episodes of Dragonball Z encompass the King Kai Saga and the Majin Buu Saga and continue the story of Goku, who, along with his son Gohan and a handful of friends, defends the Earth against the deadly forces of the mighty Saiyans.

So I'm forced to say "umm... ok".

    DBZ = Dragonball Z

Don't get me wrong, I like DBZ and plan on watching the new season. It's just that after almost 6 months of new episodes once the last of the 96 ep's airs (right around Feb.) it's all going to be over. Just repeats until '03 when they get around to GT.

    Thank you, Mr Obsession

Thank you for the name of the toon series. I do not have cartoon network yet, and have never seen a single ep. Don't know what it is about..but if someone paid for 96 eps, it must be worth watching...Good luck...oldtoonguy

CN just paid for the broadcast rights for the remaining 96 episodes because DBZ is one of the networks highest rated shows.

I believe there were something like 251 episodes done in Japan, around 180 (or so) of the original Dragonball, and something like 80 of GT.

What is DBZ about? The simple answer is martial artists fighting to save the world.

I have seen a couple of films done in this style. Don't know much about it..Presently, I have a , wrapped ,never opened, VCR copy, of Princess Monokee,(not sure of spelling) which is supposed to one of the true classics of Japnaese Animation. Perhaps, now, this will motivate me to watch it . Best of Luck, thanks

I think the commercial I saw on TV said 46 new episodes. Maybe the folks over there read a 4 as a 9?

I just saw a commercial that said 43 episodes. A smart business move if you ask me, keeps the franchise going and it give the fans something to look forward to. Much better than burning it out all at once.

edit: The info I posted above came from the offical CN webpage. But like I just said showing 43 makes more sense than showing all 96 right away.

The person who wrote this doesn't know what he's talking about. There is no Kaio-sama saga, and the fight with the Saiya-jin's took place years before the Majin Buu saga happened.

    SEEN DBZ, Semi SPOILER

Be that as it may, I saw the first episode today and it wasn't half bad. SMALL SPOILER AHEAD!

    Spoiler:
It was kind of strange (yet equally humorous) at this one point on Snake Way when Goku ran off, then forgot something, so he ran back. But the weird part was, he ran back....backwards. Like they just ran the animation backwards. It was funny though, cuz when he ran past Gregory and Bubble's on either run he'd say "Hi guys!" or "Buy guys!"

I like how things are going so far, and it doesn't seem AS dragged on as the past sagas were, so that makes me happy. Then again, the characters already won me over back in the twitchy animation and drawn out story line days, so I guess they could do their worst and it wouldn't phase me much. Not that I"m asking for it though, of course.

DBZ is guilty pleasure, not a Princess Mononoke-like artistic effort. It's worth a look, but judging from your tastes, DBZ doesn't seem to groove on the same lane as you do.

    characters already won me over
Yep, people will always seem to like DBZ more if they watch DB. I must say that the dub of DB is quite well done (especialy since they kep the Japanese score, I just wish Toonami would quit shorting the ending theme). Wasn't today's the eppy where Son Gokou and Krillen went to find the rock that Kame-sennin threw into the woods?

And I think the person who wrote that was speaking of the outer-world tournament. I mean, for someone who hasn't seen all the Japenese episodes fansubbed thousands of times over already, it could be mistaken for a Kai saga, at least judging from the first ep.

Guys, next time don't be so snide with people who are "uninitiated." I see the same thing in comic shops, and it just hurts the industries, by keeping people away. So what if they're new, and don't know everything about anime yet. If you're going to correct them, at least don't use terms like "retards."

Anyhow, I thought the first episode was pretty good, although they teased us with shots of Goten and Gohan training on the commercial bumpers.

Yup, it was. I'm really liking DB, as much if not more than DBZ.

Oh, I didn't mean to come off sounding that way, I just don't want anybody to be misinformed about things like that.

That's good, everybody who see's DB most of the time ends up likeing it more then DBZ (the same happened with me).

International Channel. Maybe you don't have it.

Whatever, they're stupid. They always split everything up into mini sagas. There are 4 sagas: Saiyajin, Furiiza, Cell, Buu.

As a matter of fact, I don't. This is the first I've heard of it.

    Calm down

Okay, let's calm down. We're all on edge for good reason right now. But we can't let the bad blood we're feeling right now about the WTC/Pentagon atrocities spill over into our on-topic discussions.

I can't tell from the context who is being called "stupid" here, because the original quote lacks an identification and context. Still, it's probably not a good idea to be tossing that word around. If there is a mistake in that quote, it's better just to set the record straight than to attack the person who made it, even if they are not a member of the boards.
