In 2003 will Toonami have a more diverse action line up

    Like This Thread!
There was a time when their was a show on Toonami for every one. DBZ, Batman, Superman, Tenchi, Outlaw Star, Big O, Sailor moon and others. But now it's just DBZ and DB. Though today's schedule is good, will we get more quality cartoons. I hope 2003 is good for us Toonami fans.

Even tho I didn't watch it, I definately miss the Girl Power flavor that the Scouts brought to the block.

No brainer awesome action of DBZ.

Sofisticated, stylized story telling of Big O.

    War drama of Gundam Wing.

    Adventure of Outlaw Star

And the love triangels of Tenchi..... those were the days.

Not to mention the classic American flavor that Batman and Superman brought.

    Yeah, I miss the mix.

There's still diversity out there if Toonami is willing to go for it. If they don't, they may find it on some competitor's channel one of these days.

I bet 2003 will be more of the same. Giant robots and fights so fast you can't see.

The mix was really awesome. Not a day went by that I wasn't digging Toonami. Now I just fall asleep after watching Zoids.

Makes me miss Gundam Wing and especially Big O.

    3.0 . Batman
    3.5 . Swat Kats

    Toonami

    4.0 Transformers: Armada
    4.5 He-man
    5.0 .hack/sign
    5.5 Shaman King
    6.0 Dragonball
    6.5 Dragonball Z

Maybe, but I expect the current lineup to continue for a LONG time.

If .hack//SIGN and One Piece do end up coming to Toonami, they will certainly bring a different flavor then giant robots and fights so fast you can't see.

More Robots just less of Gundam...

The Zone of the Enders anime has Toonami written all over it, I can definitely see it on Toonami someday. That and .Hack//SIGN, both of these animes have video game counterparts that are being released next year too.

I'm really hoping Toonami will diversify the lineup next year with One Piece and .Hack//SIGN. Have these even been confirmed as going to Toonami?

One Piece Has Not Had Any Official Confirmation From CN Or Funi, But I Already Consider It As A Part Of Toonami. I Mean, Where Else COULD It Go?

.hack? Well, The TV Series Is Coming To The US In 2003, And It's Great Toonami Material. (Don't Go All "But What About TechTv?" On Me)
    WATCH PARANOIA AGENT

    ...please?

[indent]Toonami still has the diversity, especially with the revamp the schedule had today, it's just a little different. It can't always have the same diversity as no two shows are the same and the shows that are available are always changing.

Zoids has a little bit of everything that goodness is made of and it's the best show John Crichton isn't watching. Lots of action, although it is really focused on the characters. One of the more serious shows on the block, but not without humor, considering it doesn't have the cheziness of G Gundam.

G Gundam is the most over-the-top giant robot goodness ever made.

He-Man brings the classic old school goodness rewritten for today and made better than ever.

Transfomers is slowly getting better and some people seem to like it.

Dragonball cranks up the humor level and shows the fun side of the DB/Z/GT saga. It may have many of the same characters, but it is really nothing like DBZ as evidenced by the number who love one show, but can't stand the other.

As always, DBZ fills in the DBZ part of the factor.

[indent]It may not be the same diversity we had in the past, but that doesn't mean this schedule isn't diverse also. None of the shows on the block are really anything alike. Finally, He-Man and Transformers can't last in the weekday rotation too much longer with their low episode counts. They have already exceeded the amount of time most similar shows are allowed to remain. More change is more than likely on the way.

C'mon now...... I think Zoids CC is a great show.... Really... I do. FOR ME TO POOP ON!!!!!

Tell Fiona to get a brain, stop playing that happy-dappy music when my robots are fighting, and maybe I'd watch the show. If it had the music and fight choreography that Zoids Zero had then I'd be all over it.

I'm glad everyone else likes it tho.....

i just had to mention, .hack//SIGN has little-to-no action at all. 98.99% of the show, they talk (which is one of the reasons why i like the show ^_^)

You do realize that Fiona's "what's that" phase only really lasts for the first few episodes don't you JC?

I fully agree with you that No Future makes better battle BGM then Wild Roses and that /0's got fight choreography in spades. But remember, you didn't think /0 was that hot until around the time episode 5 aired, then you proclaimed it to be one of the best Toonami caliber shows of all time.

Come on JC, you watched Sailor Moon and Cardcaptors on Toonami, you stuck it through the dark era of Power Rangers. Can't you stick it out with Zoids: Chaotic Century for awhile and see if it's actually worth the noise it's been getting?

Zoids and G Gundam will probaly be elegible to be replaced in May (Well, any time, but if they didn't want to screw the fans over, they'd give both two more runs). And they'll probaly have Hack sign ready by then. He-man will have the 26 episodes done by March. and 26 episodes go by fast. So they could get Hack earlier than May. And revive Mobile Suit Gundam then too then replace it with One Piece in the fall. DB and DBZ will never leave. and unless Armada goes 5 premires a week. It's not either. So the only new thing I see is a Toonami on Saturday Nights in the Spring. With Kid Buu saga, maybe ..hack//sign (I actually said it's real name now!) and revival of Batman: TAS, Superman: TAS, more GI Joe, and maybe Max Steel on Toonami.

If they give G Gundam and Zoids: CC two more runs each, G Gundam (49 episodes x 2 runs / 5 days a week = 19.6 weeks) will end around the end of April and Zoids (67 episodes x 2 runs /5 days a week = 26.8 weeks ) will end towards the end of June.

Volume 1 of .hack (the game) is scheduled to be released around mid-February. So if the show is indeed coming it will probably be around the beginning or the end of February.

Now assuming that both .hack and One Piece are both coming along with, lets say 2 completely secret acquisitions, because there has got to be more in the works then just 2 new shows (.hack & OP) for '03, I'd say we may be looking at something like this --

The current schedule stays like it is until February.

    Then in February:
    Monday - Thursday
    4.0 Zoids: CC (current run)
4.5 G Gundam (close to end of current run)
5.0 Return of a show that's been off the block for awhile, or rotation between He-Man and Armada
    5.5 .hack//sign (new)
    6.0 Dragonball (Repeats)
    6.5 DBZ (Repeats)

    Friday
    4.0 Zoids: CC (current run)
4.5 G Gundam (close to end of current run)
    5.0 He-Man (new)
    5.5 Armada (new)
    6.0 Dragonball (Repeats)
    6.5 DBZ (Repeats)

Then at the beginning of May we’d get a new line up:
    4.0 Zoids: CC (second run)
4.5 He-Man (the way it’s being run now, replaces G Gundam)
5.0 .hack//sign (new?/second run? How many episodes does the show have?)
5.5 Armada (the way it’s being run now)
    6.0 Dragonball (new season)
    6.5 DBZ (new "season"/last 14 episodes)

The 14 episode season of DBZ gets 3 runs then the show starts over with the first season.

At the end of June/beginning of July:
    4.0 Zoids/0 (replaces Zoids: CC)
4.5 Return of an older show/ unknown acquisition
    5.0 One Piece (replaces .hack//sign)
5.5 Armada (has more episodes than He-Man, so it lasts longer on the block)
    6.0 Dragonball (repeats)
    6.5 DBZ (repeats)

    Fall ’03
4.0 either Zoids: CC or an older Toonami show
    4.5 He-Man (season 2)
    5.0 One Piece
    5.5 unknown acquisition
    6.0 Dragonball (repeats)
    6.5 DBZ (repeats)

    I think that's a very wise prediction.

Thank goodness for the current schedule, but nonetheless, I, too, would be happy with a little more variety.
