this sounds similar to a disney channel problem.

Just a few more reasons to be angry...
By mayhem on Thursday, December 19, 2002 @ 8:38
I just posted the following on the message boards:
Hey everyone. I received this information confidentially - so yes I'm sure some of you will doubt it but I'm still posting it anyway.
It seems not all has been kosher at all. Apparently the real reason that CN dropped ReBoot was because of a falling out with Mainframe Entertainment (they're no longer on speaking terms). Cartoon Network originally ordered 10 episodes but ReBoot's crew got cut short by Mainframe's own suits before production finished. This resulted not only in 2 eps not being made that SHOULD have been (and are still technically owed to Cartoon Network by Mainframe), this resulted in the last minute changes in Season 4, causing it to be delivered LATE to Cartoon Network, and also causing the monster cliffhanger we all have come to hate.
So I guess we're back to hating MFE once again. The new heavyweights there are obviously the cause of the trouble and strife that us ReBoot fans have gone through - Ian, Gavin and Mairi would never have let it come to this I'm sure of it. It seems that our only real option is to get Mainframe to fess up and finish the two episodes that we deserve, or get the whole series shipped to a new company *cough*IanPearson'sTheShop*cough* for it to get a better treatment and hopefully a continuation.
*sigh* I don't want people to start sending off hate-mail to MFE or causing any trouble here. I think we need to start thinking of finding a way to either get those last two eps made, or find someone else to take over the series. I'm sure MFE won't mind giving it to someone else... the problem may lie in how much they want for it :-\
The world's 225 richest people now have a combined wealth of $1 trillion. That's equal to the combined annual income of the world's 2.5 billion poorest people.
Something to think about.

Not that I think you are making this up, but I question the validity of the source as what s/he says doesn't seem to jive with what Mairi said in the past.
According to this page they were contracted to do two 4 hour movies (8 episodes) and then they thought they were going to get 13 or possibly 26 episodes. A later post by Mairi stated that they ended up only being contracted for 8 episodes and that the 13/26 episodes deal fell through.
Mairi's post appears to be legit from all the other posts made.
If the contract was for 10 episodes, why would Mairi say they were only contracted for 8 episodes?
It's moments like this that I miss Mainframe's connection to the fans.Originally posted by Morac

Perhaps Mairi said they were contracted for eight episodes because Mainframe told her to. Yeah, I remember the original press releases saying that there was going to be two movies, then the release were revamped to create a thirteen episode season for Spring 2001 (the Daemon Rising arc, the My Two Bobs arc, another four-episode arc, and a musical episode to cap off the season). Cartoon Network was a financier for the new episodes, or so I heard, and they were hoping to have more than the eight that we had. But somewhere down the line, the corporate picture of Mainframe Productions changed. ReBoot was, more or less, transformed into their Mickey Mouse, serving more as a corporate icon than a regular production. Mainframe decided to produce more outside projects, like Betty Boop (a character created by the grandfather of one of Mainframe's new execs), Spider-Man (you know, I'm thinking that MTV might NOT be the one delaying this series), Scary Godmother, Dot's Bots, and a few others.
ReBoot is an afterthought to the new guys in the front office, and yet it's deep in the hearts of Ian, Gavin, and Mairi. All three of those individuals are no longer a part of Mainframe, which is right sad. I'm still thinking that Mairi's leaving may in part had something to do with the decision from the front office to limit the fourth season to just the two movies rather than the thirteen originally promised, announced by Ms. Welman in the ReBoot newsgroup.
Like I said, I miss hearing from Mainframe's link to the fans from time to time, but it shows the public just what Mainframe really thinks of the loyal fans.
I guess.
What does the X stand for? It's definitely not Extreme. Extreme starts with E.
