I'd have to go with Chaotic Century/Guardian Force on this one. Better storyline and Better characters. Having a hottie like Irvine in there doesn't hurt either.

that's a no brainer.....CC/GF of course. Why? Cause it's a well rounded story and good fighting all together. Zero is just eye candy. But if you stack up the pilots from Gf and zero, GF would come out the victor.

Zero sucks........it really does. The main character is a lucky bastard who wouldn't win a damned match w/out the liger zero.

Even though Zoid NC0 is just pokemon disguised with zoids at least we've seen the last ep. of Zoids NC0 unlike Zoids CC. Granted all of that CC/GF is way better series then NC0.

Give me Zero any day of the week.

If you're going to have a plot, make it compelling and if you're going to have kick ass giant robots in your show, make sure you use them right.

I care about the dance of choreography as much as I care about the juggling of plot and the art of storytelling.

For me, the story of Zoids CCF just isn't told powerfully enough, the plot does not enthrall me and the action choreography is boring.

Not to mention its BGM, which I find too huggie friendly sappy.

Zero on the other hand doesn't try and martch around to pretend it's something it's not. It comes to you with a big smile on its face and says straight out, "We're not here to save the world and give you some cardboard cut-out 'romance' between a clueless boy and a girl with a (as Jeff has pointed out) Cinderella Complex. NO!!! Dammit we got this whup-ass rockin' robots and we're here.... TO FIGHT!

And that one thing they pick they do it f-ing well. Just about every episode except the Robot Romance Episode, had me cheering and on the edge of my seat checking out the action.

That's why I dig Zero better.

Still.... I do regret that for some odd reason CN is keeping CCF fans from seeing the full series.

I really enjoyed Zoids Zero. It's a fun show that is just cool to watch. (I love things that transform)

    BUT

When I saw zoids on it's short toonami run, I was blown away. Like the peter Cullen promo said "Now, There's a reason to rumble."

Where Zoids Zero is really about the battles and machines, Zoids CC/GF is... well, it's about that too but it's also about a good love story, and a fight to safe an entire world.

On top of that, I have no problem connecting all three series together as one huge story of the planet Zi.

So I like them both.... BUT IN WANT CC/GF BACK ON TOONAMI... (Or atleast on at a reasonable hour somewhere in therange of : 3pm-1am.)

    EDIT:

I wouldn't mind a sequel to Zoids Zero, perhaps where the stakes of the battles are more than just money, or a corrupt gambling group....

Perhaps they can quest to re-learn the information about the Zoids that was lost between the time of the Caotic Century and the New Century.

Well... Being an annoying nitpicking lawyer I have to point out that except for one caracter, (Lynn Minmei... who?) Jeff doesn't say that this type of character/story is bad.

Personally when I take a break from being an anoying lawyer, I'm a hopeless romantic.

So I like things like: G Gundam, ALL the Tenchis, The interaction between Videl and Gohan, and yes I like Sailor moon.

So of course when I see one of these "Destined loves" on Zoids between Fiona and Van, I like that too.

Because love really should conquer all...

I dig romance, but I prefer the true love born from really knowing each other that Domon and Rain or Videl and Gohan found over the instant love of Relena and Fiona who are in love at first site to some guy they don't know and look to him unconditionally no matter what that he can solve all their problems.

That kind of "love" bothers me.... it's just not real. Domon and Rain fell in love from getting to know each other. From knowing each other inside and out.

They became everything to each other. She didn't just suddenly meet him and he become the end all, be all of life to her.

Heeey, whoa.... check me out today. I'm all bitter romantic n' stuff.

I prefer both series. Each one has some fave femmes I really appreciate, and each of those babes has something that makes them stand out.
Take Lena Tarros ("Zero Challenge"): Anyone gives her trouble and her D-Bison (later Gunsniper) has the power to put those troublemakers in their places. And she is one of those fave femmes who has a wild mood swing that wows the males who watch the series. Who wouldn't go for a take-charge gung-ho female of high caliber- way above 45, for that matter?
Or how about Moonbay ("Chaotic Century/Guardian Force")? She has true inventive qualities, and she is excellent in repair work. She also once had a boyfriend she gave up to be a wandering 'Transporter of the Wasteland', as she sings about herself. And can she drive a.....whatever that was she was driving in the legendary "Phantom" ep!

SPECIAL NOTE: Cartoon Network has ripped off the "Zoids" fans again! If you watched this morning, they had the famed "Guardian Force" intro, but what was the ep that aired? "The Ancient Memory", like it was supposed to be Monday? NO!! "The Secret Mission", which launched the "Guardian Force" part of the "Classic Zoids" series? NO!!!! CN DISRESPECTFULLY AIRED "The Boy From Planet Zi", THE VERY FIRST EP!!!
And according to CN's schedule, they're airing "The Mysterious Fiona" Monday!! And if they're doing that, that means "Transformers Armada", "He-Man", "G.I. Joe", "Scooby Doo", and "Tom & Jerry" ARE PERMANENTLY YANKED FROM THE NETWORK THE SECOND THAT "Zoids" EP ATTEMPTS TO AIR!! THE ONLY EP CN WILL AIR MONDAY, IF THEY WANT THESE FIVE LOUSY SHOWS TO REMAIN IN THEIR LINEUP, IS "The Ancient Memory" ("Classic Zoids" Ep #64- Part 1 of "Zoid Eve" Finale Miniseries), AND NOTHING MORE!!
"ZOIDS" FANS, IT'S PAYBACK TIME!!! LET'S SHOW CN WE'RE NOT ACCEPTING THEIR CHEATING ANYMORE, AND THAT THEY'RE GOING TO GIVE YOU "ZOIDS" FANS WHAT YOU'VE BEEN DEMANDING OR THEY LOSE THE FIVE SERIES LISTED ABOVE- NO EXCEPTIONS!!

    OTHER THAN THAT...............
I definitely go for both series, despite CN harassing the fans of the "CC/GF" package.

Which "DBZ" character are "Zoids" fans - preferably those exploding mad "CC/GF" fans- going to relate to in their furious E-Mails to CN right now?
    Majin Buu, no duh!!

Zoids Chaotic Century/Guardian Force are the best. Zero has battles, but they are crap. There are no good battles in Zero until the Berserk Fury and Vega show up. The last episode was the best battle in the show, except for the outcome, the Berserk Fury should have won.

The plot in Zero is...well there is no plot. Zoids go out onto a fieled and fight for fun. Whoopde doo. CC/GF actually has a plot. There is war going on. The battles are for life and death, not money and points. CC/GF battles also depend on the skills of a pilot and not how good the Zoid is *looks at Bit "loser" CLoud*.

Plus that, the characters are a lot better in CC/GF. Zero has a whiney punk, Bit Cloud, a wussie who has to have an alter ego to pilot a zoid, Jaime, and trigger happy female whom is extremally annoying, Leena, and Brad.

With that said, Chaotic Century/Guardian Force will always be superior to New Cerntury Zero.

Okay, by saying false stuff like that you're just talking smack, Tracer. Zero's battles are crap and no good??? 0_o Even the most loyal Zero Hater knows better than that.

The plot in Zero is...well there is no plot. Zoids go out onto a fieled and fight for fun. Whoopde doo. CC/GF actually has a plot. There is war going on. Zero is all about skill and determination. Bit's even lost a couple times to superior skilled warriors. On the other hand Van always gets his ass served if Zeke doesn't jump in to boost his Zoids power.

I agree that CC/GF's battle for life or death do give the show a more serious edge, but the fights are so...... bland. I love how in Zero that an opponent slips under the other's guard for just that instant to make the finishing attack. They catch the moment perfectly, snapping to the reaction and face of the fallen foe who knows properly that they've lost either in shock or in honorable acceptance. Samurai passes all done with supreme style and a triumphant roar. Music catches the heat of the charge perfectly as opposed to CC/GF happy dappy tree hugger music. I don't wanna hear a happy tune when the final blow is coming. I wanna hear music that jams with the action! CC/GF seems to sit on the *bang* *bang* got you, you're finished ending too often for my taste.

Plus that, the characters are a lot better in CC/GF. Zero has a whiney punk, Bit Cloud, a wussie who has to have an alter ego to pilot a zoid, Jaime, and trigger happy female whom is extremally annoying, Leena, and Brad.
They're definately twits, but I find them quite likeable. Fiona on the other hand and her grasps of language made me hate her from the start. Sometimes she understands a word, then othertimes not. I find her vapid innocence and the continuous clueless look she has in her eyes more obnoxious than Minmei......well.... almost.

With that said, Chaotic Century/Guardian Force will always be superior to New Cerntury Zero.
I'll give CC/GF one thing and it's their world design is alot more engaging that Zero.

Zero just has some fun traveling fighters looking for some bots to bang with. CC/GF reminds more more of a Squaresoft fantasy RPG who's world is filled to the brim with lots of excellent side stories and a major plot to rush to save the world. Thing that bugs me most is, if you're going to have cool robots in this story, you better having awesome action to go with it.

It's got an alright story, but far from being better than anything I've heard already or before.

Personally I love them both. CC/GF for it's plot driven action and Zero for it's fun. But for me Zero also brings something else to the table: a sense of nostalgia, like I'm watching one of the shows of my childhood back in the 80's. I also see Zero as being something I can sit down to and vege-out to for 30 minutes, for virtually any episode. Where as with CC/GF I feel like I'm obligated to watch from the very beginning. That, and if I was in a Zoid battle I'd rather have "No Future" rocking in the background than "Wild Roses".

And Zero does have a plot, it just sits on the sidelines most of the time. IMO, the only thing that held Zero down was that the writers boxed themselves in from the beginning by saying that if you loose to the Backdraft Group you loose your Zoids. Without that little restriction I think they could have done so much more with the show.

Oh yes, one more thing. I do seem to remember that once upon a time, back during Zoids/0's first run on CN a Mr. JohnCrichton didn't think it was that hot, until the first episode with Jack Sisko. THEN he fell in love with the show. Just a little tidbit.

    I love them both. ^_^

Zoids CC/GF for its obvious plot and it has really likeable characters. Even the bad guys are likeable (minus Marcus of course )

Zoids NC/0 is great becuase that battles can be really fun and I love it's humor. There are plenty of times in NC/0 that left me LOL (most of those moments involved Harry Champ).

But JC, if you stuck around for the Guardian Force part of Zoids CC, you would know that, truthfully, all of the Zoid pilots surpass every single one in Zoids NC/0. Oh and Van learns how to kick arse without Zeke's help.

That you pay that much attention to my posts is both chilling and flattering, Mr. O.

And Sora, by no means am I trying to say that Zoid CC sucks or anything... just from what I've seen it doesn't hold my attention. I'm glad everyone else seems to thoroughly enjoy it.

I tried to stick with it, but it bored me quick! I found myself too often just fast fowarding to G Gundam.

Agreed. Even Hiltz, I could deal with. He's psychotic, that makes him spiffy. But Marcus deserved what he got.

Hey, THERE'S a reason to like CC/GF better! People actually DIED!!

Oh, and one more thing..... :: pats Waggytoon on the head:: Thanks for the update, dearie, but most of us already knew about CN gyping us over the last four episodes. Check the forum threads. Oh, and cut your caffine intake by at least 50%, okay? You're seriously going overboard.

It's hard to compare the two since they are so different. While I want to say Classic, simply because it was more plot-oriented, it really just came off as a sub-par Gundam story (though I love the setting), though not to imply that Gundam is flawless, it certainly isn't. Classic did a good job, but I just feel that they could have done a better job overall.

Whereas, with Zero, what you had was a fairly simplistic story that was what it was and was good at being what it was. Taken on its own merits, I feel it did a better job than Classic, though Classic set the bar higher for itself and I like its concept better.

But... this is about which one I like better, not what I think is better, so... I'll just say both, since I like Classic better, yet feel that Zero was done better...
