How Outlaw Star can have a second season is beyond me. All the episodes (except one?) aired on CN.

Escaflowne finished in Japan in 1996-97 at 26 episodes, and was cancelled by Fox Kids after 6 episodes or so. Maybe Fox will give it another shot, but I rather doubt it. Plus, it got the Cardcaptors treatment--episodes stitched together, ripped apart, spliced with other episodes...

    Never materialized. Yet.

There is an Escaflowne MOVIE, but that's about it.

While I really need to see Escaflowne (and I want to too, I only have so much $$$) from my understanding the series concludes quite nicely so no need for a sequel in needed. Maybe you're thinking of the project the creative team (who I believe also did CB) is rumored to be working on.

I've heard rumors that either an OVA sequel to Outlaw Star or a second spin-off is in the works but I haven’t seen any official announcements about it.

Yes, Escaflowne is a Sunrise show. So is Cowboy Bebop. And Big-O. And the numerous Gundam shows...

I own the Escaflowne VHS box set, but I don't think it's one of my favourites. I have a few problems with the plotting and characters, and I watch Cowboy Bebop much more than I do Escaflowne. I don't regret purchasing Escaflowne, but it's not something that I can't live without.

I know they're Sunrise shows (for some strange reason I haven't seen a Sunrise show I didn't like), I meant the specific creative team behind both Escaflowne and CB, not the company itself. But I'd still like to see all of Esca, I saw a few ep's awhile back, and no it wasn't the Fox version, and I'd like to see more. Plus I understand it gets quite twisted by the second half of the series.

I also heard a rumor a little while back about a the original creative team behind the majority of UC Gundam series is looking into CGI mixed with traditional cel animation techniques for a new Gundam series set around UC 250 or later.

There was a Gundam film that was full CGI...but it got pretty bad reviews and I personally can't get into a CGI Gundam...

Most recent Sunrise shows use bits of CGI mixed with traditional cel. Even the recently finished Turn A Gundam had a bit of CGI in it, like Cowboy Bebop did. I think CGI works best as SFX...

Sunrise shows are generally good quality because they are backed by Bandai, which throws a good amount of money at them to work with. I think they also have the most "professional" staffs in the TV anime industry. I personally associate Sunrise with mostlu good, professionally made shows. You can really tell the difference when you compare a Sunrise show to a Gainax show, which are known for more "independent" productions...

As for creative teams, CB and Escaflowne had different directors. While Sunrise usually has the same group of scriptwriters, the character designer and director for CB is not the same as Esca's. only Yoko Kanno (not Ono), the woman composer, is the only prominent figure in both shows.

Sunrise is always top quality in my book, never been disapointed with any of their anime.

After playing the PS2 Gundam game, and watching that awesome intro, I'd love to see a similar series that mixed the CGI with standard animation like the game.

Wasn't that G Savior? But what I was talking about was a new series that rumored to be in the development stages and if true will most likely air in 2004, Gundam's 25 anniversary.

And thanks for the Sunrise production info, it's always nice to know a little more about the studios you like.

Is Yoshiyuki Tomino, the original creator, rumoured to be involved? He tried to do a fresh take on the Gundam franchise with Turn A Gundam (and personally, I think he got his 'groove' back with this series--too bad nobody in Japan was watching...) and I believe he still has some ideas left in him.

Nope. But I saw it at a convention. One of the few comic conventions I've been to.

Should be released on DVD next year.
