    Mazinkaiser - Toonami Material <preview trailer inside>>

    Like This Thread!
Since all this old school stuff is coming back with a fresh coat of paint I'd like to see my boy once known as Tranzor Z make a comeback as well!

The remake Mazinkaiser has already been done and frome the few episodes I've seen it's definately a 5 star anime!

Sometime in the future where Gundam SEED, more He-Man, and hopefully some better Transformers are on... I think Mazinkaiser would just make nostalgia fans eyes light up and cry in sheer happiness.

As promised here's the Super Robot Grand Battle preview..... ONLY at Japan Hero!

[indent]For some reason the link for the trailer did not work for me, I got a lot of weird symbols. I have no idea what the show is so I can't really answer your poll, but I must admit the screen shots definitely look cool! Along with SEED/He-Man/etc. don't forget Tenchi GXP, Molly: Star Racer, and Rockman Neo for the dream Toonami 2003 line-up!

Well that's probably because this is exactly what Gekiganger 3 is parodying (well, Mazinger/Tranzor Z).

Still waiting for the download to finish...

    Go Nagai on Toonami...ha...

well i dont want to sound pesimistic but after seeing Shin Getter Robo most of the series that are being given the updates are alot more gritty (minus Devil Man : Woman, nothing is more gritty then Devil Man) , i havent seen the Mazinger Z remake preview yet, but if anything the old series would fit...if not a little cheesey.
Aren't you tired of all of this? I know I am.

Wow, are all those robots really in it?! I saw Getter Robo, Shin Getter Robo, Voltes V, and Grendazier!

If G Gundam is a success, maybe the super robot genre will get some new life. Definitely looks Toonami worthy to me!

It seems interesting enough for me. How is the storyline? My computer is too slow to download the trailer.

This show, in my book, gets the Toonami Stamp of Approval!

Storyline so far that I've seen is simplistic, straight forward, yet damn strong and powerful.

Just like the super robot animes of old. Voltron, Getter Robo, and Tranzor Z weren't eye poppingly intelligent or filled to the brim with intrigue, but they were awesome in their own right.

Heavy metal, standing tall and not backing down from the whatever darkness may come. Willing to put it all on the line for that final finishing move you've been waiting to hear alllll episode.

    "Form Blazing Sword!"

    or

    "Rocket PUNCH!!!"

Not to mention the smooth and fluid animation that screams top notch.

Only thing counting against it, is that it's being release by ADV Films. And you know how Toonami just would hate for us to get our way and have some ADV Film anime on the block.

    Here's for hoping tho.

It'd make for an incredible Friday Feature.

    Meteo, you see it yet?

Ooooh yeah, btw that's not actually the preview for Mazinkaiser. So far in the series I've only seen the Mazinger bots and none of the others.

But I do have a bunch of old tapes that does have all those bots teamed up in one movie.

    So it's possible!

Up there's a special anime that Go Nagi did..... for reasons unknown other than to make fanboys like me giggle.

But that's as close to a Mazinkaiser promo as I know of on the internet.

I'm going to see about getting the opening posted up at Japan Hero when I can.

Giant Robo is still the greatest Super Robot remake.

The ending was pure genius and episode 7 had the coolest battle scenes.

To bad Imagawa was only able to do part of the planned saga.

    I keep hearing this!

Okay, for sure, next time I rent an anime, Giant Robo will be in that bunch.

    One word: Dai-Guard

It's my new favorite giant robot show. Of the 5 episodes I've seen so far (got the first disc at AXNY - two weeks before its regular release date), it's got comedy, action & some good giant robot & monster action

Not a problem... Dai-Guard has got something that I haven't seen in any other giant robot show. The "heroes" have to hear about & deal with corporate politics (since Dai-Guard is owned by a security corporation) and damage claims from their battles. It's a little like Dilbert meets giant robots. All that and a theme song that gets stuck in your head (but its a good thing)

Yeah, with Neon Genesis looking monsters too!

I saw a little bit of it just yesterday when I was going to buy comics.

Mazinkaiser's still better for sheer overall feel, pacing and fun tho.

    Here's the plot

10 years ago 5 scientists created the Shizuma drive. The Shizuma drive was so perfect that it took its place among the main elements, Earth, Wind, Water, Fire, Shizuma. The earth is in a third energy revolution and everything runs on Shizuma drives from trains to watches.

The only thing that breaks this harmony is Big Fire, an evil organization that uses Giant Robots to commit their crimes. They are led by the magnificent 10, 10 super powerful men who use their powers for evil. To oppose the threat of Big Fire is the International Police organization and their elite members the Experts of justice who are led by the big 9. One Expert of Justice is Daisaku Kusama who controls the mightest robot of them all Giant Robo.

Big Fire has collected 2 of the three anti-shizuma drives that are needed to shut down all of the world's shizuma drive. The IPO must stop them from getting the thiird or the world is lost.

Its a 7 episode OVA that clocks in at about 5 hours long.

I agree with Charred Knight on Giant Robo. Spectacular stuff.

From what I hear about Mazinkaiser, it's less serious than Getter Robo: Armageddon was. Aside from Mazinkaiser himself, just about everything is a throwback to the old series. However it is based around the original manga story, not the anime. A few differences, but not many. It's silly at times, but then, this IS Go Nagai we're talking about. It's good, solid, robot-smashing fun.

As for Dai-Guard...it's sort of a satire, really. Dai-Guard's attacks are FAR from earth-shaking, more relying on the humor that comes from having a Mazinger Z-type robot having to deal with real world corporate politics, and real world physics. There's a good review here:

    http://www.animejump.com/cgi-bin/go....video/daiguard

As for the preview that JC has...it was taken from this DVD:

    http://www.vulnepro.com/rotors/anime..._neo_getta.htm

    Hope that clears things up.
