    Gundam: Whose Next?

    Like This Thread!
Well we have been through the After Colony war, many aspects of the Universal Century war, and are right now going through the Future Century tournament. Yep, Gundam has definately made an impact on Toonami, for better or for worse. But with what has been released so far makes you wonder: what will be the next Gundam series to be on Toonami? That is the basis for the poll and possible feedback.

I want Z Gundam to be licensed by Bandai SOOOOOOOOOO much. Such a great and amazing series.

As for Toonami, X or V are likely to air on Toonami. Gundam SEED would air should or would likely air in two years. Turn A for ASA.

I strongly suspect that Zeta will be the next series to come to the US, but not to Toonami.

The next series specifically for Toonami will be either X or SEED. It's kind of hard to guess which one because Bandai is probably a little reluctant to bring X over due to its unfortunate failure in Japan. However, they could get it here much quicker than SEED, seeing as that hasn't even started airing in Japan yet.

    I'm betting on X.

    It's done and Toonami friendly.

    Pity its ending tho....

Like ohmrbill I strongly suspect that the next Toonami Gundam series will either be X or SEED. And I'm leaning towards X since bringing it over first would give them time for SEED to finish production, since it's still in the pre-production stages.

Besides I believe that they're aiming for getting SEED on the air in Japan by next year, so unless they want to do a release/broadcast at the same time on both sides of the Pacific and given Toonami's usual weekday broadcasting runs for series on the block, I would say that Gundam X is the more likely candidate, with SEED following the next year.

    Three words: "The Big O".

Plus it's my understanding that originally Gundam X was directly up against EVA, and when that was killing X in the ratings the show was moved to a really bad time slot. From what I've seen of X, it's a good show. My guess is that it was "Executive Decisions" that killed Gundam X in Japan.

    Re: Gundam: Whose Next?

We've just had G Gundam. While I would like to see Gundams X and Turn A sometime down the line, I think we should get back to U.C. next time around. Though it won't make any sense to air Gundam Z without completing Mobile Suit Gundam first.

For Toonami? Thats a no brainer. Gundam X. I don't see them airing UC stuff on Toonami, atleast in the approximate future, and Turn A Gundam's a little too weird, atleast from what I've heard (have never seen it).

The big question is not what Gundam is coming to Toonami next, but what block the next Gundam show will be going to. Thats the decision thats gonna effect what series we get next. If its Toonami, its Gundam X. If its Adult Swim, it'll be Zeta. Gundam F91, the last remaining stand alone is a no brainer to be released next year because its just one movie, hopefully we'll get a ASA airing of it.

Yea.. Gundam X will be next for Toonami. But Zeta will probably be next over all even if its more then likely going to AS. Its still exciting to get something new and G Gundam being the newest would be by default exciting.(I know its a confusing ramble but oh well).

Personally, I think that Zeta Gundam should be the next in this country, but I too think that if it comes, it will be on ASA. But I still voted for it because I want to see it. (but first, I want to see 0083, but considering Zeta came out first, I doubt it is too much of a must-see)

    *is still waiting for Zeta*

Bah, it's not going to come anytime this century. Gundam X will most likely air on Toonami (although that would be rather interesting to see because the concept of Newtypes hasn't really been shown yet).

I have the 1st 14 episodes of Zeta burned to a cd, and it's an impressive, yet dark series. If it did come to regular Toonami, alot of changes would need to be made actually...that and I've heard Bandai wants to bring Zeta over, but they're having problems finding the master tapes or something to that effect.

*Won't sell copies of his Zeta cd either*

And I'd love to see Gundam X or SEED actually next.

I see Zeta being dubbed next and going to Adult Swim. They might dub ZZ at the same time. In terms of what will be going to Toonami, I see Gundam X next. The AU's seem to better fit the audience Toonami is aiming for. I don't think we'll get SEED here until most of the other series have aired.

Actually Z and ZZ would need to be dubbed at once and aired back-to-back. ZZ pretty much begins right where Zeta leave soff.

I'm well aware of that. But Bandai have talked in the past about how dubbing both at the same time would be alot of work.

Very happy to hear I'm anxiously awaiting ALL members of the Gundam franchise, but am anticipating this one the most. Actually isn't much of a surprise to me, considering they just released Char's Counterattack. Zeta's logically the next UC one to go with. If they give Gundam X to Ocean's calgary group (like they did for G Gundam), who knows, we might get both by next summer

Sorry for sounding so dumbfounded and like a Gundam-newbie.

But what's wrong with Zeta in Toonami?
Can you guys tell me the objectionable content in Zeta that would make it more friendly in ASA?
(in spoiler mode will be good in case someone reading the thread doesn't want to know anything about Zeta...yet)

There really isn't much in the way of "objectionable" content in Zeta. Most of the series could run on Toonami's afternoon run completely uncut (unless they dub in some extra swears). However, there are a few scenes that would not sit well on Toonami.

    Particularly,
    Spoiler:
in one of the first few episodes, the Ahgama crew goes to a dead colony that had been gassed by the Titans. There are half-decaying corpses scattered all over and editing them out would ruin the whole purpose of the episode.

Other than that, the series would be pretty easy to edit for Toonami; a shower scene here and there and a slight bit of blood near the end. However, the decision to put it on Adult Swim will be because of 1) that's where all the UC shows seem to be going now, and 2) your average Toonami viewer will most likely be bored to tears with Zeta.

    Re: Who's next

The big news for a number of people is that Mobile Suit Gundam Zeta is in production.

    AXNY news .
