    Alternate Universes and Gundam....

    Like This Thread!
I know alot of UC fans are ticked at what Gundam has become, but do you guys think they need to stop it?

I like the UC from what I've seen of it, and I like the War feel of it.

On the other hand I do like the feel of AC and from what I've seen some of the other AU's seem pretty cool. Take away the name Gundam and I think they could stand on their own, but I also understand why they would attatch the popular brand name to it.

    Your opinions.

Well I have a question about one of the AU's
In Gundam Wing Zechs notices the First gundam seen by the military as a Gundam. If this is an alternate universe, how did he hear of this name?
This is very similar to the suggestion put forward by the Quirmian philosopher Ventre, who said, "Possibly the gods exist, and possibly they do not. So why not believe in them in any case? If it's all true you'll go to a lovely place when you die, and if it isn't then you've lost nothing, right?" When he died he woke up in a circle of gods holding nasty-looking sticks and one of them said, "We're going to show you what we think of Mr Clever Dick in these parts..."

Most AU and UC are pretty similar, at any rate. The AU universes are just used by directors who want some freedom away from the UC continuity.

Though UC has a more fleshed out continuity, with more extensive back story.

I'm just now starting to see the UC shows, Moblie suit Gundam is cool. I don't see why Japan dropped it a few years ago

Dropped it? You must be referring to its cancellation in 1979. Well, it was a weekly show, and apparently people weren't willing to give it a chance because it was somewhat hardcore science fiction (at the time) and incredibly complex (again, for it's time...now the show's complexity is just right compared to many of today's...).

After it was cancelled, it was blessed with something we call "syndication." Now the show was airing the reruns daily, and people jumped on the show like...mice on cheese. The rest is history.

Yes that was what I was talking about.
