3 Toonami series getting the DVD Box Set Treatment

    Like This Thread!
The only thing better than owning one of your favorite series on DVD is having a box to keep all those DVDs in.

[indent]First up it's the series that has been seen on Toonami more times than any run of DBZ. At a whopping 10 runs, it's Outlaw Star! Originally available in 3 two disc sets now you can get it all at once.

[indent]Next up with 6 Toonami runs under it's belt, the series that brought Gundam to America, it's Gundam Wing! In what must be one of the biggest boxes in DVD history you can find all 10 DVDs spanning this 49 episode series.

[indent]Finally, the series about to make its Toonami debut August 5th, G Gundam! A few months later the DVDs will began to arrive which can be purchased separately or in a 3 disc mini-box. Since this is another 49 episode series there will likely be 3 or 4 mini-boxes by the time all is said and done.

[indent]It should be noted that unlike some box sets (i.e. Cowboy Bebop) boxes will not be available separately at this time. If you already own the DVDs you are probably out of luck. More information on these titles can be found in this thread on the DVD board:

    http://forums.toonzone.net/showthrea...threadid=38776

[indent]While were at it Tenchi fans can rejoice also! Although it aired on British Toonami, here in the states there was an episode of Tenchi Muyo! missing from the Toonami run. It had absolutely nothing to do with the plot of Tenchi Muyo!, but it is filled with crazy Mihoshi goodness and features the only appearance of Kiyone in this Tenchi series. This October the Tenchi Muyo! Mihoshi Special will finally be available in the DVD format, but that's not all! Included on the disc will also be the 3 episode OAV series Pretty Sammy! More information on this can also be found on the DVD board here:

    http://forums.toonzone.net/showthrea...threadid=38781

[indent]Want to see your favorite Toonami shows, but you don't want to wait for them to return? Now you can buy them legitimately in these box sets. Not only are boxes fun, but they are oftentimes cheaper than buying the individual discs. Enjoy Toonami programming whenever you want to see it, only on DVD!

(Thanks to MDawg957 for initially reporting this news on the DVD board.)

If all people are getting is the box with the ten dvd set, then fine. If they are getting extras with the GW box set, i'm going to be.....upset.

[indent]I don't believe these boxes contain any extras that were not available already. The Gundam Wing box doesn't even have room to put in the Endless Waltz DVD, it's just for the DVDs from the series and those DVDs are the same ones released previously.

Well they released the Bebop empty box w/o the CD like the full price version and people flocked to it. If you really want to see a box contact Bandai and let them know. I put this info in my orginal thread, but I'll put it here as well to get some more exsposure
Contact info can be found at http://www.bandai-ent.com/contact/ Here's the info if you'd like to call them
    Business Hours
    Monday - Friday
    8:30AM - 4:30PM Pacific Standard Time
    Tel: 1.877.77ANIME (1.877.772.6463)
To email them, go to http://www.bandai-ent.com/contact/cs.cfm
If a seperarte box is announced, expect it to be similar to the Cowboy Bebop empty box and be exclusive to Right Stuf

Also be sure to check out Anime on DVD for any new info on these box sets. They will usually get news first before it trickles out to the other sites, and I'll be sure to post any updates here if there are any. Later.
Yup. It's a signature. Go away if you're expecting something interesting here.

It's not uncommon for VHSes of Toonami animes to be released with Toonami edits. Sometimes a company will release both editted and uneditted VHSes, and an uncut DVD. But with DVD's rising popularity, some seem content to just have an editted VHS and an uneditted DVD. Some companies are going to stop selling anime on VHS entirely.

    The sad thing is...

the truely horrible thing is that the only version of Gundam Wing you can find is the Toonami edit of it. the series should have 52 episodes in it, not 49.

i can only imagine what would have happened to other series if they had been shown on Toonami first and edited as such before getting an actual domestic release.
Aren't you tired of all of this? I know I am.

    No it doesn't

    49 TV Episodes, 5 OVAs, 1 Movie <-Japan
    49 TV Episodes, 3 OVAs, 1 Movie <-Region 1

The only thing we haven't gotten is the Odd and Even Numbers OVAs which are Region 2 Excluisves. (Like the Directors Cut of Evangelion)

[indent]Where is this information from? Everything I find online says it has 49 episodes. There has never been any mention of episodes cut such as what happened with Outlaw Star and early DBZ.

Gundam Wing had 49 episodes and one 3-episode OVA. The OVA was Endless Waltz, which was later turned into a movie. There is NO MORE GUNDAM WING THAT IS NOT AVAILABLE NOW.

Except for Odd And Even Numbers, the 2 Part OVA included on the 5th Region 2 Boxset ^_^

it takes place in the time between episode 49 and Endless Waltz.
