Eeegads... you're the second Toonzone staffer who has said no today.

I want to cry... but I see no icon.

I guess the next question would be... do you LIKE Transformers?

Saw it, loved it, own the DVD. Even though when they started introducing the new Transformers I lost interest.

Funny that as a result of Optimus' death, the GI Joe movie was neutered to let Duke live.

Saw it when it first hit theaters.

Saw it every time they showed it on TV.

    Bought the video.

    It's a classic.

That reminds me, mind if we put spoilers in the title? We've already learned that Prime has died and a ton of other spoilers.

Sure thing. Though, it seems funny to me that a 16 year old movie could still have spoilers... but I guess a lot of people are really out of the loop. And who knows where this thread might lead.

Better hope on over to your local video/DVD center, everyone.

Edit-- Looks like I can only change the "inside" thread title of the post.

    Transformers: The Movie

Loved it. One of the greatest action cartoon series of the 1980's made into a movie. The movie served as a buffer for the original Transformers. It came out after seasons 1-2 and before seasons 3-4.

My first time of the TV movie was when I was 5 years old back in 1991, it was already out in VHS. Bought the DVD Collectors Edition of the movie 2 years ago, and bought rereleased episodes of the show. I recommend this movie to everyone. It was this show that got me into the world of anime.

One more thing that I would like to add this that both Transformers & G.I Joe Movies would make excellant In-Flight Movies for Toonami.

Well, other than wishing my DVD copy had an option to take out the songs "Dare to be Stupid" and "You've Got the Touch"...

    I love this movie!

I'd rather watch a GoBots marathon!

I really didn't enjoy the movie.

    Abso-frelling-lutely!

Thought the movie was the cutting edge of brilliance and it keeps getting better every time I see it!

So yeah, great movie. Action's slammin' and I heard about the change to the G.I. Joe Movie. I have it on DVD and saw how awkward they put in the voice over of, "He's slipped into a coma..." lucky guy after taking a frelling live snake straight through the heart!

Also, some changes were made to TF:TM that we'll never see that my buddy saw in the theatre. Like Op Prime busting and crumbling to broken parts after he turned grey and black. And Shockwave getting eaten by Unicron.

Anyway, It had plot holes up the wazzoo, but I don't care. I loved it and loved the follow up episodes with the new characters even more than the old.

Sadly, I have yet to buy it on DVD.

How to make your own Penny Arcade comic:

Frame 1: Show a couple of characters.
Frame 2: Have one or more of the characters make some sort of geeky reference, either direct or indirect.
Frame 3: Have one of the characters say something bizarre and/or totally random, but whatever it is, it can't be funny!

And there ya go, kids. Just remember to use cheap vector artwork, and you'll have your own Penny Arcade-quality web comic in no time!

Tune in next week for the hilarity that is sprite comics!

    ...uh...that was spiteful.

Anyways, back to the topic at hand, Transformers The Movie is pure brilliance in my opinion. They managed to kill off the most beloved character in the Transformers universe and STILL pulled off a kick-@ss movie.

It's funny.... the whole "Friend of a friend" thing.

You wouldn't BELIEVE how many Transfans recall their own version of the movie, that no one else in the universe has ever seen. Kind of odd that there are 5000 different versions floating around out there. For years, people have been claiming to have seen things... always different things... always strange things (like Cosmos and Omega Supreme getting killed, even though they shows up in season 3 episodes), or like as you said... Prime crumbles to dust... even though they find his zombified body in season 3's "Dark Awakening"... or the extra scens of the city transforming, that were in the Japanese only version and trailer... or Unicron waiting until the end of the movie to gobble down the 2 moonbases.

Of course... no one besides our "friends" have actually SEEN that version of the movie. So something strange is obviously going on. --Of course, the long lost LETTERBOX print is just that... long lost. And it really, truly DOES exist... so you never know.

But one has to wonder if the movie was so powerful to a child's mind, that the child will actually begin developing the story in their own way via their subconscious minds over the years. Because apparently, this is a very common thing.

Even *I* thought the movie had scenes that I never saw in the movie years later. I could have sworn growing up that Optimus Prime went insane in the movie, and had a fight to the death with Rodimus Prime, and demanded that he take the Matrix and escape before the ship they were on blew up. And then YEARS later I realized that it wasn't the movie at all, it was the episode "Dark Awakening" where the Autobots find the Quintesson controlled corpse of Optimus Prime, and both Op and Rod have a showdown... and Optimus Pilots the tomb into the sun and kills himself to save the autobots. [Of course, Hasbro totally re-wrote the ending for it's 2nd and ongoing airings, so they could bring Prime back in the season finale, thanks to fan outcry against his death... but that's another story].

Anyway... someone should make an actual medical condition for this. TMSMS: Transformers: the Movie Selective Memory Syndrome.

True, no one will ever know.. the wonders they've seen.

But he does point out that when Daniel brakes down in tears on Op Prime's hand, that it is infact cracked and broken.

Plus the movie was done before the TV series episode happened. With the change having been made, they were able to do that wonderful Prelude to the Return of Optimus Prime.

I so felt something when Daniel was going past all the tombs and reading off each of the Autobot names.

Ah Transformers... truely a timeless classic.

I do remember some of the horrible lies I was subjected to around its release, since I didn't see it. There was rumor a Transformer/Gobot/G.I. Joe episode happend on the Disney Channel. I totally bought it cuz, well what reason did my friend have to lie!

    Well, now I know. Entertainment.

And as the saying goes, "Knowing is half the battle."

Think they'll ever show this movie on an In Flight Movie? Or do you think the CN execs would just prefer to laugh at us?
