    DragonBall Z On Kids'WB!

    Like This Thread!
Well, this was a sudden change in the KWB schedule. We all know Toonami is coming to KWB on JUly 30th. Well, the 4:30pm slot will now be a rotating slot, featuring various Cartoon Network Toonami shows. The first show will be DragonBall Z, beginning July 30th for a week. It's not known if the episodes will be edited down or altered. For the full scoop, go to this site's newspage. Why is there a sense of dread...?

Hm, that's five episodes of Dragonball Z... that's what, 33% of a fight scene?

    Re: DragonBall Z On Kids'WB!

Are any of the Gundam shows going to air on KWB? I assume 08th MS Team won't; it's only a midnight run, right?

I don't see anything particularly wrong with 08th MS Team, which I've seen myself. It's definitely not a perfect show, and it's not a perfect Gundam series, but it still stands pretty strong, IMO. I have doubts about the end result of MS Gundam because of the reports I've heard about the dub, which seems to have been...interesting...but overall, 08th MS Team, is, in my opinion, one of the better anime shows that CN will air. I mean, it's got a character driven storyline, much more likeable characters than Gundam Wing (considering they're soldiers), it's got some nice romance, a gritty setting and storyline, and scope. I can see how people may not like it, but to brush off 08th MS Team as "it suxxxx!!!" would be pushing it, considering that there are a lot of pluses in its favour, even considering its flaws. It's head and shoulders above Gundam Wing, which in my opinion deviated from the original concept of Gundam: exploring the psychology of characters during a war setting (while promoting some cool-looking model kits at the same time). GWing had no psychology, just cookie-cutter heroes with no brains and substance.

Well, what kind of stories do you like? What kind of drawing styles do you prefer? Do you like simple shows or complicated ones? Do you prefer funny cartoons over serious ones?

What kind of live-action shows do you like? Give me an idea so I can connect with you.

Are they going to be the same eps that have already aired on CN? If so, all I can say is overkill. They've aired all of the eps that are available about 12 times so far. They need to lay off and get some new ones dubbed.

Surely there aren't that many people who are interested in seeing DBZ that haven't already seen it on CN.

One good thing is the rotating blokc could leave open slots for BATMAN and SUPERMAN to return. But what else could they show becuases DRAGON BALL Z? SAILOR MOON? That TENCHI show? WHat else is there. And I hear the episodes may be "self-contained" episodes. But I never knew there was any. Or one of the "shorter arcs". Is their either of those??

Sailor Moon has MANY self-contained episodes. Only in the last 10 or 15 episodes in a season does it get continuous. Same with Tenchi. DBZ, well....

Big-O has many self-contained episodes as well.

    So....

...DBZ is coming to KWB, you say? I'm wondering if Tenchi Muyo will make the crossover sooner or later, and how heavily that'll be edited. Yesterdays episode had a lot of sapphic overtones when Aiaka became smitten with a female biker(Tsasami's comment about the look of "two women in love" got a laugh out of me) who was chasing after a guy who looked and ran like Forrest Gump. Not to mention the kiss Aiaka and Ryoko shared in the "Pretty Sammy" ep.
I figured Mxy, like me, was looking for character-driven, psychologically complex characters...which isn't really to be found in DBZ, although there are a lot of other animes with plenty of between-the-lines stuff (even Pokemon can be very engaging, when they bother to put aside the cute beasties and explore the psychology of a particular character like Jessy or Meowth).

*Most* Gundam series are psychologically driven, especially the Gundam series helmed by the original creator, Yoshiyuki Tomino, who had a tendency to put his characters through mental misery rather than adventure. I can see how the Tomino-less Gundam Wing can be brushed off due to its pretty-boy cookie-cutter heroes and villains, but shows like the original Gundam, 08th MS Team, and even Big-O have a little bit more teeth than your average series.

As for complex anime characters on KWB...well, I thought Mei-Lin was a bit of a basket case, and they accomplished more with her in 8 episodes than many shows do with theirs in 52.
