Dragonball Z Episode 165 "The Cell Games"

In This Episode of DBZ: Trunks quickly realizes that his Super Saiyan powers are no match for the mighty Cell. Trunks accepts defeat, only to be given a second chance when Cell proposes a new idea to him. What could this idea be, and why is Cell plotting it?

Spoilers: Many people have probably already seen these episodes before. However, there's always new viewers out there, especially since CN has rarely aired Season 4 as a whole. Please use spoiler tags for future events that take place later on.

Characters

Goku: Was sent to the planet Earth when he was only a baby. He was raised by his adoptive Grandpa Gohan, untill his death. Later on he was trained by the legendary Master Roshi. He is a noble and strong warrior that will never turn down a fight or give up. He is known as a hero through the eyes of many people, especially due to his defeat of the evil King Piccolo. He wasn't even aware of his Saiyan heritage untill his brother, Raditz, came looking for him on Earth a few years ago. He later trained under King Kai in Otherworld. He finally achieved the long filled goal of the entire Saiyan race of becoming a Super Saiyan when he fought the evil Frieza on the planet Namek. He is also the sole reason Dr.Gero created the Androids, because Gero wanted revenge for the inventions he made for the Red Ribbon Army that Goku destroyed.

Gohan: The Son of Goku, and named after Goku's Grandpa Gohan. He was trained under Piccolo for one year before Nappa and Vegeta arrived on Earth. He might not look strong, but he has a hidden power within him that only seems to reveal itself when he gets angry. He is finally a Super Saiyan himself.

Vegeta: The Prince of all Saiyans and Goku's main rival. He is a proud warrior of the Saiyan race and has pride in that. This pride makes him want to face any challenge no matter how tough or what the circumstances are, even if the universe is at stake. He once invaded Earth and fought the Z Warriors himself. However, things started to change once they fought Frieza on Namek. Since then, Vegeta has been fighting alongside the Z Warriors. His main goal is to become the perfect warrior and to surpass Goku in power.

Trunks: Bulma and Vegeta's son from the future. He grew up in a timeline where the Androids ran amuck and caused all sorts of terror, including the deaths of the Z Warriors. He came to the present in order to prevent that from happening again. He 1st appeared single handedly defeating Frieza and his father, King Cold, when they came to Earth.

Krillin: Goku's best friend since childhood, when they began training under Master Roshi. He always fights alongside the rest of the Z Warriors. One of his goals in life is to find a beautiful woman and marry her. It was his death by the hands of Frieza that caused Goku to finally become a Super Saiyan.

Cell: Dr.Gero's most powerful Android. His goal in life is to achieve his perfect form by absorbing Androids 17 and 18. He came from the future because Androids 17 and 18 were already killed by Trunks in his time, so he killed Trunks and stole his time machine. Cell has absorbed the lives of many innocent people throughout his search for the Androids. He finally managed to absorb Androids 17 and 18 and complete his final form!

Android 16: Strong, but silent Android. His purpose in life was to kill Goku. He ended up joining forces with Androids 17 and 18, after they freed him from his chamber. When Cell found them, he made it his duty to protect Androids 17 and 18 from being absorbed. However, the two Androids were absorbed.

Yeah, me too. I wouldn't count on it, but we might get lucky. Season 4 DBZ have lasted on Toonami since April.

You no I would so enter the Cell games but I am lacking the super moves, the flying , the muscles, the YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA charging up and the awesome costume.

Now my favorite part of all of Dragonball Z will begin, well after some training eps. The Cell Games!

I believe the 10 extra days is to allow the others (i.e. Vegeta and Trunks) to train for the event. Besides,

"Hmm, Goku's still away training somewhere, but I've already beaten up everyone else. Now what is there to do? I know, atournament! Remember the World Martial Arts Tournament, it used to be a big thing but hasn't been mentioned in forever? Let's bring that back!"

No, It's more like Cell is basicly saying to the Z warriors is "I'm God now, this planet and everyone on it inclueding all of you are now my playthings. I could kill all of you with ease but that would be dull so I'll give you one last chace to try and beat me only you will all have to play by my rules. Of course in the end, you will all still die but it will be so much fun for me as I toy with your lives and give you the false hope that you could win and then shatter it in front of you."

How they're going to handle the "Dragon Ball" situation (as a way to revive those people that got killed by Cell) now that Kame has fused with Piccolo?

Like others here, I really do love the Cell Games arc even if the idea for it is kind of stupid. (Yeah I know Mr. Anime Cell obviously has a huge ego you get when you mix Vegeta and Freeza's cells together but really they could of done a better job of him trying to come up with a better erason to hold a tournament). The best thing I like about this ep is for once a battle wasn't decided by a cheap move or just instantly being stronger then your opponent or a last second victory. Rather Trunks being stronger but Cell being faster and Trunks unable to hit him. (That's what you get for using all those steroids Trunks... oh come on you all knew a steroids joke was coming with all that muscle). Anyway next time we take a little trip down tournament land as "What is the tournament" is asked. Also the match you were all waiting for...
