MÄR: "Phantom's Hidden Joy!" Talkback (Spoilers)

Episode 24
Japanesse title: "Phantom of Secrets Enjoyment"
English title: "Phantom's Hidden Joy!"

On the last MÄR, Dorothy showed she too can be ruthless by summoning Toto and having him eat her opponent. The Chess Pieces were shocked to find someone like them on Team MAR, and they began to prepare, but just as the celebration was about to begin Jack and Ginta returned, and with teh increased magical powers and a new form for Babbo, they look like they won't be stopped anytime soon.

Today: Phantom returns to his human form to join in the celebration, but will his identitiy be discovered, or is this the beginning of something more sinister?

The cast:

Ginta- This fun loving, free caring boy always dreamed of a video game, and one day his wish came true. He was taken to the game world he's nwo in, but exactly why did Ginta have those dreams in the first place? One thing's for sure- he's making the best in MÄR- Heaven with increased strength and perfect eye vision, but is there something more for him in this world?

Babbo- This is the only ÄRM in MÄR-Heaven with the ability to talk, but after an unusually long slumber, Babbo lost all his memories. After awakening, he wasn't too pleased to see Ginta, but eventually he realized that Ginta was a true friend and decided to go with him. Now Babbo protects the world, all the time pointing out that he's a gentleman and you'd better not touch his moustache, but an unknown person has put out a handsome reward for anyone who will capture him.

Dorothy- This witch has mysterious powers, and she has a great desire to collect legendary ÄRM's, but Babbo was too heavy for her, so she gave him to Ginta. Before she left the two travelers, she hinted she might see them again, but is that a pro,ise or a threat?

Jack- This young man encountered Ginta after thinking he was a vegetable eating werewolf, but with Ginta and Babbo around, Jack realized he had an inner strength and was now the man of the house. With a little help from Ginta and Babbo, Jack was able to dispose of the Roglou with his battle shovel, and his mom gave him permission to join the two adventurers on their travels, but will Jack serve as an ally or a hinderance?

Koyuli- This young girl was the only one who would listen to Ginta as he told her about his dreams of MÄR Heaven, but little did she know it was real. After being present with Ginta when the gate opened, she had a desire to joinhim, but the one who opened the gate revealed he could make no promises about her being protected. Instead, she chose to stay behind, but she made Ginta promise to tell her everything when he returned. Will she be able to convience Ginta's friends and family that he is still safe?

Alviss- This mysterious man seems to be watching over Ginta for some unknown reason, and he also seems to know the secrets of Babbo. When he finds out Babbo has been released, he challenges Ginta to a match, but he also threatens Babbo's very exsistence. Can our heroes find out if there's more to Alviss than meets the eye?

Edward/ Alan- The mysterious guardian dog works with Princess Snow, but he also has a special power. When Ed gets knocked unconscious three times, his human form that appears, and that form is nearly as powerful as the Chess Pieces. Previously he was known as Alan, and he fought in the previous war with the Chess Pieces, but how powerful is he on the scale, and how is he a dog and a man?

Snow- The princess of Lestava, but this princess has some mad fighting skills and a personal agenda against the Chess Pieces. How does she know the Chess Pieces, and why she hates them is anyone's guess, but she's one you'll surely want to learn more about.

Nanashi- This man joined the MÄR warriors after he learned they weren't part of the Chess Pieces army. He asked them to help him get revenge for the fallen comrades of the Thieves Guild. Does he have anything special planned though?

The Chess Pieces- A criminal organization led by the unknown Phantom. They seem to have their own agenda for wanting to rule MÄR, and they know the secrets to Babbo's past, but will they be too strong for Ginta when they meet head-to-head?

As with last time, they have a skip in the first part of the episode. Luckily it's mostly the beginning and the title screen, though it does jump over the Thieves Guild members arriving.

Phantom returning as Tom to try and find a weakness was predictable, but it does move the plot along, as does Ginta revealing he's the Bosses son to everyone.

The episode this week didn't skip for me...

Man, Phantom sure pulled a sinister plan out of the hat. I wonder how this will affect Ginta's confidence in battle, if at all.

When I watched it the second time, it didn't skip, but when I played it a third time, it did skip again, so it may or may not skip.

We won't have to wait long to see what they next round brings. According to the CN and zap2it schedules, epsiode 25 airs on Toonami this Saturday night. Of course, if they keep the premieres every other week, then we'll have to wait nearly a month to see episode 26.

I thought this episode was really powerful. I was really pulling for Tom, and I was quite angry when I found out he was only working for the Chess Pieces, in the end.

Definitely one of my favorite episodes in a long time. I'm looking forward to that 5-man battle. Especially, since Alan is going to fight for the first time.

Tom is Phantom. I thought that was made clear in the earlier episode where they contacted Phantom and asked him to come back while he was in the caves at Vestry.

I think they did a pretty good job with this episode. God Phantom's convincing. If Alviss had found Ginta when he was with Tom then Ginta'd sure be in for a surprise.

Hah, Rolan's come! He's so funny, He's my second favorite character (Nanshi being first) I really look forward to his fight (though sadly it's the last round of the next battle) I'm surprised with his voice, the dark, serious Rolan actingwasn't as good, but the air-head, girly Rolan voice acting was really good! It sounded pretty natural.

The next battles aren't quite as good though, except for the last one and the second to last ones.

I must've missed it. I was multi-tasking.

So, Tom's Phantom? Wow...
