    New Thundercats!

    Like This Thread!
Did anyone else here start scrambling for a bucket to contain the drool when they read this??

(Check teh Toon Zone main page and click the thing about 4Kids and Kinnikuman)

Oh and BTW does anyone have any of those Kinnikumen from teh 80's (MATTEL turned it into M.U.S.C.L.E in the 80's and marketed the toys. The really crappy ones though)

I've no idea how they could continue that series and make it good, while staying true to the source.

    Hope they do it right!

The only problem with a new series is that the guy that created the original as well as voicing lion-o died like 2 years ago.

I just hope they stick it as an upgraded version of the last one, not jsut a retelling or a rewrite on the first one, cause I don't know what'll happen if they ruin it.

3d style (I.e Voltron 3D, Starship Troopers) would be a total insult. Anime style would be a good choice or just the old style would be perfect.

Why do the words "Thundercats Beyond" keep crawling inside my head

Given the choice I'd just rather have them start over. That way not only can you have a chance to give the show a fresh perspective, you can include the best stories of the original (while ignoring the worst and trust me there were some bbbbaaaadddd ones) and give the characters some better development.

Besides a continuation would only make those of us with fond memories of the original which happens to shrouded in the sweet fog of nostalgia happy. However, doing a remake would allow new fans to get into the series, rather than be confused with a continuation.

And if any of the original VA's returned I'll be very, very happy.

Well the main one is dead soo that really throws a wrench into the works.

The only thing I wish they'd fix would be cheetara's voice. Plus that warrior woman's voice was the worst next to Cheetara's. I mean they over pronounced and added accents way too much. Plus they rarely showed emotion with the voice.

And for the love of god KILL SNARF!!!!!!!!!(Or at the very least Snarfer) They almost ruined the show the first time around.

If they were going to do something like "Thundercats beyond" you can bet your ***** the tag line will be "Bigger, Badder, Better"

[indent]Just curious, but why does anime style = good, but 3D = bad?

I take it you never saw Voltron 3d. I mean Bad Motion caps, the lips didn't match teh voice 100% of the time, an generally the show didn't hold up to the original. True I love Voltron as much as the next fan of 80's cartoons, but I mean this was just an excuse to make money without effort.

I mean an anime style, like Cowboy Bebop. "Dark" in a few areas, CGI where needed. Plus throw in a bit of a Akira Kurosawa film for teh fight scenes and I mean we got one hell of a good show.

The only 3d animation company that I've seen that can do humanoid beings on a television show justice is Mainframe. Netter Digital, the ones that did Voltron, went belly up a while ago, and the humans were bad. Personally, I didn't mind Voltron in 3D until they made that stealth brick of boredom.

And anime does not always equal good. It depends on how much money they're willing to spend on a series' animation. But since Thundercats was made back in the 80's when more action cartoons were using the "anime" style, it would suit it better I think.

And it's a shame to hear that some of the original voices have passed on.

[indent]The animation style doesn't really have anything to do with how good a show is. Do you think Voltron 3rd Dimension would have been any better if all they did was change the animation style? There have been plenty of decent 3D series and movies. Voltron shouldn't taint the whole medium.

Call me a furry lover, but if they DO make a Thundercats remake (and I second the idea of giving the show a new continuity), I'd rather have that the Thundercats look....a tad...more...like......cats.

Sure, they had SOME traits that let you tell what character represents what big cat besides their names; Lion-O had the mad wild mane of his, Cheetara had her spots, Tigra had his stripes, Panthro.....loked like a blue elf.

See the reason in tryin' to make 'em a tad more catlike?

An' if yer gonna flame me, flame me with style. I rather have something clever than a 'eww, they'd look wrong' kind of response

Yeah I second the whole "make them more like cats" thing. And yes I do think Panthro looked like a freakin Smurf on roids.

I mean not drastic canges to the chars, just maybe add a tail, fangs, and a small coat of fur (Nothing major, not like were talking Cousin IT here), plus for the love of god make Panthro a Black panther (Yeah it sounds racist, but it's not)

The best example of this has to be, is Stan Winstons new toy line (I really can't find hte name of it now. If I find the issue of toyfare with it I'll post the name)I mean they look like cats and yet keep those human like qualities.

I found the issue the line is called Beast Lords

I'm familiar with those action figures-now THOSE be some nice anthropomorphic felines!

Then again, it's not like it takes much to make good looking anthro cats-just go browsing about http://www.yerf.com for some nice anthro cats (as well as other animals)

    *looks around*

BTW, if you are gonna look there, check my stuff out sometime-http://www.yerf.com/trujnico/last.htm

Wow your good (i hang around yerf and vcl alot {Personally I hate vcl for all the adult material on the site} looking for pics)

Think you could do a sort of a comission of some reworked Thundercats (Like the ones you and I have suggested)

Hmmm...I COULD try my hand at Cheetara, at least...I'd need to dig up pics of her in order to see what I have to work with, tho.

Someone should make a sort of 'Thundercats remix' contest for artists. Winner gets to show it off, point and go 'nyah'!

    I'm kidding, of course
