How's the New Robotech Series Coming Along?

    Like This Thread!
I'd love to see Macross 7 over here in the States and on Toonami, filling in the much needed shoujo spot left void by Sailor Moon, but I know that's not going to happen.

But I heard there was a Robotech series in the works. Fully original and unlike Macross 7, all action.

    What's the deal with that?

    Anybody know?

Really? That sucks. Do you happen to know why it was cancelled? I was kind of looking forward to the new "Robotech" series.

Robotech 3000, which was suppose to be a CGI series, never got off of the ground because Netter Digital (the same guys who did Babylon 5) filed Chapter 11 in June of 2000 then sold everything at an auction in December of 2000. These were the same people who also did Voltron: the Third Dimension. CC-sama and I got to chat with them on several occasions, before Netter Digital went belly-up. Btw, Robotech 3000 was actually suppose to have premiered in or 2000. That show's been dead in the water for a couple of years now. CC's the Robotech fan, not me. He could probably tell you more about it.

I've never really watched "Robotech" besides a few episodes that I saw on Toonami. I wasn't really into it, but the new series sounded interesting. Oh well.

A couple of you seem to have forgotten about the new cell drawn series they're working on(probably still in pre-production). Only problem is Harmony Gold is more tight-lipped about all their projects than the US government.

I haven't forgotten about that cel drawn series. I just thought they were talking smack. They've been saying they were coming out with that series since before Netter Digital died. When the fans found out that Netter was doing a CGI version of Robotech, they had a fit so then this news about a cel version of the series started popping up all over the web. I think they had some stuff up about it on robotech.com at one point.

    There ya go!

That's what I'm talking about, Wilco. I knew that the broke ass CGI series was dead a long time ago, but I remember reading about the anime cel drawn series that's comingout.

    What's up with that series?

Damned if I know. The admins at robotech.com keep saying it's in the works, but they won't say anything else. They're doing the same thing with their upcomming lines of transformable toys and video games. They already sold out the Masterpiece (transformable) VF-1J via preorder and haven't shown any real pictures of it yet(just a small amount of protoype pics). Apperently they finally put out a few puny pics of their GBA game, but you have to buy a magazine or have a subscription ot Nintendo Power to see them(not worth it, IMHO). They also announced that they'll finally putting out footage of the upcomming console game(and the N64 game that got canned), but you have to buy the final DVD boxset to see it.

Edit: Ack! They finally put up some screen shots for the GBA. There's a little bit of bad news, though. It's super-deformed.

I got the Yamato VF-1S for Christmas. I'd love to get my hands on the VF-19, but I just now got out of an unemployment slump.

    I miss it so much.....
As long as it's Robotech, new or not, I'll watch it.

Too bad, I'd love to see another Robotech series. I can't say I miss it because I have the DVDs, but I know how you all feel.

Haven't heard a peep on the new Robotech series in ages. Video games will be coming out later this year, though. Multi-platform releases too, if I'm not mistaken. I've got the street dates, but they're still classified.
