How about making Toonami a little more teen-oriented

    Like This Thread!
It's ok to have Pokemon on Toonami, I really like it because it adds variety, but Zatch Bell and Bobobo? Come on, be for real, those are the kind of shows that Miguzi was created for. (I know some people here like "Bobobo" but you have to be serious about this)

Does anyone think if Cartoon Network re-launched Toonami next year to it's former edginess that it'd be bearable to wait once a week just for the greatness?

7:00 Pokemon Chronicles, 7:30 Hikaru no Go, 8:00 Fantastic Four, 8:30 Naruto, 9:00 Naruto, 9:30 Escaflowne, 10:00 One Piece, 10:30 GaoGaiGar

Would you watch the entire block if it was something like that?

    And what about Toonami weekdays?

It'd be much better if some of these long shows that are on Saturday Toonami and on Toonami Jetstream could be on weekdays, so that it would take less than a year to finish one run.

I heard some serious bullcrap a while ago that the reason Toonami is not on weekdays is because Miguzi does a better job at targeting male and female viewers. We know this can't be true because the demographics aren't sexist.

Zatch Bell and Bobobo add variety just as much as Pokemon does, though I think all three of those shows would be best suited for Miguzi, anyway. But hey, if it brings in the ratings, Toonami will gladly take it. I don't see it changing drastically any time soon.

It's kind of like ET, if you take out all of the emotion and turn it into a silly webcomic that's updated on Tuesdays and Thursdays

But Pokemon is one of the mainstream cartoons of our generation. Something so big is definately worthy of airing on Toonami. I read here recently that someone compared Zatch Bell to being a pokemon clone, and when you think about it... it's kind of.. true.
Those shows aren't going anywhere, and I'm not trying to be biased but I really don't see how Bobobo and Zatch Bell are equally unworthy of being on Toonami as Pokemon is in your eyes.

You wanna make Toonami more teen oriented? You gotta dump Pokemon first then 4kids One Piece. Bo and Zatch can also go to Miguzi or air first. Move it out of the 7PM frame.

    08:00 - Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo, Zatch Bell or MAR
08:30 - The Prince of Tennis
    09:00 - Naruto
    09:30 - Bleach
    10:00 - GaoGaiGar
    10:30 - IGPX
    11:00 - Justice League Unlimited
11:30 - Samurai Jack (followed by Trinity Blood on Adult Swim)

    Weekdays

    09:00 - Naruto
    09:30 - Inuyasha
10:00 - Fullmetal Alchemist / Eureka seveN / Gundam series (rotation)

AS starts at 10:30 Sunday - Thursday and runs 12AM - 5AM Friday and Saturday

    Now that's a revolution.

And it's really easy to tell it's you Zeni.

I think Toonami has tried on numerous occasions to be the middle-ground block- but in the end Cartoon Network's lust for ratings wins out and said focus is abandoned in quest for something they can run into the ground.

Its great that there are people still in the network pushing for this to happen (or else Month of Miyazaki would never have happened, and Hellboy probably wouldn't be airing in the coming weeks), but my overall faith for Toonami as a block to grow up a bit, and remain that way, is practically nonexistent at this point.

But hey, I'd love for them to prove me otherwise.

Fullmetal Alchemist on Toonami? No way. If your going to do that, you might as well put Trinity Blood, Shin-Chan, Inuyasha, S-cry-ED, and Samurai Champloo on Toonami.

Simple, Bo-Bobo was picked up for Toonami and Zatch Bell has more risky content than Pokemon (and is darker as well). They all would be fine on Miguzi but Zatch Bell and Bo-Bobo have earned their places on Toonami. Pokemon is more impactful but so what? DBZ is Toonami's longest running and most influential series and it's not even on the block anymore. Pokemon airs just about everywhere on CN. It's unfair to other shows for it to take away an hour of Toonami's alloted 4 per week. Bo-Bobo and Zatch Bell only air on Toonami now because CN isn't willing to air them elsewhere, while Pokemon is on Miguzi, Saturday mornings, Sunday afternoons and Toonami (Jetstream and Boomerang as well).

FMA is TV-14-V tops just like Eureka seveN and Bleach. I'm not suggesting cutting it down at all. I'm suggesting Toonami pushing to be a true middle block by airing TV-PG and occasionally TV-14 programing. FMA is graphic and suits AS more than Bleach infact it's the only shonen that really does but I figure if I'm going to go as far as Inuyasha and E7 I might as well go for FMA as well.

Trinity Blood? MA foo. They'd never do that.

Shin Chan? Too much swearing. Swearing is allowed but it can't be that gratuitous.

Champloo? Possible but it's more adult friendly than any of their shonen.

s-CRY-ed, easily I just don't think its worth playing. :anime:

I did suggest Inuyasha. You don't do much better with teens than Naruto and Inuyasha.

This Toonami would be 12-17 oriented most of all. It could air some Y7-FV when a show doesn't need a higher rating to be uncut but PG would mostly be the minimum and also the cap on most things but some TV-14 (ie, E7 only has a few episodes). Naruto wouldn't change it's editing I suppose and Bleach might get edited more but the rest of the higher content shows wouldn't be modified because they are "tame" enough to never push TV-14 often. Much of Inuyasha is PG-V and such.

Basically this Toonami would take the shonen away from AS and keep it off AS. Adult Swim would be left with Bebop, Trigun, Lupin, GitS, Trinity Blood, Paranoia Agent, FLCL, Shin Chan and Samurai Champloo. That's still a good lot of shows and ones that suit the 18-34 demo well IMO. Though Shin Chan is a stretch... but it suits Adult Swim's style but it might not even stick around. Future pick ups would be TV-MA as often as possible but some TV-14 works. But as little TV-PG as possible. That'd be Toonami's territory.

If weekdays isn't possible then I just want Bleach and the rest of the shonen can stay on AS as it's not worth it if they don't have a weekday slot which at the very least AS can give them.

Now there's something I agree with. Toonami on weeknights and Saturday :anime:

A little bit off-topic, but does anyone think it's possible that Cartoon Network would get the Zeta Gundam movies for Toonami? (If the ratings aren't good, it'd only be a short term failure as opposed to a long term failure if they got the series, right?)

    Zeni you give yourself away.

It's possible for them to get the Zeta movies but since they didn't get the series why would they bother? Still it'd be nice to have ANY Gundam at this point.

Because it looks like the movies have better animation than the series (From what I've seen) and perhaps the movie dub will flow better than the series. And by that I mean that maybe they'll translate it better so that it doesn't have any of the obscure dialogue (imo) that the series has.

    You forgot EVA.:anime:

Shin-Chan would be a stretch...if AS aired the Phuuz dub. But, since the FUNi one puts adult humor in here, well AS it is.

Toonami Edge, bringing the Edge back to Toonami.

7 Block: Zatch Bell/Justice League Unlimited
8 Block: The Prince of Tennis/One Piece (Naruto style dub)
    9 Block: Naruto/Eyeshield 21 (Naruto style dub)
    10 Block: 8th Ms Team/Bo^7

Meh, combing old and new to bring a strong edge back to Toonami.

Seriously, Pokémon needs to go. It's Miguzi fodder.

Hold on their buckeroo. s-CRY-ed is fine but Trigun was mostly TV-14 IIRC and since it dealt heavily with gunplay they'd never touch it. Say nothing for it's age. Though this puts a lid on GaoGaiGar most likely... Toonami wont likely be showing anything from the 90s unless most of it aired in the 2000s and beyond (One Piece for instance). Unless they get polished up anyway.

Bleach and Naruto in the 8 hour with Y7-FV Zatch and Bo-Bobo in the 9 hour? Now who is talk'n crazy.

Well done bringing back Duel Masters but in my book you can't have a "teen" block with Pokemon. Sorry, thems the breaks. But FTR, I'd watch that schedule. At least 7:30-11PM of it.
