What do YOU think Mad Rhetoric Meant?

    Like This Thread!
This was originally meant to be a reply to the Big O thread, but I got sidetracked and it turned into a rant of its own. So......

I felt the message behind Mad Rhetoric was to convey the mentality of your everyday true cartoon fanboy.

Trying to explain fanatically that anime and cool cartoons were something to be reconded with and watched! That they were art and should not be swept under the rug as some kind of cheap entertainment for children. And alot of non-fanboys would say, "Whatever..." and the fanatic would say back, "That's what I mean!!! That's the attitude that's ticking people off!!!" Then there's the voices going back and forth saying, "Totally meaningless," then another voice back saying that it's not!

The magitued of how important and huge anime should be to society is enough to drive us insane! "Stop it, stop it please!"

    And we're all like,"Why can't I make you understand!?!?!?!?!"

Lastly it's that never loose your appriciation, and love for all things that Toonami stands for. Don't toss it aside to become normal, because....."Nothing good can ever come from staying with normal people.........."

But above all else.... "Be very careful."

At least that's what I felt it meant. What do YOU think it meant? What do you think other music videos meant?

That's amazing JC. I never throught of Mad Rhetoric that way before.

For those of you who have seen Dreams, the meaining htere is pretty obvious. Follow your dream, and say nay to those who would who you back "Don't fear failure".

Advanced Robotics seems more like a warning shot in an animation war. There is a conflict brewing between the forces of change (kinda sorta us) and the human majority (the appathetic public). We no longer control that which we have created. Kinda like anime fans when you think about it.

Pardon Our Dust really doesn't have much of a meaningat all.

    Eh?

The only thing I got outta Mad Rheutoric (however the hell that word is spelled) is just a bunch of people screaming and things blowing up.

I never understand subliminal messages really.

This reminds me of those old Moltar speeches from long ago. Say, maybe this is TOM2's and new age Toonami's version of those same speeches. It think it makes some sense...

I have to admit to thinking of Mad Rhetoric more of just mad rantings while things blew up, but I have to admit, you have an intriguing hypothesis...

Re: What do YOU think Mad Rhetoric Meant?

some people r like "I want the damn original intro." or "not give toonami cowboy bebop", or "kids suck"

People r disrespectful of it becauz it's rated towards kids.

toonami is different. it can be tougher than the best and stronger than the rest. It's having different intros, great shows, keeping the faith. If it's not toonami's all, the mission is meaningless. Sean's goal is to get to higher place, to get another demographic without outside help, by having faith in the original.
Lucky us that toonami IS going global. Thanx to the viewers who'll listen. Stay tuned.

why can't i make you understand?

now u know why I always complain about overkill's opinon and some of yours.

That's what I always thought it meant.

There's always meaning in what Tom says. Although I think the message behind Advanced Robotics was not anything to do with anime fans or control, it was Toonami expressing Sean's sentiment that "anything with giant robots has a good chance of getting on."

"Their time is coming... they cannot be stopped." Go robots.

And I'd say Pardon Our Dust is pretty obvious. They played it when the block was in reruns and the crew was planning the next premiere or event.

In mad (that word ) what do you think Hilda's (from OS) statement meant? Something about stars...

    I'm surprised.

I pretty much thought this is what everybody saw when they watched Mad Rhetoric.

"The world will not be destroyed... it will merely... change." I took this to mean that the people behind Toonami were saying that they don't want to ruin cartoons and how the world views it.... it will merely... change.

"I just operate the system... deciding to use it is up to you humans.." is what I think it said. I was reading this as them saying that they're not the leaders nor can they make any of all that is Toonami happen. Only way it can happen is the viewers who bring the ratings and appriciate the block.

"Anything in the way that might get in the way of our ideal must be destroyed immediately..." this pointing at how fanatic they are about bringing Toonami in the way and won't kow-tow to no stinking censors or people's preconceptions of cartoons.

"Eliminating the boundaries of human.. blah, blah, blah...." you know, knocking down barriers and all that jazz.

They they say something ominious, "Let me repeat that, if this mission fails, if we are unsuccessful.... we have no future." More, telling the viewers to never become blah, or uncaring... that if Toonami brings the best and are the best at bringing it.... and they can't change anything, anime may just become a passing fad. And then... we have no future...

"This is utterly purposterous, it's not even logical.... totally meaningless..... This is NOT meaningless!" You know how people are who don't have a clue. They see all this crazy cartoon crap as non-sensical and huff at it. But we no better!!!!

Then there's "Tokyo.... Tokyo..." giving it up with respect, and knowing where it's from....

"And we shall be the symbol of hope for the people!" more Toonami ranting like a madman, and us loving to hear it as they rave themselves to be the pinnicle of bringing anime to us without being cheap about it. And you know.... they were!

"People are like stars. There are bright ones and there are those that are dim"

Maybe it had something to do with the people above the Williams Street folk and themselves in comparison.
The dim stars aren't that bright when it comes to what Toonami fans are asking for.

Well, Hilda was refering to the outlaws she had just beat up, but the inplication comes from next two lines.

Gene: So which kind are you?

    Hilda: Care to find out?
