    Toonami newbie

    Like This Thread!
The only anime in Toonami I've ever seen was Big O. But I would like to see the other shows like Outlaw Star, Dragonball Z, Tenichi, Gundam Wing, etc.. The only thing is I would like to catch these shows from the beginning so I'm not confused next time I tune in.

So, can anyone tell me when a Toonami show like the ones I mentioned above start on the first episode?? I would really appreciate it.

[indent]The second Tenchi series, Tenchi Universe, will be starting next Thursday. The afternoon runs of both Dragonball and DBZ are early in their respective seasons so you should be able to jump in to those without much problem. Batman Beyond doesn't have a lot of continuity so you can jump into that about anytime. I'm not sure about OUtlaw Star, but I think it is in the middle of the series right now.

That's cool and all, but I would like to see the very first episode (same goes for the Adult Swim shows like Cowboy Bebop). I've seen most of the Batman Beyond shows (I'm a somewhat big Batman fan) so that's no worry to me.

[indent]Unfortunately then except for Tenchi Universe you are going to have to wait several weeks to catch any first episodes.

The second Tenchi series stands alone. You don't have to have seen the first one. The second is almost a fully fleshed out retelling of the events that happened in the first anyway. So jumping on the first episode of that would be fine.

Ok, very cool. That leads me to ask this question: What time is it on and on what days?

Aside from Tenchi Universe, there is little chance you'll find a first episode ny time soon. Dragonball Z hasn't shown its first episode in around 3 years, but Dragon Ball just started. Dragon Ball has new episodes coming, so you should be able to see the first episode in March or April. Outlaw Star is 25 episodes long on Toonami, and it sounds like it'll restart in mid-January, but I don't have a date. The episode title is "Outlaw World", look for it in the CN schedule. Nothing else will restart soon, but there's a slight chance that Mobile Suit Gundam may start and replace Tenchi when its run is over.

Toonami started its initail run of Zoids at episode 10, so if you don't mind jumping in a bit episode 4 of Zoids will air tomorrow at 6:30 AM, and Thundercats airs at 6:00 AM, which has no continuality. We really have no info on any premiers, sorry.

That's odd. Why wouldn't they show first episodes? Where do you find the CN schedule?? Do they list the episode number?

DragonBall Z is such a long series that CN hasn't cycled back around to season 1, episode 1 in years (I'm not even sure if they have the rights to those episodes - someone else can find that fact). Typically CN cycles through a 'season' of DBZ not the whole series. Right now they're cycling through 'season' 5 for the third (or fourth) time

JTurner, if you have a dvd player and the extra money and don't want to wait for the series to be run over again, go snag the dvds of the series you want to see...

Toonami didn't show the first episode because it was already airing on CN at a different time slot before it came on Toonami.

You can find the CN schedule here: http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/tv/schedule.html

Unfortunately, no, they don't list the episode number; just the title. But, like KingKoopa said, the first Outlaw Star ep is called "Outlaw World"

I don't know if I would like the series, that is why I asked to see it from the beginning. I always see the middle of it,but I would like to see it from the beginning so I am not confused.

Does the DVD have any special features?

Tenchi Muyo: Ryo-ohki! (The 13-episode OVA series). Has it's own extras disc. Including a huge Tenchi encylopedia.

Tenchi Universe, which is 8 discs, has extras on each disc.

Tenchi in Tokyo... Well, I'm not touching that 8-disc series with a 10-foot-pole, due to how bad that series is.

    Big O - 4 discs, good extras.

Outlaw Star - 3 discs. Lots of bang for your buck.

Gundam Wing is 10 discs, plus the movie. Disc extras are pretty weak there.

08th MS Team is 4 discs. Probably the best of the Gundam series on the market presently.

Mobile Suit Gundam - Presently 5 discs released. Extras are decent, but it's pretty weak compared to the newer Gundam shows that came after it. Also, it's only English language.

Dragon Ball... couldn't tell ya, the series' were never worth my time.

Perks to the DVD versions are they're un-edited(save for DBZ) and you can watch it in Japanese or English. Thus you get such lovely scenes you didn't see on Toonami as people's faces on fire and jumping out of skyscrapers in Big O. Nudity in Tenchi Muyo! Blood and booze in Outlaw Star... Profanity up the ying yang in 08th MS Team... etc. etc.
