It's a rumor that Reboot is on Nickelodeon.
It's not a rumor that Cartoon Network dropped Reboot. That is fact.
I just heard that Cartoon Network lost the rights to ReBoot and Nickelodeon got them. I don't buy it, Nick has just about never touched action animation at all, and CN funded Mainframe for the new season, I just want someone who can to disprove this, or, *gulp*, confirm it.

They officially cancelled it? When? Why?
!! Matt, from whence comes this info? Please, expand on that statement!Originally posted by Matt Wilson

I didn't say it would never come back. I just said it was dropped.
CN has no plans to air it again right now. I don't know if they were sore about it airing on a Nickelodeon affiliate or what, but there's no plans on bringing it back to Toonami for a while.
We can still be wrong about this. We all panicced when Reboot went off the air back in 2000, but that turned out alright after all.
Although I seriously doubt CN will fund a 5th season. Not after how they treated the 4th.
If Cartoon Network decides to fund a 5th season, I'll eat my hat.
But the joke would be on you, because I have no hat! HA!
(small update)
And trust me. They wouldn't remove the 6:30 showing without a reason.
If Reboot moved networks, I'm sure CN is just complying with whatever network now houses the show. Like how Animaniacs went off the air a few months before it debuted on Nick.
Oh, ok. I thought it was canned, as in they lost the rights. So they can bring it back if they want to, they just probably won't? That still sucks.
CN is very loose about the rights. I think if Mainframe got to go ahead to go somewhere else, CN would let them go.
CN may have helped fund season 4, but it was really YTV that did most of the funding. Not to mention how bad the toy deals went. And how limited the advertisement was...
EDIT: Anyone want to post something on alt.tv.reboot asking them about it?
Noone seems to have asked about it there yet. And the least I want to be is wrong about something. That's why I haven't posted anything in the news section. That's why I was 80% sure that it's going to Nick.
Until I'm 100% sure, this will stay on the forums..

Okay, updated with a little more info.
Apparently, Reboot has been on Nickelodeon Australia since March.
So CN obviously didn't pull Reboot off the air because of cross-network appearances.
That limits it down to either the fact that Reboot got low ratings(perhaps if Toonami considered ADVERTISING?!) or Reboot is still moving to another network.
I'm sure that all the answers will be revealed in the spring.
But I'm pretty sure(not fully though) that Cartoon Network won't be Reboot's final home.
Oh, we've asked the Gavster. Several times. We're getting silence -- which suggests to me the possibility of a deal in the works. Naturally, I assumed it would be a deal with CN (despite the shoddy treatment they gave the two movies). But Nick? Nick?! I hope it isn't true. Mind you, Gavin hasn't even dropped any subtle hints. Not about CN, or any network. For that matter, he hasn't given any comments to people who ask him about "plot holes" in the movies, which is causing some interest as well. My curiousity is at a frenzy right now, with no way of getting any satisfaction. I sure hope Gav makes some kind of announcement soon.Originally posted by Matt Wilson

Matt u always give the short version.
Reboot was dropped for now cauz the last 2 episodes and special at the end aren't complete yet, which r part of the last movie.
And yes CN still has reboot just takes off the air when they feel like it same with all the other shows.
See look at the schedule it still says CN on the mainframe website.
Corporate websites suck.
I mean, they do.
They're hideously outdated. Look at FUNimation's site. They still advertise season 5 as "coming in september"!![]()
And as far as I know from Fata, there wasn't going to BE a third movie. It was mentioned as a possibility if the network ordered 13 episodes instead of 8, which would mean another musical, but the network ordered 8 and only 8.
I think News Corp, Nickelodeon, and Mainframe know something the world doesn't.Oh, we've asked the Gavster. Several times. Okay, to elaborate on what I just said.Mind you, Gavin hasn't even dropped any subtle hints. Not about CN, or any network. It's my belief that Nickelodeon/Nelvana has won the $20 million bid for Fox Kids. First of all, 4Kids couldn't possibly afford to invest so much money in just two shows. Not to mention Fox would have to be able to preempt them 12 times a year.
Fox probably wants Nickelodeon to take the block because if WB won it, it would create a Saturday morning MONOPOLY. Having a rival of WB win Fox Kids is the best they can hope for.
So again, you're probably thinking 4Kids should take it. But WB has the rights to Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh for the next couple of years. So what's 4Kids going to show? How can they acquisition 3 and a half hours of shows in 9 months?
So what's Mainframe got to do with it?
Nickelodeon is on a BIG, BIG, BIG CGI push. And Nick knows that the big CGI shows usually air on Saturday on rival networks. So they'll probably put a big emphesis on 3D programming on Fox Kids.
Mainframe is probably gunning to get aired on Saturday Morning, so they can be received by a wide audience again, instead of a dinky one at 6:30 in the morning.
They'd probably be sandwiched in-between Jimmy Neutron(the Series) and Butt-Ugly Martians(the next show Nick is making a movie of). Follow that with Invader Zim, and then let Nelvana put some shows on(who doesn't want Eek the Cat back, really?), and you'd have yourself a worthy block of taking on Kids WB. Neutron proved that even the dumbest idea and visuals will attract millions of kids, so a tv series would be a big draw.
Of course, I've said a lot of "probably"s, and they may turn out wrong. But in my distorted mind, this is really how I see things turning out.
As far as editting goes, editting in Invader Zim has been very minor, and that's had quite the big of adult dialogue, so I don't think Reboot will have to go under the knife.
"Fox probably wants Nickelodeon to take the block because if WB won it, it would create a Saturday morning MONOPOLY. Having a rival of WB win Fox Kids is the best they can hope for."
[indent]Unless they are just being petty, why would they care if the WB had a monopoly? They are getting out of the business of programming to that demograhic themselves on Saturday morning so its not like the WB in control of the Fox Kids timeslot is going to hurt Fox's bottom line.
"Neutron proved that even the dumbest idea and visuals will attract millions of kids"
[indent]It may look dumb, but the movie has actually had good reviews. I have even seen it breaking into a couple of critics Top Ten lists.
I'll give you that, but if anything, FOX has had a great friendship with Nelvana in the past 10 years. Nelvana helped make them what they are(or were) today, through shows like Eek the Cat, Beetlejuice, Magic School Bus, Medabots, Cardcaptors, and even Sam and Max(which was probably their least successful show).
Nelvana has also been very close with Nickelodeon, which is most likely why they hooked up.
And yes, WB wouldn't hurt the bottom line, but I fear and dread them picking up Fox Kids. If they somehow managed to win, it would truly be the death of Saturday morning cartoons. Especially now that ABC is pulling out of the market as well(replacing One Saturday Morning with Good Morning America).
I don't think anyone touched on this, but if this rumor is actually the truth, I have a guess on why Reboot would be on Nickelodeon.
Some of y'all may not remember, but Mainframe is doing a new series called Gate Crasher, based on the comic. Originally the show was meant for Fox Kids, but MTV won bidding on the show and will broadcast it. Also, rumors abound on the 'net about Mainframe doing a CG Spiderman series, also for MTV. What I'm thinking is that perhaps Viacom (which also owns MTV, who founded Nick in the first place) signed a package deal with Mainframe, and the acquisition of Reboot for Nick could be part of it. On the upside, this could also mean that Nick or MTV could snag the rights for other Mainframe properties, such as Action Man, War Planets, or... *drool* Beast Wars...
On the other hand, Nick's never really carried any pure action shows, so odds are against it. But who knows, maybe Nick's looking to make a change in its style.
As far as official announcements from MFE go, there is no "last movie." It certainly hasn't gone into production yet; In order for MFE to put anything into production, they have to get funding first. And if they had _any_ funding at this point, Gavin would have announced it loudly on alt.tv.reboot.Originally posted by DarkMaster

Anyway, I started a thread on a.t.r. asking Gavin if he has any news. Hopefully he'll be able to tell us something.

I haven't heard the spiderman one, but Mainframe is also doing a new Betty Boop series. Not to mention one of their highest executives is one of the Flechers. (How do you spell that?) It appears that Mainframe and Viacom HAVE reached some kind of friendship, if nothing else.Originally posted by Codemonkey

Too lazy to make a sig...
So you're telling me it's no longer on at 3:00AM with Max Steel? Hmm. Give me something of interest to work with and I'll investigate personally. We do have video distribution rights, y'know.![]()
6 AM, which I'll tell you is right before I get on the bus for school, so I used to watch it. Also, I thought CN lost the rights completely, not just stopped showing it.
Also, if you have the video rights, go slap the first 2 seasons on a DVD and sell it cheap.
I do NOT want Beast Wars anywhere near Nick. *remembers the edited version of BW that ran on Foxkids*Originally posted by Codemonkey

Now if it went to MTV (along with BM and the next TF series, if Mainframe will be doing the animation) and aired next to Gatecrasher and the new Spiderman, I would be one very happy fanboy.
As for Reboot, well it seems likely that if Viacom (and everything it controls) made some sort of deal with Mainframe that they would have to remove the show from CN. But I don't see why they couldn't air it on CN and make other shows for Viacom (other companies do similar practices) unless Viacom is giving them one sweet deal. Perhaps a permanent home for Reboot? Personally if Reboot does go to one of the Viacom networks I'd rather see it on MTV alongside this new animation block they seem to be building. At least that way it could keep the darker direction the show has headed in seasons 3 &4 rather than revert to a season 1 type atmosphere the show would likely return to if any new episodes of the series were to air on Nick.
Ah, it's 3AM for me, since I'm on the West Coast, but have East Coast Satellite TV.Originally posted by KingKoopa

Hmm. This is most interesting. I shall keep an eye on it.
