Duel Masters "One for the Money, Duel for the Show" Talkback (Spoilers)

What happens when you take one part flying rat, one part alien, and one part stone creature, then mix them all up? Well, I dunno. Some kind of stew, maybe?

Last time on Duel Masters:

"Shobu enters Fire Civilization Land, but is immediately stopped by hordes of PLOOP patrol groups. Knight, Hakuoh, Mimi, and Boy George stay behind to buy time, so Shobu and Rekuta travel to the top of a volcano, where this week's PLOOP leader is turning all the Bolshack Dragons evil, forcing them to deposit PLOOPy power inside the volcano. When it reaches its limit, the volcano will reupt, allowing the PLOOPs to regain control over all five Civilization Lands! Shobu's ready to save the day, but his Kaijudo powers have failed him! None of his monsters are appearing in 3D, which means he's stuck having to face polygons with ink! Made up of many more pixels, these monsters tower over a helpless Shobu!"

This week on Duel Masters:

"Shobu, disgraced by his loss, vows to take revenge for his fallen Bolshack. Donning a black cape, Hakuoh's helmet from the end of Season 1, and gaining some really big muscles, Shobu's ready to take out the PLOOPs the old-fashioned way! But he has to do it before sunrise, or else he'll turn to stone! Will he be able to rescue Bolshack Dragon? Will the others be able to help at all? Will Knight ever put on his black shades & trenchcoat again? And where is the Master from Season 1? Is he behind the PLOOPs? All that and more will be answered...sometime in the near future!"

First episode of Duel Masters I've watched in a while, and I can see that Season 2 hasn't improved at all. This show can really suck when it takes itself seriously. I only heard maybe 2 jokes in the entire thing, and they weren't even funny. And the plot itself is just a complete mess. The show's gone from a hilarious anti-YGO to a commercial.

Turns out Shobu couldn't summon monsters because he had too much hate. Hakuoh helped him snap out of it. Meanwhile, Knight took on a LOT of PLOOP troopers and has finally fallen, while Dr. Root and the Top Duelists stave off the monsters invading the city.

is his hate against the PLOOP or something leftover from his darkness civilization training? how could Knight lose that stinks if Shobu can be hundreds of duelists in a row its a shame Knight would go down in a similar situation

Knight took too much personal damage. The PLOOPs were much stronger than the weaklings Shobu took on.

Considering that the last two episodes have focused on saving the world instead of comedy, then I'm impressed with how they turned out. I did love Hakuho's Johnny Three Horn reference though, and I hated seeing Knight fall, but with Shobu and Hakuoh both back and ready to fight I think the battle to save the world has just been taken up a level.

Dr. Root and the top duelists jumping into action was a bit of surprise. Shobu getting his summoning funk back could have been shorter, considering their original goal was to help Knight fight Nameless-PLOOP member #? Things should be interesting next week.
