Growth in the 9-14's is good, very very very good. If it keeps up maybe we'll get that coveted TV-PG rating afterall..............or not......![]()
From the latest Cartoon Network Press Release:
TOONAMI (Saturday, 7-11 p.m.)
* Tweens 9-14 delivery (553,000) advanced by 30% and ratings (2.2) by 29%.
This is versus the same time period last year. Thus, Toonami has improved ratings.
Also,
Teen Titans (Saturday, 8 p.m.)-third season to date
* Kids 6-11 delivery (856,000) improved by 54% and ratings (3.6) by 57%.
* Tweens 9-14 delivery (825,000) mushroomed by 94% and ratings (3.4) by 100%.
Teen Titans is beating down the competition and taking names. Ratings are high across demos with the 9-14 ratings substantially as good as the 6-11 ratings. Not only that, but Teen Titans 9-14 ratings have actually grown more than the 6-11 ratings.

Is Teen Titans the only show mentioned in the press release?
I would suggest that it's not the medium, but the quality of perception and expression, that determines the significance of art. But what would a cartoonist know? -Bill Watterson
It is the only Toonami show mentioned.
I'm not surprised by either statistic. I would generally think that a toonami full of premieres would beat a block with maybe only 1 or 2 premieres in the ratings. It's always good to see TT doing well.

Here is some more ratings news form an Atari press release for the new PS2 Yu Yu Hakusho game:
"According to recent Nielsen reports, Yu Yu Hakusho(R) tied with Dragon Ball GT(R) as the top-rated show on the Cartoon Network among males 9-14. During the same week, the series shot to the #2 spot on the Toonami Block, next to Dragon Ball GT(R) for teens 12-17."

What about JLU? Has the rantings improve from JL or vice versa?
My understanding is that ratings have been good, but I do not know anything more specific than that.
Why can't YYH get that kind of ratings. I like TT, but it isn't as good YYH. Stupid kids.
You get used to it. Besides, there are far worse things than not making it into a press report.Why can't YYH get that kind of ratings. I like TT, but it isn't as good YYH. Stupid kids.
I'm saddened there's no mention of Duel Masters at all.![]()

When does Duel Masters ever get mentioned? The most we've gotten out of CN refering to it is episode descriptions when they annouce the episodes for the month. Furthermore it's in reruns Duke. Chances are the ratings wont be as good and while we love that show there are plenty of folks who haven't even watched it because they assume it's no more than a poorly made YGO clone... Ah what fools they are.

Yea, but it seems the first hour is the most forgotten hour of the night...Originally Posted by Hyper Sensei

Its an hour that may be forgotten ratings wise when it comes to announcements, but it has to be doing decently if CN specifically announces that new episodes will air there for Rave Masters in their most recent press release, which they did. It also has to be doing decently for them to actually have asked for a second season of Duel Masters, which they did. Add that to the fact that Duel Masters will be airing weekdays beginning this next Monday, and I'd say the proof of additional airings proves that first hour is successful. The only reason I'm thinking Rave Masters isn't airing on weekdays as well is because they haven't aired too many episodes of it yet.
Hmmmm, even more of interest in the Atari statement. Teens 12-17.....
Makes one wonder if some of the sponsors are starting t onotice that older kids watch in large numbers too, not to mention there are alot of girls apparently watching GT.

Both good news with Yu Yu ratings and TT.

Girls watching GT? Interesting... If it weren't for the fact that it looks incredibly dated compared to the those shiny new cartoons... I'd say CN would put GT on Miguzi.Originally Posted by Weatherman
But dang it if YYH and GT are doing that well then why aren't they on weekdays?
Great news for YYH btw. I thought it dropped off the map. Hopefully Kenshin will do well and we'll have some uber anime ratings thanks to the power of shonen jump anime. (well GT doesn't really count... but it sorta does).

YYH, according to this report is doing well with 9-14 plus, thus it may not be doing as well with 6-11. To get on weeknights it may need to be also doing well with the 6-11 demo.Originally Posted by Hyper Sensei
