It ended perfectly and was a stand alone masterpiece... who needs a sequel?
Hope it's good, but is the original creator even behind it?

True enough. Even Imagawa reckons G is a finished story. But being a fan, I'll be happy if this news is true and the sequel is well handled. I've heard there was apparently already a G sequel one shot (Domon had a pupil who apparently used the 'Hyper God Gundam' and the two of them had to stop terrorists who had gotten hold of DG cells), so I wonder if the sequel manga will acknowledge it.Originally Posted by JohnCrichton

Animate the Origin. That's all I ask.
Bah, it's Neo-England's chance to get a cooler Gundam like...Teapot Gundam, with exploding sugar cubes!Originally Posted by Beatdigga
Hmm...I never thought a sequel to G would be made, animated or otherwise. This could be interesting and I hope it is done well. G Gundam doesn't get enough credit IMO, it is uniquely different from all other Gundam series and I think is the most imaginative. My only problem with a sequel is that the series ended well enough to not need a sequel.
I agree with John, I really liked the series, but it had a perfect ending. However, if they have a good enough story then I say more power to them!
Let me guess, piloted by London Powers(great-great-great-etc. grandson of Austin Powers) who has a slogan of "One lump or two?!"Originally Posted by HellCat

Bad idea. The story's over, Domon is happy with Raine and is without a doubt the strongest guy around, and I don't know how you top an adversary like the Devil Gundam. On top of that, the way it ended didn't even leave room for a sequel.
Also, more often than not the creator not being involved is a bad sign.
Maybe they'll set it a bit in the future so there's a new crisis for a new generation, or something. That's the only way it could possibly work; the adventures of Domon & company really can't be taken any further without it being anticlimatic.
I would suggest that it's not the medium, but the quality of perception and expression, that determines the significance of art. But what would a cartoonist know? -Bill Watterson
Who says they have to top the DG? It'd be manga, so I'm not expecting some all powerful villain. Even if the DG is gone, Domon and co are still the Shuffle Alliance, the protectors of humanity. Plus there are little details that could be answered. Will the wishes of many to get rid of the Gundam Fight come true? Did Neo-Japan lose the right to rule?Originally Posted by GWOtaku
It's just that all the look feel and pretty much everything about G Gundam seemed to be just for telling the Story of Domon.
I just don't see this world facilitating or needing to facilitate another story.
If you've got an idea for another Gundam series, why set it in the G Gundam universe? What's it about the GG U that this person needs to tell a story there?
Then again, maybe they wanna continue the tradition of the Shuffle Alliance a la a kind of Sentai spin.
If the story's good, I guess, why not? It's just that G Gundam was a solid masterpiece, not unlike Highlander, that just doesn't need or call out for a sequel.

Trust me, as one very vocal G fan I understand just how well it works as a standalone. But I do see potential here. Domon is strong but by the end of the show he's still only just starting to be close to his master. G is different from alot martial arts anime in that the main character doesn't become this god-like fighter who everyone has to count on to beat the bad guys.Originally Posted by JohnCrichton
The sequel could focus on the next generation of the SA, with Domon and his allies putting them through their paces. Add in 'flashbacks' to missions the SA had to under go beyond the Devil Gundam incident and end it with the crests being passed down.
(head pokes up)
What many of you fail to realize is that unlike many of the "Gundam Wars" that have dotted the many series, the Gundam Fight is one that takes place every four years in order to determine the next ruler of the world. It was the FC's idea in order to do away with war and replace it with sportmanship like the Olympics...although war can still occur with the crap that happens. Meanwhile, just because the Devil Gundam was the main enemy of the last fight doesn't mean it will resurface again. Similarly, just because the Shuffle Alliance is still around doesn't mean they have to take part in any more Gundam Fights! (though of all we've met, Sai and Allenby...maybe Chibodee would probably be the most up for the 14th Fight..if that's the next series)
Personally, while G by itself is a perfect series, I am intrigued by a sequel series. If it means legitimate enemies, cool battles, great characters, and of course all the insane Gundam designs that inspired suits from Wing onward, then this could be a lot of fun. Then again, expectation has dissapointed people before, so we shouldn't hold our breaths over this....but hey, I'd take Allenby over Flay any day!

Maybe we'll enter "Gundam Fight 14" like the end credits of the predecessor said, although I heard they intended that message to ring a bittersweet tone. I must agree with the others though, the original did conclude on a perfect note. But since for many, the moments of G Gundam faded from memory, I doubt they'd care if the story didn't transcend the standards chronicled in Fight 13.
I'd hope that in this continuation, we can reunite with the all too familiar faces...

Maybe Beatdigga can finally get his wish and Rain will die and Domon will go into a depression.

And then is promptly shot by Indiana Jones Gundam.

Meh, nothing really. I just dislike it's connection to the monarchy (something the dub made worse by calling the thing Royal Gundam). Whilst I'm sure Chapman probably liked the monarchy, not many people in real world England do.Originally Posted by Lord Dalek
