Cool idea that would work here in the USA.
While a completely Toonami channel would be awesome, it does seem a little outlandish so what if they took all those great shows from Toonami and Adult Swim (don't comment, we all know there's some stinkers) and throw them together onto one network. What failed in the UK might just be crazy enough to work in America...
I give you CNX US (for August 2004)

This channel would have a very different focus than CN. It would be going directly for the adult and teenage demographics. Kids ratings would only be the icing on the cake (well if they aren't then I suppose it'll turn into a Toonami only channel like CNX UK did, which wouldn't be bad but this would no doubt have more variety).
Some programs notices... I don't know when Squidbillies starts I heard soon so whatever... replace it with another Harvey Birdman if otherwise and Space Ghost C2C is on at 4AM because I find that the humor of Space Ghost is just that much better when you are either dead tired from being up late or dead tired because you are just getting up... .hack//SIGN is at 2:30 because I didn't have another spot for it... for now.
This would by no means be a permanent schedule, it's just the August schedule.
Also CN would still exist and it would still have Toonami once a week and Adult Swim on when it does but as like now they wont be the highlights of the network and Miguzi would be the most prodominate action/adventure block... and also comedies would be aired 10-11PM in prime time... probably OLD ones like Looney Toones, The Flintstones, etc. No need to have that action when there's plenty elsewhere.
EDIT: I threw in MSG and Gundam Wing for good measure. They would be easy enough to acquire and what's a CN action block without a hearty dose of Gundam?

Drago the dragon of Dark Fire
Great idea. Even better schedule than I could have ever imagined
It's almost perfect for the adult/older teen types.
But wouldn't we have problems with Cable companies not carrying it? Look how long Boomerang's been around and doesn't get much household coverage.
Of course given the target for your CNX is the one most advertisers would be chasing that would help. Maybe get in onto more cable systems.
The only thing that would make that schedule better is if they only aired the Tokyo/ Kyoto arcs; forgot Rurouni Kenshin GT, er, season three, ever existed; and funded the Enishi arc like they did Big O Season Two. Worried about extreme edits? Anime always gets toned down from the manga one way or another, allowing for easier censoring that keeps the story in tact. And with the manga doing so well in the States recently...Originally Posted by Hyper Sensei

Looks excellant Sensei. Now, if were a reality.![]()
What type of channel would it be? Analog or Digital?![]()
Would Jeff mind again if it's called CNX?![]()

CNX in America?
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAH!
I'm sure America would love crappy kung fu movies and only two or three anime series repeated every two weeks![]()
Cinical much Cheesecake?
Did you NOT see the schedule there that lacks any Kung Fu. We all know CNX / Toonami UK is weak sause compared to what it could be if they had the US library of action animation... much less the library of comedies.
It would probably have to start as a Digital / Satalite channel but maybe some day became a more common channel. Of course the fantasty would be to have it as accessible as Cartoon Network.

Prime Time comedy and Sunday night comedy would get the cards.

Hmmm, if there was a tradeoff between BOTP and G-Force, could I go with the one with the cheesy synth?
CN doesn't have G-Force anymore. ADV has it. So it could only be Battle of the Planets.

CNX was at it's best when it was lauched in October 2002 up to very early 2003, by then they wern't focusing well. But Toonami's no prize pig itself theres not much descent animé- most of it's kiddlywink stuff!- I even heard in October this year we will get a redub of DBZ unfortunatly by Brown Water - I'm trying to find out more on this I'm still hoping it's going to be dubbed by a proper company!Originally Posted by Cheesecake
I wish CNX was back we could have had more animé and I mean uncut stuff too. Bloody Toonami and their crappy kiddy stuff, Dual Matsers was bad enough and Pokémon a step too far I don't want to know whats next.
I'd say .hack//SIGN is possible. Beez are releasing the DVDs here with English, French and Japanese language tracks. Apparently, they're also releasing SEED later this year....could Bandai UK be about to give Gundam another go?Originally Posted by Son Gokuu
Well CNX made the "mistake" of trying to impress an adult-only audience where there wasnt a demand for one, however, kids were screaming out for a channel devoted to action cartoons since there wasnt one on british TV at the time. Toonami provided it, since there was more money to be made with Toonami than there was CNX, Bye Bye CNX and any hope of more uncut new anime! hello recycled crap like Pokemon and he-man. Interesting though..the last-time i checked they were still showing uncut Outlaw Star at 10pm, it was weird having it right inbetween He-man and Ultimate muscleOriginally Posted by Son Gokuu
American Toonami would never have a schedule as contraversal as that " Before we show Dual Masters, here's Blue Gender!"
I've said it many times before, but CNX's BIG problem was pacing. They know there was a demand and foolishly gave us everything at once. DBZ moving to it was their big push to get people to buy the channel. Now, the DB franchise is basically dead due to horrible dubs and saving the 'worst' for last (how do they expect kids to sit through DB after giving them Z and GT?).Originally Posted by Cheesecake
No, ADV owns Gatchaman. Time Warner always has owned G-Force and always will.Originally Posted by Hyper Sensei
Then why are BOTH airing on the Anime Network? Some where along the lines CN lost G-Force so I guess that's why they picked up BotP.

well, where in the budget is there for such a channel?
There isn't at this point, hence it's fantasy.

You're right! As you say they gave evreything at once, they advertised a lot on DBZ (though we had a good dub then!) and as you say GT and DB killed it off. I rememeber when we got GT and most people I know, even those who didn't know the dubs were saying to me "have you heard the voices on GT? I don't like them as they don't sound like they did on Dragonball Z!" I was explaing to them what happened.Originally Posted by HellCat
I think you're also right about showing DB last, most are used to the action in DBZ and now they've been wondering about DB, as there is no Super Sayajin and none of the going to other planets and such and even a lot of the fighting. They should have got the American version as it would have been done quicker and aired earlier.
So with the DB franchise being basically dead, Toonami are relying on Pokéman and Dual Masters. I just hope you're right saying Bandai could be giving us a try again with Gundam. They stopped showing GW. I just hope they can also bring Tenchi back on.
