Could Toonami Return to Weekdays in August?

    Like This Thread!
Yeah, it's a dream and is on the top of my list of things I want for Christmas, but could it happen?

Longer action series, like Yu Yu Hakasho, Gundam SEED, and others could use the weekdays for replay value. As popular as I see the New Toonami becoming along with their shows, I don't see how they could turn away from the demand.

Proper packaging would bring the viewers.... and waiting 'til Fall, around August would be just long enough to wait for Toonami's return to weekdays and get it completely seperated from Miguzi and its stint as an afternoon block.

well I certainly hope so! Toonami's got to many long series that I like and want to rewatch! once a week just can't cut it for very long! but what time could it come on? since it starts on saturdays at 7 maybe on weekdays it could be 7 - 9? that would leave some room for CN primetime. plus 2 hours is 4 shows and I can think of 4 shows right away that would have enough episodes by then to go daily.

    Transformers Energon
    Yu Yu Hakusho
    Cyborg 009
    Dragonball GT

start with a primetime friendly show and end with one with the other stuff snuck in the middle!

I thought for money saving reasons they might not, but even it it's just an hour, that's an hour of Toonami well used and the money spent on that Micro-Block would be minimal at best.

Cartoon Network said 7-11 PM was still "CN Primetime" at the upfront, says IGN. I doubt it's changing.

While I'd love for it to, I have a feeling that 10-11 block will be the "Almost Toonami, but for some reason it ain't" block.

It may become Toonami next Winter or sometime in 2005, especially if ratings are good.

I think it would make sense. Personally, I'm rather baffled as to why CN would abandon late afternoons aimed at the older teen demographic when shows like "Dragonball", "Sailor Moon", "Reboot", "Big O", "Gundam Wing", "Tenchi", etc. were so successful for them before. Unless, WB dictated the move in hopes of keeping the Kids WB afternoon audience by encouraging them to turn the dial to CN at 5 p.m.? (But that would seem to require WB do some promotion of CN, which it has never, never really done, even when "Toonami" was the name of the Kids WB block.)

But as long as they are going in the Miguzi direction, why not have a prime-time "Toonami"? It would make more sense than having programs for younger viewers in both late afternoon and evening hours (like CN does now in the evenings with Kids WB retreads like "Jackie Chan", "Pokemon", "Yu-Gi-Oh!", "Mucha Lucha", etc.).

    Oversaturation.
But if the programming's there (Dragonball GT will be weekdays, no stretch that other Toonami shows will join in it), why not use the readily available packaging (Just a new "That's it for Dragonball GT, Yu-Yu Hakusho is next, only Toonami" bumper and the promo or two)?

It'd be minimal work from WS's side, and it'd be more work for CN to make the packaging (Assuming we'll still see that general CN action packaging in months)...

But wouldn't that overpower the comedy side of things and give action blocks too much power on weekday nights??? I mean you wold be going from Mizugi then wait three hours and enter Toonami then in a few minutes after Toonami ended and enter [adult swim].

Not really. CN Weeknights have been mostly action anyways, from Justice League and Samurai Jack to Kids' WB acquisitions Jackie Chan Adventures and X-Men: Evolution, along with 4Kids series Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh.

Also, it's Miguzi. As it's not in the title yet, we kinda need to reinforce it.

I don't see how going from Miguzi, waiting three hours, watching Toonami, and then going into Adult Swim is any different from watching Toonami: Rising Sun right after Adult Swim, or watching Last Bell followed by Toonami...

But the thing is CN will now have three seprate action block all airing on the same day within hours or minutes with each other. That's almost unheard of; in fact I don't think that has ever been done before in TV history though I could be wrong.

CN's been all about not doing the norm ever since they were created.

No. Too big a risk, plus it would detract from their Cartoon Cartoon brands, which is their #1 priority.

How so? If they are going to air Dragonball GT there anyway... That's still 3 hours of prime time and as long as they don't toss in too many KWB shows or Totally Spies then they'll have plenty of room for comedy. 10-11pm is always action or anime. Why not make it Toonami? What would be the difference? The shows will have packaging and thus CN wouldn't have to make seperate packaging for outside of Toonami airings of Dragonball GT, Rave Master, etc.

Either way I'm guessing Rave Master will air at 10pm in August with maybe TMNT after it. Now that's a great hour of television and one that would be entirely accessable to me to watch after work and what not. We wouldn't want Miguzi mixing with Toonami now would we?

You Toonami nay-sayers just don't know when to quit... CN is doing things with Toonami again. Taking up 10-11pm doesn't sound so far fetched.
