(Jeff, you're a friend... but it's really hard finding some stuff on your site)

Anyway, nice read... continues to sum up the Toonami VS Saturdays debate.

Not so much that it's hidden where one can't find it.

I've always thought of the little articles that are hidden within the site are just nice little treats one recieves for reading other articles.

This assasination piece for example, great piece about Toonami to go along with...Watch this space...which...isn't called that...anymore...is it?

I'll just say Great Job Jeff, you hit all the major points. Nod. Then leave it at that.

Once again, people act like two blocks are at war.

I think this is a conspiracy theory...

    ...

    It's Jeff.

Thinking the blocks aren't competing, even if it's just for shows and not ratings, is... well... being blind.

Infighting in a network doesn't help anyone. There are bigger problems, like Jetix and Anime Unleashed to deal with.

Disney is such a pathetic company right now... Jetix is no threat because they don't know how to get the most out of the block. They got lucky with Power Rangers: DinoThunder turning out as well as it did but with all the focus they put on it I suppose that's a good thing. Hate for all that work that they could have been using on other series or digging up stuff in the vault to go to waste... (no that wasn't sarcasm... reeeeaally)

Anime Unleashed is in Adult Swim's territory and a lot more people have CN than Tech TV anyway.

When Saturday first started I loved it. I thought it was great to have something fun to watch on Saturday nights. I made sure to watch .hack//SIGN and He-Man and I usually stuck around to watch Armada and reruns of shows like G Gundam, Dragonball, etc. It was like a second does of Saturday morning cartoons. I didn't like that He-Man was moved from Toonami but I could live with it being on a different night given that it and TF: Armada were the only shows that had to make that switch but were still in CN's good graces... .hack//SIGN was a lots cause to CN so I'm glad they made it possible for me to see the rest despite the lame time it was on.

It wasn't until Kenshin moved to Saturday that I started to disslike the block. I had to go from happily watching a great show 5 days a week to just 1 day a week and that did not please me at all. I still watched though. I had to see how the Shishio arc ended, I was too deep into the story.

After that I saw increasingly more series go to Saturday rather than Toonami and all the edgier stuff was finding a new spot in the blocks later hours.

Despite how bad they were Zoids Fuzors (which I rather enjoyed) and KotZ were they certainly did not have to air on Saturdays. Zoids had done well on Toonami and KotZ was first planned to go to Toonami.

Cyborg 009 making the jump bothered me a little because at the time Toonami really could have used a more interesting series...

I don't care about Duel Masters... I'll check out the premiere but I'm not hoping for much.

Transformers: Energon should have been on Toonami, Armada started and finished on Toonami and Energon is the sequel. Even if it was only on fridays it would have been a great addition to Toonami and it will no doubt get reruns on the block. (it seems that Toonami may become CN's action rerun block... which is incredibly lame IMO because Toonami use to push the envelop by what was "ONLY Toonami")

I could have lived with all this because up until this point they didn't really delve into Toonami "territory", but they crossed the line with Gundam SEED and I will not forgive them for that until they make ammends.

If Saturday was Toonami I wouldn't have any complaints...

If Saturday only had originals and KWB filler (and other Saturday morning fare... heck I'd let 'em have TMNT as long it got a weekday slot as well). Infact if this happened then both blocks could get attention. Say with what they will have in April when ASA starts...

    Cartoon Network SATURDAYS

07:00 - Duck Dodgers - I think this would work well on Saturdays
07:30 - Pokemon or Jackie Chan Adventures
    08:00 - Yu-Gi-Oh! (premieres)
    08:30 - Samurai Jack
    09:00 - Teen Titans (premieres)
    09:30 - X-Men: Evolution (premieres) - a place holder for Megas XRL
    10:00 - Justice League
    TOONAMI

    Monday - Thursday:

05:00 - SD Gundam (HOPEFULLY premieres) - it's not going anywhere
05:30 - Cyborg 009 (leading up to premieres) - it needs a weekday run again
06:00 - Rurouni Kenshin (leading up to premieres) - ditto
06:30 - Yu Yu Hakusho (premieres) - the new flagship!
If Kenshin and Cyborg are out of the question then one new aquisition... say s-Cry-ed and an American action show... my choice of course would be TMNT

    Friday:

05:00 - Duel Masters (premeires) - the kiddies can do without SD Gundam for one day
05:30 - Transformers: Energon (premieres) - where it should have gone
06:00 - Gundam SEED (premieres) - WHERE IT BELONGS
06:30 - Dragonball GT (possibly premieres)
Both blocks get attention, both blocks get premieres, both blocks get good show, neither outstep their "boundaries", and everyone is happy... except for maybe you Beatdigga because you apparently cannot enjoy an anime without it's OP (even if it's a US distributor made one)... make me wonder why you watch Adult Swim Action.

Sigh, another thread complaining about Toonami vs. SVES, even though very soon we should have more informaiton and thus we should know what, if anything, that we should actually be complaining about.

Thanks for saying everything I feel HL, except of course for Gundam (since I don't like Gundam much) although I fail to see why they would go for purely Saturday ratings. Let the big boys fight it out over Saturdays, the weekday afternoons could be solidly Toonami with shows that kids love but throw a few bones to us older viewers. We have more money to spend than kids anyway even if they DO pester their parents. Plus we are fanatical enough to buy the high-priced collectors models of stuff. Also, I'm busy on Saturdays, I like watching cartoons but its more fun to go out and party with buddies on Saturdays, weekday afternoons I usually have a bit of a lull in my day and have time to devote to TV watchin'

I look forward to the day William C. Manue will join our unholy cabal of angry fanboys.

    And how!

William is just trying to keep us level headed over the "issues" and he loves Toonami but sooner or later you wont be able to defend CN's decisisions anymore Mr. Manue.

I may, but not while our information is limited and we know more information is coming.

I don't think Jeff is implying a war of any kind. He's just implicating frustration from an observer's angle. I think he's conceded that there's no underhanded motive to Saturday Night Action, it's just the way things happen. He even admits Toonami is aged. This is an article I'd hoped I'd be able to read someday on his site. Now that he admits the blame might not entirely rest on SNA, different solutions can be made.

A revamp from head to toe is what Toonami needs. I don't mean "remodel the Absolution". Eventually kids needed more than just Moltar in a poorly rendered control room. Kids need more than TOM and Sara now. I'm not even saying "new mascots", I'm saying "new format". CNF is doing better with audiences with THEIR new format, Toonami can totally stand to do the same. My opinion? Go with the Zoog model, like I demonstrated in another thread.

Yes, just like how the Tuesday night block on FOX is valiantly fighting the Thursday night block for shows. Oh wait, they're not doing that. Course that would be looking at the situation from a rational reasonable perspective..

I totally agree Toonami needs a new format. I dig TOM too much to ditch him, but they need to revamp hardcore so that we get more from less and get it often.

I just hope CN sees this and have sat down to brainstorm on some good necessary ideas.

One thing I'd like to see are focus test results of the two blocks. I'd like to see what kids really think about the intros.

I bet they really dig the Rurouni Kenshin intro. I just have a hunch about this. It's so cavity-inducing.

Right now I guess I'd do anything for a killer line-up and to see that they're really working 24/7 on the block again to make it awesome. So, I'd be willing to give up custom intros if that meant in exchange we got an equal amount of kickass trimmings.

I'd really rather not give up the custom intros, but if that means they can start working more on other aspects of Toonami to give it a more changing and accessible feeling, then I guess go for it.

I'd also like if they were able to pick and choose who got original openings. I'd rather see what Toonami could do, than watch the openings for Zoids Fuzors or Transformers Energon on the block. Definately never want to hear the DBGT rap either.

Also, without a doubt, Toonami needs that third hour back. Right now they've one half hour in which they're allowed to experiment and sometimes Fridays.

For now they have zero to no reason to change up the block much when the reruns they have get them the ratings they need and there's no sense in taking a chance and pissing off their sponsors like they did with the ill fated GRW.

I think Tooami is working on rebuilding confidence with its stagnation... so hopefully they can earn back that third hour.

I think you may be right about this. The current line-up is probably the highest rated line-up they can put together at the moment.
