So what has been the worst song in the last five years? The more I listen to the radio, the more I hear all these terrible songs. Any songs that particularly stand out as godawful and vomit inducing?

    lol..calhoun..that's a good one.. ;)

"Lets Do it Like they Do on the Discovery Channel" always came off as a perfect example of how NOT to write a song..

I'm not a fan of Creed at all..they're all a rip off of Pearl Jam...

    With a few exceptions...

for me, any music made from 1996 to 2001 sucks majorly, if only because the songs were the soundtrack to an incredibdly difficult period of my life (multiple schools, a stay in a youth hospital for making an empty murder threat to kids who were making fun, bombing out with two [not that pretty, but you can't win 'em all] girls, ad nauseam.) I started getting into 80s music in 1998, and that developed into a tremendous love for the 80s.

    Sincerely,

    That's easy as cake...

    "Who Let the Dogs Out?"

    "Woof, woof-woof.", my ***.

I can't believe that Milli Vanilli were stripped of their Grammy, but the Baha Men get to keep theirs. Sure, MV lip-synched, but their song wasn't quite as irritating.

Oh, why not; this gets my vote for 'worst song of the decade'.

Ergh, I hate that song. We may have a winner...

Though I'm also sick of that inane "cha-cha" song that all the nightclubs seem to play.

Lonestarr you read my mind. If I hear "who let the dogs out" one more time... I will not be responsible for my actions.

Hmm what else, there's been so many terrible songs, but I can't think of any right now.

How about that "I Need to Know" song. Geez, I forget who sings it right now, but it was the most over played song (and still is) on radio.

Anything by Train... aka the group that only likes to release one Single per album and play it until the end of time...

...I swear, if I hear "Meet Virginia" or "Drops of Jupiter" one more time... I'm gonna kill someone... AUGH!!!!

    I'll say--

--"Lady Marmalade". Few songs get me scurrying to the radio to turn it off/turn to another station faster. I don't know why....

...maybe because the song has maybe 15 seconds worth of lyrics? That's what does it for me.

I've noticed that as a trend lately... bands write a tiny blob of lyrics and repeat them over and over and over and over. No sir, I don't like it.

Macarena, anyone? It was everywhere for a few
months and then disappeared off of the face of the planet.

  14. Funny, I've never really liked Pearl Jam. I'd take Creed or STP over them any day. Creed And STP can be more visceral than Pearl Jam at times and more melodic at others. I just find them more musical overall.

The "I need to know," song (by Marc Anthony) got played out. But, compaired to "She Bangs" and "Who Let the Dogs Out," "I Need To Know" is "Bohemian" friggin' "Rapsody!"

Macarena? I thought I'd kill her...

I hated the Macarena so much that I even hated when "Animaniacs" spoofed it. I didn't want to see the cast of "Animaniacs" doing anything near resembling that, but they did. That and "One Flew Over The Cuckoo Clock" were the worst moments of "Animaniacs". Everyone was doing it. I was getting violent with kids who were doing that dance of damnation at a school dance when I specifically requested the DJ not play it. The DJ stabbed me in my (bleep)ing back. I was mad as a maniac, and raving as one, too. I was even punching girls (I'm past that now. I'M PAST IT, I SWEAR!) who were dancing it. I was screaming, "Hey, why don't you bite me? BITE ME, BITE ME!". I had to be escorted off the floor by an aide. This was a week before I made the empty murder threat to the kids who were making fun of me (read: The Entire Greenwood Lake Middle School). Thanks to some brief hospitalization, various medications, and 5 or 6 psychologists, I mellowed out...er, somewhat.

    Sincerely,

    John "Captain Caps" Kilduff

Anything by Brittny Spears and Christina Aguilera. They have become my archnemesis since their first appearence. If I had to chose only one song by each of them it would be Crazy and What a Girl Wants. Thinking about them still gives me nightmares.

Man, I don't know where to begin.

Personally, I can go a long time without ever hearing Shania Twain's sticky "You're Still The One" ever again. The bookstore I was working in at the time rotated between soft rock, hard rock, and country stations and that drek was on every one of them hourly. I can nominate a lot of songs from that summer. Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris." Aerosmith's "Don't Want to Miss a Thing." Sarah McLaughlin's "Eddie."

There are more recent country tunes from my stint at Radio Shack, too. "One of These Days You're Going to Love Me." No, I ain't. "I'm Already Taken" - to the funny farm, I hope.

Brittney, Christina, boy bands, Puff Daddy, do I have to list these? How about the Pokemon song "2BA Master", which was on one of the only two English stations I could get for a while?

Re: Re: Worst Song In The Past Five Years

"Drops of Jupiter" hasn't worn thin on me yet (it's getting there) but man, that "Meet Virginia" song ... yeech! I couldn't stand that song from the very first time I heard it. I don't know why really, I just can't.

Then there's that "I Will Remember You" song...it's not really that bad, but it is played OVER and OVER so many times, I retch just hearing the opening chords of it.

Well, I don't pay attention to pop songs.

But they've started running ads for some Greatest Hits collection for one of those boy bands--don't ask me which one it is--and I have to say every song sounds just like the others, which is to say that they all sound awful.

That's my worthless contribution to the conversation. ;)
