Since this movie airs tomorrow night, I figured I'd start the thread off. So who's planning to watch this tomorrow? The previews actually look kind of promising.

A drinking party for a kids movie seems just wrong somehow.

NewcomerDC, Tobias, and myself will be watching. Does that answer your question? Then, Mugen will visit us with some ratings info. It's his way of letting us know that he watched it too.

I'm going to be watching the film? Yeaaah...

It's going to be as 'meh' as the other Disney Channel films based of the DC's original live-action series. I've read through the little kids' books about the film and isn't really feeling for the film. I mean I'm not going to give anything out but finding out the ending was kinda like a big 'why' tattooed on it. I know this is supposed to be this big adventure but really, and this is a personal message to Disney, but you should've put more money on making WOWP: The Movie than the easily forgettable Hannah Montana: The Movie.

I feel like the story could've been more tighter and had it not been pulling out a plot that we've seen a thousand times before. I would rather have the Russos going on a bigger adventure when they would have to save the world from a villain and using all of the magic from every mythical being living in the modern day world to destroy New York or wanting to use that power to destroy the Russos from their first ancestors causing a chain reaction of erasing the present-day Russos from existence. Heck, why not go the Harry Potter route and make a story about a group of evil wizards and witches using past characters, such as Gigi, Alex's old bully or her "never-seen-in-every-episode-and-one-of-many-forgettable-characters-in-the-series" boyfriend Dean, to be trained in the dark arts and to use their skills to destory the Russos. Then again, they would have to be part of that secret group from the very beginning of the series even if it was never mentioned in the TV show.

Maybe have Harper become evil after being tired of Alex showing off her magic and have her get into a heated magic battle against her best friend.

Any of those ideas might be run-of-the-mill but the, to me, sound somewhat better than what we've been given in the commercials we've been seeing on TV since June/early July.

They've already gone the Harry Potter route with the Wiztech episodes. Your idea sounds like something from Power Rangers Mystic Force.

You sound so bitter. Did one of WOWP's writers run over your dog?

Eazy there, whats got you so fired up over this? I feel its a good show :)
It gets better as seasons go by. I like Harry Potter too but don't see it being so simular. The TV movie looks great to me. All the actors look like they put a great deal of effort into this film. Drinking during a childs show? LOL That does sound wrong :p

I don't think it's gotten better. I just think you can tolerate it more now. This show used to bother me in the beginning because they finally put hispanics on TV yet have them act like white people. Which is unfair seeing how Raven was allowed to act Black and the show's writers were able to add a lot of Black humor. So, Raven gets a pass but not Gomez. Kinda messed up. And, yes, I'm Hispanic. Just an FYI. But, now, I don't really care anymore. I accept it for what it is.

Wait, if their parents never met how do they still exist?

You can call the show a mixed bag. The show still has its flops and the last one, the fourth entry in the "Wizards vs. Vampires" series should've just been a stand alone episode with no relation with the other three.

And even if these actors put their effort in this film, it'll still probably be passable like some of the other DCOMs earlier this year save for maybe Dadnapped since, well, it was okay, but there were still some parts of the film I didn't like.
No I don't sound bitter. I just think there's more potential in the show that I haven't seen just yet.

I thought about that too. If their parents never met, then they really shouldn't exist or exist in a universe where they're with one parent, most likely the mother, married to another man. Though, that would also mean that they wouldn't have any memory of their actual father. They might address it in the movie, but they also could just say it was because of some kind of magic spell/protection thing.

I thought it was okay, and the special effects were better than ususal.

    Much better than Dadnapped!

I actually really, really liked this movie. The acting was natural and believable, the special effects were impressive for a DCOM and I've really felt for these characters. There were scenes that were intense and dramatic (which surprised me), and of course there's some comedy and action.

But I gotta admit...I got a little teary-eyed with Selena Gomez's emotional scene. She's a really good actress, best on Disney Channel.

Hilary Duff's a bit more believable in her crying in Lizzie McGuire and Cadet Kelly than what I've seen in other DCOMs.

Most DCOMs, even with some emotional scenes, never really made me cry. It's probably because while they're not theatrical movie-caliber but really there won't be tears coming from these eyes since most of them went towards Up. Everything that made me cry from looking back at the Fredericksons life together all the way to the funeral among other scenes proved that it was better than what the Mouse House had been putting out so far and that also means triumphing over Disney TV flicks.

So now that the wizard tournament to see which Russo would use the Stone of Dreams is over and done with, I bet that we won't have another one that, as some of us had said, with great special effects and will probably be the definitive end to the series when we finally find out who will be the family wizard.

Also where in continuity does this movie sit among the series? With it being released post the release of the 'Wizards VS. Vampires' quadrilogy, I wonder if the film was after the two episodes of the Wizards On Deck with Hannah Montana crossover or is the film seperate from the show altogether.

Hilary Duff?? Hahaha! The girl can't act. That's why her career went nowhere. Personally, I think Selena Gomez nailed it, she really made me believe that she was scared and helpless. Most people agrees with me, she really does have potential, the same with David Henrie. Heck, the whole cast of the movie did a great job.

Maybe it was me but Duff was alright back in her hey-day. Maybe it's because I just can't believe in some of these Disney Channel kids when they're told that they have to act sad. If I get to check out WOWP: The Movie during its "Special Effect Saturday" tonight, I'll probably just restate that I didn't feel anything with Selena trying to be emotional.

I will agree that after she left Disney and went to be in the film War Inc. and getting one of the NHL players as a boyfriend, she pretty much disappeared in front of our eyes.

I really liked it, too. It was slow and kinda "meh" for the first 45 minutes or so, but then it picked up and became really good. I think my favorite scenes were the ones between Alex and Justin jumping over the levitating rocks and around the campfire. I also don't think I would have appreciated those scenes as much if I wasn't a regular watcher of the show — it was some nice dialog that rewarded long-time viewers.

The special effects were surprisingly good, too. The drumsticks Jerry charmed to play the steel drums were the fakest-looking thing, but everything else looked pretty great.
