Five Iron Frenzy and The Beatles.
No Doubt (Pre-"Return Of Saturn")
Dance Hall Crashers
Dave Matthews Band
Reel Big Fish
Less Than Jake
Stuff I'm getting into:
Jimmy Eat World
Well, there's only one *band* I like, and that's Garbage. Though their last album wasn't so good compared to their previous two in my opinion. The lyrics are good, it's just, the music isn't as great as it was before.
I like too many bands to count, so I'll just list a few.
And my all time favorite band is.....Borknagar.
Yes, my tastes here are exclusively metal. I like many other types of music, but all of them fail in comparison to metal.
Does anyone else listen to metal?
Get Up Kids
oh.. and can't forget Tenacious D
Anyone else going to the Warped Tour this summer?
Technically, Megadeth always amused me.. Anthrax - I liked their their stance against the Metal Myth and their Sound Of White Noise album was great... Slayer had some great stuff (War Ensemble) - Loved Skid Row's poodle rock metal in the Early nineties and many industrial metal bands like Die Kruppes, NIN and X-CNN. Never been a massive fan of the arrogant Metallica although the S&M concept album was indeed interesting.
Some of my all time favourite albums verge at least on the edge of metal. Faith No More's Angel Dust and King For A Day, Rocket From The Crypt's Scream Dracula Scream! Anthrax's Persistance Of Time, Megadeth's Rust In Peace. Cool..
Bush- Razorblade Suitcase is one of my best of the time
Esthero- highly underrated group. The ultra cool-out album Breathe From Another is one of those rare CD's where damn near every song is good.
And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead- just got into these guys. To me, their sound is new and refreshing.
What about AFi
Bouncing Souls and
seatbelts(they do some of the cowboy bebop stuff.)
any of you guys into that?
Well, at the very, very tippy top of my list, is:
Rush (words simply can't express the new album. )
And the rest (in no particular order) are:
They Might Be Giants
I Mother Earth
Tears for Fears
Stone Temple Pilots
Siouxsie & The Banshees
Alice in Chains
Ben Folds (both current and as "Ben Folds Five")
Béla Fleck & The Flecktones (how can you not love a group that makes a song named "Cheeseballs in Cowtown"? )
Barenaked Ladies (although I prefer their older stuff)
Nine Inch Nails
Pain of Salvation
I'm sure there are others, but I'm coming up blank now.
Ah, The Pixies, Frank, Stone Temple Pilots, Tori Amos, Garbage, Alice In Chains. I like it.
I think I'll add some more! PJ Harvey, Compulsion, The Breeders, Throwing Muses, Belly, PAW, Pavement, Kerbdog, Amy Mann, The Eels...
The following are almost perpetually in my CD player:
Jimmy Eat World
Goo Goo Dolls
and the non-bands:
and a ton of assorted anime and video game soundtracks (I especially like the orchestrated Final Fantasy and Zelda stuff).
Rather an eccentric mix, I know.
Don't really have a favorite...
These bands I like because I think they're overall good and like their style, and of course for the songs they've written too:
Guns N' Roses
I am obessed with Savage Garden. But, other things I like are: Darren Hayes(former member of Savage Garden), The Beatles, Hollies, No Doubt (before they became too techno), Kinks, and Sumpremes. I have alot of older stuff for a 16 year old but, I am adnormal!
Plate techtonics and the key of funky
There are only two because there really aren't any artists whose music I consistently enjoy, but these three defy those odds:
-"Weird Al" Yankovic
-Group X: Arabian Rap Sensation
Those working their way up:
-Andrew W.K. (Get his album. It is AWESOME)
-Old Metallica (Black Album and earlier...even the Black album is a little much)
-Black Eyed Peas
Pah! I knew I forgot some...
I need to add:
No Doubt (the first two albums)
to my list.
anybody here listen to soundtrack stuff from anime movies? i like to jam out to the Mononoke and Akira stuff.
red hot chili peppers
alien ant farm
there are others I just don't feel like writing them all
Faith No More
Fear Factory (of course)
Corrosion Of Conformity
and the strangest one (to me, anyway) Cradle of Filth
