I just graduated from college! It feels incredibly weird to be done with class. I'm happy and sad, anxious and calm, all at the same time. I am definitely relieved though.

I won $100 on a lottery ticket the other day, and rather than save it like a good little girl, I wasted it on blu-rays and Portal stuff. Hee hee. But hey, at least I got the Aperture decals I needed for my car.

It's been almost two weeks since my Commencement Ceremony from college, even though it feels longer than that. It was a strange day since despite waking up early to get to campus on time, our van broke down, although luckily near my college and a couple of gas stations. The owner was able to give us a ride. On the bright side, we avoided the problem of finding a place to park. The ceremony was long, but it was nice to see my uncle, who teaches there, hand me my participation certificate. We took some nice family pictures, my uncle drove us back to the gas station once the car was repaired and my Mom, Dad, older brother and I had a really nice lunch together.

Even though I was announced with the title summa cum laude, I still have a couple of requirements left to take care of before actually getting my diploma. I don't mind since the goal was just to walk with this semester. It does feel weird that after being so nervous about getting back to campus and then getting used to it again, I won't have another class on that campus again. I really enjoyed almost all of the English classes I took and the teachers were quite nice. I definitely plan on keeping contact with the school and a few teachers though.

I've been just relaxing for the past couple of weeks. It feels nice to catch up on a few shows I've been too busy to watch and read just for fun. A large part of me wishes that we could get a little puppy dog to take care of though. Since I'm going to be mainly at home for the time being, this would be a good time to get a puppy used to the new environment, as opposed to when I start working on my last two requirements, it would help both myself and my Dad get out of the house a bit more often and having a puppy to take care of would help the house feel less empty. Plus, we were waiting until I was done with the semester before really thinking about it, but my Dad is just saying maybe someday. He's probably worried about the financial aspects of taking care of a puppy, which I can totally understand, but it feels kind of sad to be pushing it off now when we could be looking around for a puppy in a local area looking for a home. Though, there are some days where it's too sad to think of another puppy dog living here, so it's kind of emotionally confusing for me as well. I just hope that we could find another puppy to love and care for in the not too distant future.

Hi, everyone. I haven't had a chance to mention how my cruise went since I'm back. Here's what happened:

The cruise ship itself was pretty good. I enjoyed the food, the shows, and the casino regardless that I lost $100. I just wish I could've enjoyed myself better when I was at the swimming pool all-day Tuesday. I was watching an awful lot of couples and young adults enjoying themselves and going wild while I sat underneath the shaded area and just watched. Regardless that I didn't want to get involved with the craziness, I still felt kinda isolated and lonely. St. Thomas was very nice. They had some nice shops and I enjoyed the beach for a while. I also enjoyed St. Lucia where I was able to watch my relatives go zip-lining. The hill to get there would've been too much of a climb for my delicate health. I didn't like Barbados at all because it was way too humid and a lot of the people were very rude. St. Kitts was ok since we took a jungle ride through most of the island. That is until the vehicle broke down 3 times and we were stranded for an hour till another vehicle came so we weren't able to enjoy the island's beach. At St. Maarten, the island tour was nice but the beach we went to was horrible because the workers were very rude to everybody. Finally, In Puerto Rico, we took a tour of the Bacardi rum factory which was ok but I didn't care too much for it. I wanted to see more of Puerto Rico but it rained the whole day.

Altogether, the cruise was nice, but I REALLY wish things had went a little better.

Also, I just went to my neurologist (brain doctor) for my test results I took before my trip. Regardless of a little volume loss caused by age, he said there was thankfully nothing wrong with it. However, he DID diagnose me with mild autism which is why I sometimes panic and get anxious often. It's also why I don't interact with people too well. Otherwise, I'm ok.

Oh, I guess no one here at TZ would be interested to hear my comments on Winx Club: Season 4 that's now on Nickelodeon. I happen to still love that show and I'm very happy that Nick bought the rights to show it UNCUT. I thought Nick did a great job with the Winx Club: Secrets of the Lost Kingdom movie. I thought it was fantastic.

Finished moving my PC from it's subpar useless OEM case to a nice new mid-tower with PLENTY of air flow. Next up on the list, new motherboard and OS upgrade.

Yes. I probably should have just made my own from the start, but I'm still learning and I think transforming a pre-made is a pretty good way to learn.

I ended up buying a box of the latest Yu-Gi-Oh Set, Battle Pack Epic Dawn and ended up getting some pretty good pulls. Ended up getting the high dollar card from this set, Tour Guide From the Underworld. Not 1, but 2 of them from a box.. This card had a very interesting history for being one expensive card. It used to go over $150, now from checking eBay it seems to average about $40. Then when I ended up buying more spare packs I ended up getting yet another Tour Guide these past few days. Either this high value card is easier to find even though it's a rare card in the set, or I'm one lucky guy. I might build a deck with my 3 Tour Guides, trade one to my friend on another board or I could just sell all 4 of them off and get extra cash in my pockets.

I've been buying Battle Pack: Epic Dawn packs as well! Getting a job where they sell Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and the recent Ra Yellow Mega Pack (Yay! Common Judgment Dragon!) have got me addicted again. So far I've only bought about 8 packs (Probably not getting a box which the store actually carries as it's out of my price range, might get one of those Sealed Pack kits with 10 packs and a mat though), I pulled Tour Guide the other day as well, also some other stuff I wanted like Skull Archfiend of Lightning, Adreus, Keeper of Armageddon, Beast King Barbados, and some other cool stuff. I'm really hoping to get Raigeki, Dark Magician of Chaos, and Obelisk the Tormentor out of the set. The former two are banned, but I really want them (The Dark Magician cards are my favorite and I lost my copy of Dark Magician of Chaos a long time ago), while I just need to get all of the Kazuki Takahashi art cards in my collection (Might even renew my Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha subscription despite never really reading it just to get Slifer).

I love the black embossed Rare's in this pack, although Starfoil Rares just like cheap and cheesy.

Oh yeah, BPED is one neat way to build a collection. I'm not sure how much your paying, but I do know that my local hobby shop sells one pack for $1.99, while places like Target sells a Blister with 2 packs for $3.99. Not bad all things considering. 5 cards per pack at that price, that ain't too bad for me. But yeah, I did end up getting Dark Magician of Chaos, in both rarities.

As far as cards I want, I ended up getting quite a lot of Gem-Knight Pearls (Something I really wanted and glad it became legal with this set.), Witch of the Black Forest (Banned, but still a favorite of mine), Fabled Raven, Forbbiden Chalices/Lance, Fiendish Chain, Gorz,. My list goes on and on for these, As for what I really want, I just want some DoomCaliber Knight and Blizzard Dragons. I only got like one DoomCaliber Knight and zero Blizzard Dragon.

I do like the Black text as well. Shame the Xyz monsters don't have a fun color to differentiate themselves as a rare. Guess the fact that they're Xyz should be a good indicator of their rarity.

The Walmart I unfortunately work at (Only one more week though, which also means no more buying Yu-Gi-Oh! cards) has $2 boosters, blisters with two packs for $4, Sealed Duel sets with a premium mat and 10 packs for $20, and one booster box for $72. I got one of the Sealed sets today and pulled Gem-Knight Pearl, two Wind-Up Zenmeisters, another Adreus, my long awaited Dark Magician of Chaos, Fiendish Chain, another Fabled Raven (This one is a Starfoil rare), a Doomcalibur Knight, Cybernetic Magician (I've wanted this one for a long while as well), and some other decent cards that escape me at the moment. I already pulled one Blizzard Dragon, wasn't it only released once previously as a Secret Rare (I think it won 4kids Design Your Destiny Contest).

I have a ton of Gorz's, I bought a bunch of those Dark Legends blisters back in the day, and the Yu-Gi-Oh! R volume it came in (I have all of those). I was wondering if it was in this though, since it would fit the whole build your own deck with it. I'll probably get one more Sealed Duel set thing and maybe another pack or two and then that's it for me until I can get a new job. I mainly just wanted some new cards to build new kinds of decks with my brother anyway (I got a Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon tin and the latest structure and starter decks for that reason as well). Now I have a bunch of Xyz which is nice. Wish I new when Viz was sending me my Shock Master for my WSJA subscription...

Two steps left and I'll have my gaming rig finished (even though all I game are retro and Valve :p). I just need the new motherboard and a retail copy of Windows Ultimate.

I figure the Ultimate purchase is justified, since the Windows 8 interface is pretty much smartphone + Apple, and since I really dislike that kind of "app" environment, I'll likely not upgrade operating systems until I'm forced to. Plus I'll be able to replace as many components as I want, since a retail version is not tied to a single motherboard.

Sounds like it's time you move exclusively to linux.
Think of the joy you'll find in spending days tracking down the obscure reason why a 10 year old game can never run on your system using Wine. Not to mention all the strange Russian men you'll meet while trying to find out.

I already played around with Linux, and while I like it, I have to have at least one Windows machine. I don't want all these Steam and itunes purchases to go to waste.

Just got back from seeing Madagascar 3. I wasn't expecting to be entertained so much. It was great, go see it. It's not at all like the plot was anything spectacular, but the animation was stellar and the writing was constantly clever.

I didn't think this would happen, but my cat has gotten picky. She refuses to eat dry food if it gets soggy from the water she splashed into it. Not fair, I can't be wasting money like this.

On a lighter note, I managed to rip my pants at work. Not the Spongebob kind though, thankfully. I tore a hole in the knee and I don't even know how I did it.

The cat will eventually eat no matter what food you put there, it won't go hungry.

I am having the worst experience I've ever had with a girl I have been close friends to since 7th grade, I just graduated. We on and off liked eachother ever since we met, we even dated for a month back in 9th grade, but it didn't work out. Over the last few months we started growing more affectionate. She'd come lay her head on my shoulder, I'd put my arm around her, and we would be happy. Well, last week I went on a graduation celebration in the form of a cruise with all my friends, including her. I had already been thinking about asking her out again, and my best male friend even told me, along with several others, how crazy she is about me. When me and her finally were alone to talk about it, my whole world just shattered right there. She isn't ready for a relationship, but both her and I really adore eachother, she broke my heart, and I broke hers. I sit here not able to do hardly anything a week later except think about her, and now she is avoiding me for who knows what reason. Advice?

I wish I knew what to tell you man, but the mind of a woman is a fickle thing. I don't pretend to understand it. I went out with this girl for quite a number of months. She told me that she loved me, and I wasn't sure, but I thought I felt the same way. My parents didn't like her though, and about a month ago, at my parents' insistence, we broke up. It was only after I lost her I realized just how much she meant to me. I was miserable, so much so that I finally decided that I don't care what my parents say or think, I'm going to go out with this girl anyway. So I called up her friend and told her that I wanted to ask this girl out again, and can she arrange for us to meet. She told me it's not a good idea, that this girl has gotten over me and actually was just started crushing on this other guy and was about to go out with him. (Yes, less than a month after telling me she loves me, she's over me and found someone else.) I was devastated. Then this girl calls me and cried about how unfair I'm being (apparently her friend told her I wanted to ask her out again) and how I should've realized what she meant to me earlier. And she's right. I messed up, and now have to live with the consequences. I asked her if she'd give me another chance, as selfish as that is, but she said right now she couldn't, she'll think about it, but probably not now, possibly never, and I have to move on. I'm honestly glad she's happy though.

Worst weekend in the history of my 25 years of life! Most of you have probably heard by now about the storm that hit the MD/VA/DC area this past week and the issues with power loss we are experiencing. If not, you're probably in the same boat as me and didnt have internet access on account of the power outages. Here's what happened:

On sunny, record breaking hot friday afternoon the power went out at my place but i thought nothing of it since the power company said it will be back by 8pm that evening. So my fiance and i hunkered down for 4 hours staying indoors to keep the cool air from escaping and the blinds closed cause the setting sun shines in on my side of the building, both of us expecting nothing major to happen. Well a few hours go by, we call the power company again but the message changed to one that didnt provide and eta of when we get power back. Well, we decided to go out for dinner since the apartment was getting pretty hot. Not even a few minutes after we arrive home later that evening, this baby monster of a storm hits us with lightning that lit up the sky like strobing lights in a nightclub. Winds of 65mph were clocked and the rain was pummeling out windows. This lasted a couple hours and by morning all was clear as if nothing had happened... Oh except we still had no power, it was getting super hot, and the neighborhood looked like it was hit by a freaking hurricane.

Once again no eta as to when power will be restored, so we decided to head out to the movies to stay cool on another sweltering day. We come home later that day since we had nothing else to do and everywhere was getting crowded, but we find out half my condo complex has power the other doesnt. Guess which one i was on.... Ofcourse saturday refused to end because even though it was the hottest night we have experienced so far (with no breeze), the ear peircing fire alarm goes off startling us awake. We stand outside on the grass, get bit by mosquitoes, and grumble our misery to the rising moon before walking back up the 4 flights of stairs and try to get some sleep.

So after losing more water weight in the form of sweat that night, sunday rolls around with still no word as to when power will be restored. By then we were tired from lack of decent sleep, my back hurt from sleeping on the coolest part of the house (the floor), my ankle was swelling up from the bites procured the night before, our phones were dying, and our food was going bad because the fridge was off. No choice but to spend the day at the movies again and find out barnes and noble put up a sign that asked us not to charge our electronics there anymore on account of the huge usage the day before. We decided to look for a mini generator in hopes it will at least power a fan, but lowes and home depot were out and neither had battery powered fans. We tried to find a hotel room for the night but there were no vacancies; however, a bit of luck shined down on us and we snatched a room for tonight. We finally heard back from power companies and they said power will be restored by tuesday or wednesday. We are hoping it will be back by tuesday cause its forcasted to be a hot day and night, but with a possibility of another storm rolling in tonight, i'm doubting it.

I'm trying to get my homework done now, but since i cant use my printer, i'm hoping my professor will cut me some slack and accept a handwritten assignment for now. She already postponed the most important assignment till wednesday, but i still need to get some stuff done by tonight (luckily i managed to email one assignment on the weekend).

    Seriously, worst weekend ever....

UPDATE: POWEEEEEEEEEEER!!! It's back! Huzzah! *does silly little happy dance* Although it did trigger the fire alarm, and since i was away, i thought my dog was going to poop himself out of fear since he was in the house the whole time it was going, but he didn't. He just drooled about a bucket of saliva, so his bed is getting washed as a result. The fridge stank so bad though, but it's all cleaned out now, so we're having condiments and alcohol for dinner. We're almost back to normal. I'm just waiting for the freezer to make me some ice so i could put it on my very swollen ankle.

:^: Now there's a coincidence. I too have just survived one of the single worst weekends in recent memory.

This is my first post in 2 days and 3 nights, as this is the first time I've had internet access or any kind of electricity in my house since Friday night, when a brief but EXTREMELY powerful summer storm wiped out much of the power in the tri-state area (my home state of Maryland, DC and Virginia).

We first lost power on an inhumanly hot Friday night at about 11:00 PM. I figured it was just a typical summer brownout, since as previously stated it was insanely hot, so I just shrugged it off and went to bed early, listening to cracks of thunder and literally swimming in my own sweat. I figured the power would just come back sometime in the early AM and wake me up; imagine my surprise when everything was still off in the morning and 1 of my brothers tells me that this summer storm was a killer that struck the entire tri-state area, knocking down several trees on top of power lines and leaving hundreds of thousands of homes now without power.

So for the next 2 days and 3 nights, I'm either sweating like a pig in my hot hot powerless house, going into serious tech withdrawl since everything that I like or need to do involves electricity or I'm going out to find somewhere, anywhere where there's power and people or I'm calling the power company to find out how close they are to getting power back to our grid (it turns out, not very close at all; there are tons of folks without power and they have to bring in technicians from out of the state to rectify this problem; they told us on Saturday that our complex would get power again at 9PM, but that turned out to either be a lie or an over-estimation) or I'm watching all of the food in my fridge gradually spoil and I can't cook or prepare anything anyway since my microwave and oven are also electric and having my showers get progressively colder and colder (it turns our hot water heater is also electric--something I honestly didn't know) and trying not to broil to death or drown in my own sweat in my sleep since since it's still crazy hot.

On Sunday the blocks to my house's left and right eventually get power again, but my complex is still off the grid, then we get ANOTHER storm on Sunday night. I'm not ashamed to say that I dang near cried when Monday morning rolled around and we were STILL devoid of electricity and air conditioning. I have never missed just vegging out in front of the TV so much in my entire life.

By Monday, it was near-descending into Lord of the Flies in my neighborhood and especially in our house; never cut a family of techno-geeks off from their computers, the internet and electronics. We're draining all of our portable devices and can't charge them since the outlets are all dead, we have to keep our food and drinks in a cooler since the fridge is dead, and it's so hot that the ice melts in just a few hours; I'm pacing around like a rat in a cage and most of my neighbors are ditching the scene to stay at hotels or with friends or relatives who have power; something I'm begging for us to do since thought of sitting in my house in the dark like a Druid and trying to get a minute of sleep in my hot house for another night is scaring what remaining fluids I have left out of me. So of course when my twin calls the power company one more time and gets the message that this time we're supposed to get our power back at 5:30 this afternoon, we're all a little skeptical, but earlier that morning we spotted crew and trucks for the very first time since this whole ordeal started, so they probably weren't full of it this time.

Sure enough, we did get back on the grid eventually. The message was off by about 10 minutes (power was restored at 5:40 PM, not 5:30 as the tinny voice claimed) but I danced my little jig (well, not so little) regardless.

So I've got a ton of unread emails to read through, I've got to restock my fridge again since most of last week's groceries went bad real fast and I've got a ton of cleaning, chores, cold drinks, hot showers and just plain living with electricity as opposed to living like a castaway to do, but I have never been happier to go back to what passes for normal in my life.
