Maybe a decade or two ago, but now? It's hard for me to imagine CN making a Mad Max series, or Nick doing Paranormal Activity.

Ugh. I can't stand all of the visitor posts on Sprout's (as well as Universal Kids) Facebook page. All I see is "where did my favorite shows go?", "Why are you copying Disney and Nickelodeon?", "We're never watching this channel again!", and "UNIVERSAL KIDS SUXX! XD" It sickens me.

Why could Universal not have replaced Cloo or Esquire with this new Universal Kids channel instead of Sprout? Did these channel spaces just disappear or what?

To be fair that would've meant the channel aired content for adults in the past (hell, the former used to air Cops, and the latter aired Parks and Recreation).

They were closed before the rebranding was announced. Besides, ratings and cable cutting play a part. But still, it'd be just a few shows they'd have that's relatively new.

Also, SOAPNet's (you know, adult soaps) replacement is in fact Disney Junior.

Anyway, on Nowhere Boys, the word "Hell" was used several times. Talk about a bit of an 180 there, but this doesn't seem like the 2-12 type of show with the mild language. I get that they're not Disney but it's going to be seen as a legitimate reason to complain.

Oh boy, a lot of parents will get angry if their preschoolers repeated that. Hell, someone already repeated "stupid".

Sorry for the double post but today they aired a sponsored version of The Ollie and Moon Show promo with no Universal Kids mention or branding, just the mentioning of Sprout.
EDIT: And The Jungle Bunch's rating is still TV-Y.

Very interesting. I've been seeing the Facebook comments on Sprout's post about the rebrand as well and geez, many of them really weren't happy and some said that they got the package because of Sprout and is going to downgrade. It's really crazy.

It's best if we leave them alone. They can complain all they want but Sprout is now Universal Kids and there's nothing we can do about it (and at least people weren't THIS butthurt when Discovery Kids became The Hub!)

It probably helped that it was one general kids network replacing another.

I remember someone posted a video of their child CRYING due to the change. Why would anyone do that?!

If a cable channel being slightly different is enough to set the kid off, I'd hate to see their reaction to actual problems.

The one thing people need to realize is that Sprout was ad supported from the start, and the cultural/business differences between the original main partners, mainly PBS and Comcast, especially after the latter's buyout of NBCUniversal and giving them control. Ratings matter, and if the parents really cared they could've requested Sprout in more homes. If Comcast wasn't focused on everything it could've invested in bigger properties, more promotion, marketing, etc.

I found a larger version of the Universal Kids On-Screen Bug Logo.

    Compared to their main logo.

As you know Sprout removed The Berenstain Bears from their website because they're obviously not airing it anymore. But here's a list of shows that are no longer on the Sprout portion of the network but are still on the website:
    1. The Jungle Bunch (now on the Universal Kids portion of the network)
    2. The Land Before Time (hasn't aired since September 8)
    3. Astroblast (hasn't aired since December of last year)
    4. The Chica Show (hasn't aired since June 2)
    5. The Good Night Show (all of its timeslots are now the Universal Kids portion of the network)
    6. YaYa and Zouk (hasn't aired since last year)
    7. Zou (hasn't aired since March 26)
    8. Stella and Sam (same fate as Zou)
    9. Clangers (same fate as Astroblast)
    10. Noodle and Doodle (hasn't aired since Mother's Day)
    11. Sydney Sailboat (same fate as Astroblast and Clangers)
    12. Zerby Derby (hasn't aired since I don't know when)

Right now Universal Kids is completely skipping Episode 4 of All Hail King Julien - they're re-airing the first episode as we speak, and they'll do it again with Dragons: Riders of Berk!

And now they're airing a real promo for Top Chef Jr., it premieres October 13 at 8/7c replacing Little Lunch/Hank Zipzer.
    EDIT: Here's the promo.
