You know, from interviews I've seen, the Toonami creators hated both Hamtaro AND Wulin Warriors (the shows were forced upon them by corporate executives, or something like that).

But they at least decided to have fun with Hamtaro (going by the Toonami intro):

I vote for Michiko and Hatchin. I wasn't crazy about it, but it's a heck of a lot better than the boring slog that was Dimension W

I don't think the Toonami crew really hated Hamtaro as a show, I think they just didn't want to air it. I think one of them said on Pre-Flight they actually liked it.

As for this match up: :(

Two terrible shows. Just terrible. Guess I'll go with Dimension W. I found Michiko & Hatching to be worse.

Dimension W, M&A was a little too loud for my taste.

I haven't seen much of either show but I think I'll pick Dimension W.

Michiko and Hatchin. Dimension W is one of the worst shows Toonami has ever aired.

I'm going to go with Michiko and Hatchin. I had my fair share of problems with it. Hatchin's adopted family were so pointlessly cruel to the point where I thought that the children would grow up to be murderers. In retrospect, I was kind of disappointed that they didn't follow up on them after Hatchin was taken because of how horribly they all were. I know it was to make going to Michiko more reasonable for Hatchin, but they just went so far in the first episode to the point where it was emotionally draining and I really would have liked to see more payback for their downright evil behavior. The episodic format of the show kind of worked, but it also resulted in some pretty dull episodes. Not to mention the supporting cast was so boring. Even so, it did have some good episodes, I liked seeing Michiko and Hatchin becoming closer over the course of the series and the ending was easily one of the highlights of the series.

Dimension W on the other hand had a promising start only to become a convoluted mess. Say what you will about Michiko and Hatchin, but at least that show had some idea of what it wanted to be. Dimension W couldn't decide on a single thing to keep its story, characters or world consistent and engaging. I don't know if I disliked it enough to call it one of Toonami's worst shows. I was more disappointed than anything else because the first few episodes were actually pretty solid with its setup, but it was still a convoluted mess of a series. I still have no idea why Funimation decided to put so much money into this series.

Powerpuff Girls all the way. PPG was a hilarious subversion of superheroes in general, whereas Super Friends is just 70's schlock (though that PPG/Super Friends crossover ad was pretty hilarious).

Powerpuff Girls, sure Superfriends was great but it just feels a little dated now.

Super Friends. It's silly and not very good, but as much as I like PPG, if you ask me, it had no right to air on Toonami.

    The Powerpuff Girls

I had my own dislike of PPG being on Toonami before. To me it said "well, there's an action element, it's worth showing" - especially when they had it on a few other times during the day. To me, hadn't see too much of that with the other shows. I'd gotten over it though. :p

I couldn't find an actual Toonami promo or intro for Super Friends brief time on Toonami. But I did find the above Cartoon Network "groovies" for Super Friends, and it's from the same time period (around 1999).

EDIT: Well, I did find this promo (about the retiring of Thundercats and the introduction of Super Friends) from 1998:

That promo for "Powerpuff Girls" above is for the TOM 1 era, from 1999. But Powerpuff Girls was still airing on Toonami in 2000/2001, when the 2nd TOM was on the air:

I love both shows, but neither one felt right for Toonami.

I'll go with PPG. While I wasn't a huge fan, I did enjoy it more than Super Friends and I think that the original series has aged better too. I can see why neither would really fit for Toonami. Super Friends has more of a camp factor going for it and PPG would be a bit light on action compared to their other shows, but I think PPG works a bit more as a Toonami show by comparison.
