Toon Zone just reported that the sixth volume of the Looney Tunes Golden Collection will come out on October 21, and apparently it's the final volume.

I think WB has something up their sleeve. Like individual character sets or chronological sets coming out later on. Which, of course means "double dip" time.

I certainly hope they're planning to release more LT/MM after Vol. 6. I'm pretty unhappy about this news, and honestly I don't find the cartoon list too interesting. I'm not a big fan of any of the Bosko and Buddy that I've seen. I understand that for posterity they should have some of their cartoons on a set, but... Ah, whatever.

On a side note, I like the cover art a lot.

Anybody know of any list of which shorts are available on each volume?

Jerry Beck mentioned that there were already plans to release ten volumes in the Golden Collection series...if we want the other four, we'd better start writing letters.

There are some cartoons that's listed I didn't really like, but I'll buy the DVD, just for WB to release more.

According to a GAC post, it looks like this won't be the last LT DVD release ever. It might be the last Golden Collection, but not the last time we'll see the Looney Tunes on DVD, as they've got some stuff planned for 2009. Whew, that's good to hear.

Well that's good to hear. Now, if only WHV would release a MGM collection (sans Tom and Jerry, and Droopy).

Indeed, that is good news. I'm hoping for character-specific releases, as we've gotten a criminally low number of Pepe le Pew and Foghorn Leghorn cartoons on these sets so far. And we still haven't seen hide nor hair of characters like Sniffles and Hippety Hopper. Seems to me like Warner Bros. has the intent of giving these characters their due, but couldn't do it in the current format or something.

Wow! Am I glad the Looney Tunes will still be released. As long as they don't double-dip cartoons, I'm perfectly fine.
The cartoons in this collection look great. I'm not too happy with the Bosko/Buddy disc. But hey, the more, the merrier, as well as the guy with more Looney Tunes!
Can't wait to hear about the other 15 cartoons!
My only complaint is the cover art. I will say that Elmer, Tweety, and Bosko look good, but Bugs, Daffy, and Sylvester look dreadful. Let's hope it's just a preliminary drawing, like we saw in the trailer for Looney Tunes V5.

Jerry mentioned that one of the 15 extra cartoons will be a Sniffles. I'm not a big fan of Sniffles, with the possible exception of "Lost and Foundling".

Well, I have an idea for a future Looney Tunes DVD release. It would contain some of the most controversial cartoons in terms of how people of other races are treated. I call it "Looney Tunes: The Controversial Cartoons Collection".

    Disc 1 - The Censored Eleven + 2
    1. Hittin' the Trail for Hallelujah Land
    2. Sunday Go to Meetin' Time
    3. Clean Pastures
    4. Uncle Tom's Bungalow
    5. Jungle Jitters
    6. The Isle of Pingo Pongo
    7. All This and Rabbit Stew
    8. Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarfs
    9. Tin Pan Alley Cats
    10. Angel Puss
    11. Goldilocks and the Jivin' Bears
    12. Confederate Honey
    13. Any Bonds Today?

Disc 2 - Inki and Bugs
    1. The Little Lion Hunter
    2. Inki and the Lion
    3. Inki and the Minah Bird
    4. Inki at the Circus
    5. Caveman Inki
    6. Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips
    7. Hiawatha's Rabbit Hunt
    8. Fresh Hare
    9. A Feather in His Hare
    10. Which is Witch
    11. Bushy Hare
    12. Horse Hare
    13. What's Cookin' Doc?

Contained are the Censored Eleven, and several of the Bugs Bunny cartoons pulled from the June Bugs marathon in 2001, as well as the Inki series and Confederate Honey. As racist as these cartoons may be, they deserve to be seen again because not showing them is like denying they never existed, which is much worse than actually showing them.

I think a set like that would be better off if it didn't contain the Looney Tunes name or any images of any familiar characters on the box. Just marketing it as a collection of controversial Warner Bros. cartoons would be a safer bet. Most parents will see a DVD with the Looney Tunes logo on it and immediately assume that it's safe for all ages, and it'd probably be best not to inadvertently spark any waves of infuriated soccer moms who didn't think to read the "intended for the adult collector" disclaimer.

In that case I made up a Box Art:

Yeah I know it's crappy, but it's an idea, which WB can expand on.

and no "Fool Coverage" on this one. :(

If ten volumes was the original idea, why stop at six? Poor sales? I'm still not sold on the one dvd of Bosko toons either. This set is sounding more and more like an Xmas request set.

Well, I don't think a DVD of the censored cartoons necessarily needs to have no characters on the front either. Perhaps it could feature a group shot of characters like So White, the Fats Waller cat, Egghead, Inki, and so on - but not Bugs Bunny, so that the average consumer doesn't associate him with the racial tones of these cartoons. I'll see if I can design a cover that might better illustrate what I'm thinking of.

Egghead might be out because he became Elmer Fudd

EDIT: I thought up another DVD set, containing the Daffy/Porky pairings that were not released on the Golden Collection, called "Daffy and Porky: The Dysfunctional Duo"

    Disc 1:
    1. Porky's Duck Hunt
    2. Porky and Daffy
    3. Scalp Trouble
    4. Porky's Last Stand
    5. A Coy Decoy
    6. The Henpecked Duck
    7. Tom Turk and Daffy
    8. Tick Tock Tuckered
    9. Slightly Daffy
    10. Daffy Doodles

    Disc 2:
    1. Riff Raffy Daffy (if you've watched this on AOL the picture seems a little faded, like a pre-48 cartoon, even though this one is post-48)
    2. The Prize Pest
    3. Thumb Fun
    4. Cracked Quack
    5. Fool Coverage
    6. Dime to Retire
    7. Boston Quackie
    8. China Jones
    9. Daffy's Inn Trouble
    10. Corn on the Cop
