Okay, this is getting ridiculous, what's next? Tom and Jerry: Gone with the Wind?

I wonder if they're using the 1971 one or the 2005 one for inspiration.

I would've rather they've just done a version of the story but replaced all of them with other HB characters, or at least a parody of it. I mean that doesn't sound any better but just shoving Tom and Jerry in literature and famous movies where they pretty much take the back seat half the time isn't helping it at all, though to be honest I still thought the last few movies were OK (not bad, but not spectacular).

Next, I think Tom and Jerry should cross over with Breadwinners. Now that would be a great one!

Looks like Tom & Jerry will never get another original adventure at this rate, these DTV cross-overs continue to get worse and worse.

Well the wizard in Tom & Jerry: The Lost Dragon was quite similar to Gandalf at least.

Well give them the credit to still want these 2 around by oddly placing them on other movies.

I think I read online somewhere (forgot which site though) that Tom and Jerry (the characters) on their own cannot sustain a film since they do well in shorts and aren't known for having a lot of depth, which is why they crossover with other characters or are in a movie with a large cast of characters that do have that kind of depth. Still, I like the movies, and look forward to this one.

That all seems true. The characters can't really carry a film on their own.
The DTV movies aren't that bad really, and I'm glad they're doing well enough that they keep making more.
As for crossovers, I still think the Jonny Quest one was weirder (haven't seen it though)

I don't think they gave original adventures for Tom & Jerry DTVs much of a chance, only a few of the early DTVs offered more solo adventures. If the movie length is too long, why not more specials instead?

The Tom & Jerry DTVs have been almost all cross overs, since they returned in 2010. Tom & Jerry even felt like minor characters in The Lost Dragon, rather than the focus.

Well this can only end badly. I mean if they're sticking to the regular Tom and Jerry formula I imagine this will be nothing but them wrecking the factory and Willy Wonka getting angry.

Huh. Interesting. Hadn't thought to myself on T&J not being able to carry out a flick on their own, but it makes sense - it'd just be nothing more than a really extended short, so you'd have to come up with a really good plot to keep the viewer engaged - now if it were a child, say around age 5, they could probably manage without problem - but also you take into account the violence taking place. As light as it can be, but even so slightly dark at times, probably not entirely best for a 5yo - granted kids that age likely watch anyway and many may not think anything of it. I'm sure I was the same way - not having paid much attention much. There are many other [classic] properties with something light that may not be looked at as "oh, my kid's not watching that" kind of material.

Anyways, if we're talking crossovers - wonder if there's been consideration of doing a Tom & Jerry/Scooby-Doo crossover. I can't think to myself a plot, but as much as those characters get involved, WB could probably come up with something. Not necessarily a film either, but a 30m-1 hour TV special.
