Haven't watched a full football game all year? We're not here to judge you, we're here to talk about the commercials with you. So take your bathroom break during the game, this thread is for you.

Last year, the price of a 30 second spot increased from $3 million to $3.5 million, continuing the new trend of higher increases (from 2005 to 2010, we observed here at toonzone that the price seemed to go up by .1 million each year, before a .2 million increase two years ago). This year, CBS's asking price was $3.7 million to $3.8 million (and were more than 90% sold out in September; just two remained in early January).

Most notable big game advertisers will be back (with some car companies bowing out and others stepping back in) and while Coke is back, the polar bears are not. Big time summer movies will make an appearance in the battle of Oz vs. Captain Kirk vs. Lone Ranger in Super Bowl ads.

I'm going to dread that Go Daddy commercial. I've never liked any of their commercials, and the one that's been getting all of the attention in recent days is no exception to that. They've asked me in their commercials to "go online and see what happens next". and not once have I been motivated to do so. I prefer funny commercials, or clever ones. Trying to be sexy or otherwise provocative just doesn't cut it.

I'm actually not that excited for the commercials like I usually am. I'm looking forward to the Iron Man 3 ad I guess, but everything else sounds boring or unfunny.

Same here! It doesn't help that GoDaddy is horrible to begin with. Can't they improve their image for once?

THAT'S the GoDaddy spot? So far, the bar for "worst ad" has been raised pretty high.

Amy Poehler's spot is the first to make me laugh. "What's LTE? Is it contagious?" Those are my sentiments.

Two commercials I thought were good were one with the red m&m dating a woman who is trying to eat him and another one with a guy trying to sell his goat who is eating his Doritos.

Wow, we've reached total Chuck Jones stage with these stunts now.

"Families" seems to be a common ad theme this year.

How many Fast and Furious movies are they going to make? Also the Rav4 genie commercial with Kelly Cuoco was really good.

Meh, not a lot of new footage for Star Trek. Why do I think they'll use Eve's screaming for every trailer?

Iron Man's commercial was pretty short, but you can see more online: http://www.facebook.com/ironman

Not a lot of impressive commercials so far tonight. :(

    Great commericals so far.
The best:D ones were the M&M, Oreo, Kids Football, and Taco Bell.

Best Buy and Oreo were funny and silly, maybe M&Ms too I suppose. The rest......meh. I was so, so spoiled by that MetLife cartoon commercial last year.

Star Trek was fine, though I'd already made up my mind to see it early. I'm a bit deflated at the idea of it being focused on ruin on Earth and not so much another bonafide voyage in space, but then again I suppose this didn't stop me from liking Star Trek IV.

Edit: Pretty sure Dodge won with the feel-good "So God Made A Farmer" commercial. Bet it'll get the attention of some cynics tomorrow, but those people are who put food on our tables.
