Holy crap, Super is doing amazing! Toonami needs to get rid of some shows and start earlier. It can still do good, but there needs to be some tweaks to the programming, and Toonami needs to start earlier if they want better ratings. Not many people don't really stay up late watching TV these days.

    Full ratings.

    Dragon Ball Super 933 0.46
11:30 Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters 842 0.40
    12:00a Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders 638 0.31
    12:30a Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans 545 0.26
    1:00a Hunter X Hunter 527 0.25
    1:30a Lupin the 3rd: Part 4 440 0.21
    2:00a Naruto: Shippuden 438 0.22
    2:30a Outlaw Star 390 0.19
    3:00a Cowboy Bebop (r) 342 0.17
    3:30a Attack on Titan (r) 314 0.15

Attack on Titan came dangerously close to the sub-300 club. Will Toonami keep the back end for long?

After "studying" this schedule and it's ratings, two things need to be done. One; Toonami needs to start earlier. And two; unfortunately to all the fans of JoJo, Gundam, and Lupin, i'm not sure if these shows can stay any longer. They hurt the block the most. Here's my schedule:

    8:00 PM: Dragon Ball Super
8:30 PM: Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters
    9:00 PM: Hunter x Hunter
    9:30 PM: Naruto: Shippuden
    10:00 PM: Outlaw Star
    10:30 PM: Cowboy Bebop
11:00 PM: Ghost in the Shell/Attack on Titan
11:30 PM: Dragon Ball Super (Rerun of 8:00 PM)

Or, if the block can't start that early, then:

8:00 PM: Dragon Ball Super: (Rerun of last week) or DBZ Kai TFC (rerun of last week)
8:30 PM: Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters (Rerun of last week) or DB Super (rerun of last week)
    -
    11:00 PM: Dragon Ball Super
11:30 PM: Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters
    12:00 AM: Hunter x Hunter
    12:30 AM: Naruto: Shippuden
    1:00 AM: Outlaw Star
    1:30 AM: Cowboy Bebop
2:00 AM: Ghost in the Shell/Attack on Titan
2:30 AM: Dragon Ball Super (Rerun of 11:00 PM)

At this point, yes, the problem is JoJo, Gundam, and Lupin.

There was a strong start but a really weak ending for that Saturday.

Demarco claims that JoJo is doing "just fine." They've gone this far without deathslotting it. In fact, the first non-Dragonball show always has a huge drop, it's just that back then it was a drop from 1.4 million to 1.2 million. The split Dragonball Super airings are the bigger culprit for low ratings, as shown by the 8:30 showing kicking the Toonami airing's butt.

Yes, I can understand how the DB Super double airings may hurt the block, and this is why the 8:30 PM EST airing should just be a re-run, not a premiere, and leave the 11:00 PM EST airing for the actual premiere. Or, Toonami needs to start earlier, but there is a very low chance of that happening. Dragon Ball Super is obviously in a league of it's own. DBZ Kai would probably have higher ratings, but Funi released every episode right when Toonami was airing the series, so yeah.

And as for JoJo, even as Demarco claims that JoJo is doing "just fine," it's actually not. Demarco said the same thing about One Piece, and it had to get removed because of low ratings as well as other issues. Whenever JoJo has marathons, they do pretty poor. Even when they air double JoJo's, they both do pretty poor, even with the second episode dropping drastically from the first before it. If they want to keep JoJo, then it would be wise to place it later down in the block, not the beginning.

Gundam has also been doing poorly even when season 1 premiered last year. Gundam just isn't popular in America as it once was. Lupin also suffers the same fate as Gundam. These 2 shows hurt the later shows after them drastically.

:Top 25 ratings time. This time, 8:30 Super only did 737,000. I guess having a Teen Titans movie lead-in really caused abnormally high ratings.

    Kai: 860,000
    JoJo: 696,000
    IBO: 648,000
    Lupin: 541,000

IBO had better retention than normal. Being in the meat of the action probably helped.

The numbers were a lot more consistent than last week.

I'd say to let Lupin finish its run as it only has 8 or 9 episodes left to go (8 if they don't play the OVA), whether or not it gets swapped with a later show. A lil darn shame too cause it doesn't bode well for the possibility of them playing Part 5.

I wouldn't be sure putting older reruns like Outlaw Star or Bebop in the 1am hour would be too good considering they're still virtually reruns. I do like the idea though to scrap the DBS premier at 8:30 or 11pm leadoff as well as a block-ending encore. I also like the idea if a Kai repeat in the 8pm hour whichever time. Strangely enough with GITS 2nd Gig returning the block was up in the latter compared to the prior. Fluctuations seem to happen a lot though. Bound to see numerous bounces of highs and lows throughout the rest of its run should it get it.

Somewhat consistent numbers, but then again there really wasn't much new airing here considering SJ did air a similar marathon months ago.

    Top 25 ratings time.

    Kai: 833,000
    JoJo: 601,000
    IBO: 528,000

Ratings are substantially lower than they were last year, but that's not been mattering to Adult Swim. I guess the rise of cord cutting has forced Adult Swim to lower their standards, thus keeping Toonami safe. Still, cord cutting doesn't quite explain how ratings dramatically decreased after the end of Samurai Jack. I guess it's because American cartoons will always be bigger than anime and Toonami could probably use some more domestic material to get big.

You're right about cord cutting if Toonami ever gets cut is the day I cancel my Sling Sub.

Full ratings. Countdown gave Super a huge boost and Toonami has its first million viewer show since Samurai Jack ended! Because of Daylight Saving Time, we don't know how the reruns did, but who cares.

    11:00 Dragon Ball Super (r) 0.49 1004
    11:30 Dragon Ball Z Kai: TFC 0.40 833
    12:00 JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders 0.31 601
    12:30 Mobile Suit Gundam: IBO 0.28 541
    1:00 Hunter x Hunter 0.27 529
    1:30 Lupin The 3rd Part 4 0.27 475
    2:00 Naruto Shippuden 0.24 475
    2:30 Outlaw Star 0.23 421

Top 25 ratings time. Ratings (at least for super) briefly rise only to fall back down hard during the second week of countdown.
Super: ???? (not eligible for top 25 ratings due to being a rerun)
    Kai: 730,000
    JoJo: 577,000
    IBO: 564,000

Sub 600,000 for the first post Dragonball show has happened a few times, but things usually bounce up to the 600,000s or 700,000s if we're lucky. The good news is that isn't the norm yet. If it becomes the norm, Toonami could be in trouble. The spamming of Kai marathons seems to be putting Reddit in a tizzy filled with doomsayers.

Yep the decline continues, that is a really low number for Jojo.
