Sorry guys, I meant to say that Hunter x Hunter had a huge drop instead of Lupin. Just fixed that.
Sorry for the double quote, but nah, I think that airing Season 1 to 4 would just worsen the ratings as a whole. Even though Sam Jack is popular, airing even older episodes won't work. Remember when Jack returned a few years ago on the block, and remember when it aired for a little bit earlier this year (at 8:30 PM after Dragon Ball Super) in promotion for the upcoming season, yeah, it didn't do well.
What Toonami needs to do is to remove the rerun in front of the block and either replace it with a new show, (it should really be Mob Physco 100, and even though we want My Hero Academia too, I think that Funimation Now still has it's premiere rights or something like that now) or they should move Super up to 11:00 PM.
I'm sorry to go off-topic, but I've been curious, why do you dislike HXH so much? I don't mind that you dislike the series, but I don't think I've seen you explain why you're not a fan.
I just think it's a cruel, gruesome, mean-spirited show. It's just not for me.
Also, I have a sordid history of debating it with HxH fans.
MASSIVE Schedule Change: Toonami is losing the 11:00 pm Slot, and Samurai Jack now airs at 3:30.
That was already covered in the Toonami News and Discussion thread, either way it really doesn't sound like that big a deal for Jack I mean the numbers were bound to have fallen after a while.
Attack on Titan ratings are in:
11:00 Attack on Titan (r) 825 0.38 486
11:30 Attack on Titan (r) 716 0.33 429
12:00a Attack on Titan (r) 664 0.32 406
12:30a Attack on Titan (r) 590 0.26 332
1:00a Attack on Titan (r) 488 0.20 259
1:30a Attack on Titan (r) 457 0.19 242
2:00a Attack on Titan (r) 467 0.20 260
2:30a Attack on Titan (r) 460 0.20 255
3:00a Attack on Titan (r) 465 0.22 279
It didn't start of that great and it kind of fluctuated around 1 to 3.
Kai beat Super again?
Pretty rough numbers.
Low numbers this week, at the very least Lupin was able to outscore Naruto.
The drop between HXH and Lupin was not that steep, nor was HXH's from Tokyo Ghoul. Those are good things, at least.
Kai beat the Super rerun. I'm not sure about the 8:00 airing of Super.
Split airings have really affected Super. A lot of people expected it to be a huge hit on Toonami but the earlier showing takes lots of viewers away. Kai beats super around 45% of the time. That says something.
Did they ever give a reason why it airs new at 8 PM rather than at 11:30?
It's a mandate from Toie because they want kids to watch and buy the toys that are supposedly at Wal Mart (can't find any at my Wal Mart). The expensive $70 SH Figarts I find at cons seem to be the only Super figures I can find. Kids obviously aren't in love with super, so it seems that things need to change.
Poor Toei's been dragged through the dirt in the US since start of the decade. Super's been one of their more successful properties in recent years, which says more about how the other's were treated more than anything, between Digimon's abysmal relationship with Nick, or Saban being Saban.
Top 25 ratings are in. Worst ratings ever.
When the full ratings come out, we'll get a much better picture of what happened.
Full ratings counting the lead-in
11:00 Family Guy (r) 1019
11:30 Dragon Ball Super (r) 855 0.41 522
12:00a Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters 741 0.35 446
12:30a Attack on Titan 659 0.31 392
1:00a Tokyo Ghoul 575 0.26 338
1:30a Hunter X Hunter 555 0.24 312
2:00a Lupin the 3rd: Part 4 523 0.22 283
2:30a Naruto: Shippuden 504 0.20 257
3:00a Ghost in the Shell (r) 442 0.17 221
It's clear that Adult Swim in general is in a state of decline ratings wise. Family Guy used to get 1.7 million once upon a time. There was often a largish drop between comedy and Toonami, and a weak lead-in hurts the block. Hopefully, Adult Swim now lowers its ratings standards and doesn't take the scissors out again like in 2015, although that's been a huge fear for the past year.
I wasn't aware that it was a mandate from Toei. I just assumed that Adult Swim wanted to get new episodes on their lineup first. I don't know how many toys based on Super are available to kids, but I also haven't been in a toy store for quite awhile. While I could understand why Toei wants to appeal to kids with Super if that is the case, it seems a bit odd when most of the fans who would have a more stable source of income are older fans. I'm not sure if it's that important for them to appeal to kids when the teenage/adult fans of the DB franchise probably give them plenty of money as it is. Plus, Toonami airing new episodes of Super would help the block out ratings wise.
