Once again Shippuden manages to look the best. Though Kai is probably good too given what came before it.

    Top 25 ratings are in.

    Samurai Jack: 1,335,000
    Kai: 1,012,000
    JoJo: 783,000
    Tokyo Ghoul: 820,000
    Gundam Unicorn: 576,000

Wow. JoJo went down the toilet, Tokyo Ghoul beat JoJo, and Gundam did terrible. Attack on Titan should be a huge hit and could possibly push Tokyo Ghoul over the million mark. I'm wondering if we'll really see Iron Blooded Orphans season 2 or not. At the very least, IBO got a lot of heat on Toonami forums, but it had far more defenders than Unicorn ever did.

This continues my thought that UC Gundam is just a ratings killer and anything tied to it has zero business on TV. It's too involved a storyline to ever get new viewers and it would be for the best to completely stay away from it period. IBO did moderately better, but it just seems that as a whole the Toonami viewer base is not interested in giant robot shows.

Gurren Lagann was in high demand before it aired. It did, okay. Being a Syfy rerun with a dub that was easily streamable for years did some damage. Of course, Gurren Lagann was way more action-packed and FUN than either Gundam show on nu-Toonami.

I don't remember IBO getting heat here. It started off slow, but got more interesting as it progressed. All things considered, it was received pretty well here. I do hope that we get IBO season two, if only because I'm not interested in watching any other Gundam series besides that after Unicorn.

Adult Swim's boards and 4chan are other stories entirely. This forum seems way nicer than most anime/Toonami forums.

    12:05a Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters 1012 0.49 629
    12:30a JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure 679 0.32 416

Programming insider's JoJo estimate is even sadder. We need Attack on Titan to save the day.

Ah, that makes more sense. I never checked the Adult Swim's forums when it was running and I wouldn't go to 4chan if someone paid me, so I wouldn't be aware of how fans reacted to IBO on those sites.

Jojo really did see it bad compared to the other shows, that really was a big decline after Kai and before Tokyo Ghoul.

    Top 25 ratings time.

    Samurai Jack: 1,297,000
    Kai: 924,000
    JoJo: 829,000
    JoJo: 747,000
    Gundam Unicorn: 555,000

JoJo did all right, but not great. If it comes back, can we expect a death slot? Also, another abysmal Gundam showing.

People left during Sand Whale and Naruto beat Gundam.

    Top 25 ratings are in:
    Samurai Jack: 1,330,000
    Kai: 976,000
    Attack on Titan: 826,000
    Tokyo Ghoul: 712,000
    Gundam Unicorn: 577,000

Attack on Titan CRASHED AND BURNED compared to season 1 (arguably the biggest hit of the Adult Swim era). Can Toonami ever get 1,000,000 at 12:30 ever again?

Does Adult Swim still do off-network promos for Toonami shows?

I think that part of the problem could be that the popularity for Attack on Titan has faded since the first season. It's still popular and there was quite a bit of excitement for the new season, but it doesn't have the same kind of hype factor that the first season did, at least based on what I've seen. Part of that could be because the new season is still early on its run, but it still doesn't feel quite the same to me for some reason. It has been a few years since the first season ended and fans could have either lost interest or just decided to follow the manga instead.

I'm also not sure how much promotion the new season got before it premiered. There was quite a bit of promotion for the show even outside of Toonami if I recall correctly. They also might have been limited to what they could show as far as clips for a promo, especially if they didn't want to use any dub clips before the dub actually premiered.

This Super was the first filer episode of the series, so that may have effected it.

Either way that does hurt to see DBZ Kai also get effected from the lower rating of Super. And of course Titan didn't do as good as I was hoping for but still that is a good number none the less.

My DVR Guide is not listing the AOT episodes as new. It's showing up as old episodes with a general description. If I didn't read anime news online I wouldn't have known the episodes started this week.
