It really does. I love it when I find a bunch of covers that illustrate the full potential of a concept so well. I wish that dopey Ghost Whisperer show had felt more like this. Although that "ghost boyfriend" on some of the covers looks laughably bad.

I bought the first two issues of that at a con recently, along with some other undergrounds like Bizarre Sex, Dopin' Dan and Mickey Rat. Even though the guy made me a good deal they cost a pretty penny.

When I was a kid I remember reading that the lead time on an Archie comic was about four months, so they would be plotting out their Christmas issues in August. So no, if they're just getting to the Occupy movement NOW they're just that out of it.

Also, who drew this cover? Anyone special?

Yes, Jill Thompson, who was really hot in the 90s for her work on Sandman and has since done the neato Scary Godmother. This work looks a lot like the Beasts of Burden series she did recently with Evan Dorkin, it has the same beautiful watercolor effect.

For some reason all the digest covers this month are recycled from older comics and garishly airbrushed....and the picks seem to be random. I remember the original Jughead issue this cover was from. It was from the Daryl Edelman era so it's not really a joke.

When they were having their 70th anniversary, they had a reason to do this....now it's just being cheap.

Is there an explanation for the focus point of this cover? At first glance I thought the mattress was the one webswinging. I thought Marshie from Homestar Runner was on the cover for some reason.

All I can tell you is that nothing remotely like that scene happens anywhere in the story, which is mostly Spidey fighting a new Vulture. It's just a really weird cover.

"Red" is the pettiest person EVER.

In other, non-weird-comics related news, I thought I'd seen the last of it, but it looks like Love and Capes is back, and it's going where no other superhero comic has gone before: parenthood.

They're just getting to this NOW, huh?

"Superman vs. Aliens" wouldn't be much of a fight. His weakness is Krpytonite, not acid. Not even a facehugger could kill him.

    "Hmm, I have curious indigestion."
*BONGGGGG sound of chestbuster trying to break through and killing itself on impact*
"What was that? Ah well, up up and away."

This one's just a curiosity: an alternate edition of the fourth WDC&S comic ever made. Must be worth some crazy money.
