Who remembers the 2 1972-1973 DFE Films produced Saturday Morning Cartoon shows aired on NBC Saturday mornings The Houndcats and The Barkleys? Both can be seen weekends on the PBJ digital subchannel network.

I seen a couple of episodes of them on YouTube. Never knew we had those shows here.

Sent from my SPH-D710BST using toonzone. And I'm a loner at heart.

Both were derivative of CBS prime time shows. Houndcats was a funny animal Mission: Impossible, while Barkleys was meant to be a family comedy, kind of like All In The Family, but without the bigotry. Unfortunately, no one wanted to watch, and both were cancelled. Nice to see that they've been picked up, but Time Warner doesn't have PB&J, so I'm SOL for now.

I recall both shows. They didn't have bad theme songs.

Admittedly these are two I never even heard of.
I kind of like the look and theme of Houndcats a bit of mishmash concepts , I can see some Top Cat(& dogs) dynamic meets Hawaii 50 (similar to later CB Bears) and apparently a show called Bearcats! Which I also never heard of.
As far as period genre, Bearcats to Houndcats feels like it might have been a bit like what TaleSpin .was to Tales of the Gold Monkey, only those two I actually had herd of.

The Houndcats aka "Les chats Cabots" in French was on reruns often here in Quebec on a former cable channel named TVJQ in the 1980s.

Got hooked on it when I was in high school, and suddenly after seeing it again on Pluto.TV's Classic Toons channel and a few eps on other video sites, I'm hooked on it again! Though I enjoyed watching it for the characters and their voices (Dingdog and Stutz were always my favorites), I wish they had done some sort of origin story explaining why and how these five strangers came together.

Back in those days, origin stories didn't matter. A reboot today would require it.
