After Leo had been shot at the end of part 2 what will happen now? We shall see....
"Oh, Splinter, just so you know... I'm the one who tried to assassinate the Damio, and Leonardo, and framed you for it, and everything. Don't tell anyone, 'kay?"
Other than that, a good episode. Great battle scene at the end.
Traximus is back! It sounds like he's gonna stick around for a while, too.
Mike was so annoying in this episode. But he managed to annoy Raph into losing the match, and that was pretty funny.
That rhino character... he's interesting. I wonder if he's gonna be around after the tournament ends?
The final fight sequence (with Don and Usagi) was good. Maybe Raph and Traximus will help 'em before they get to Splinter? We'll see.
I'm glad to see Traximus again. The rest of the episode was good, but his return made it a whole lot better for me.
Yeah, that was lame. I really hope he gets the axe (if you know what I mean) soon. I do wanna see what Draco does next, though.
Okay, I'm calling it right now:
But other than having an obvious ending, I like how this is turning out. And seeing Raph after he lost--shaking that alien and banging his head againt the the wall...was hilarious.
By the way... who's that red dragon-y dude who flashed Splinter (or... dramatically revealed himself, I guess)? I get the feeling I'm supposed to know who he is, but I don't.
Thats Drako, who appeared in the flashback sequence in part 1 (ya FOXBOX, split up a multi-parter so people cant even remember who the main villains are). Splinter beat him, then he tried to attack Splinter and was banned from the tournament.
Another good episode. The only odd pacing bit was that the semi-final match went by way too quickly, compared to how long the other bouts lasted in part 2. I don't really have a problem with the Ultimate Ninja's reveal to Splinter - it's become so much of a convention that I just accept it as something egotistical bad guys do (James Bond, anyone?)
I've watched all the episodes that have aired on CN, but could someone tell me whats going on right now?
How far has CN aired the Turtles? I can tell you you can find detailed info for the new TMNT at www.tvtome.com/NinjaTurtles if we can't answer them for you. Now to today's episode. I was greatly impressed to see how protective Don is of Leo, and those assassins are shocking to say the least, but I don't like how the one guy is planning to take over the Inter World Tournament. It was good to see what's happening with the Triceraton home world since that is key to the next saga on Turtles. I'm thinknig the Don will get dramatically healthy and save Don and Usagi, but we'll have to wait and see next week. What we know for certain is that ALL WILL BE REVALED!!!
Dang it all Fox pre-empted for Baseball today. That really pisses me off.
Pretty good. I admit I forgot who Draco was (it's been a while) but the episode was still good. I like the scenes between Raph and Traximus. Really good stuff. I love how Traximus is gonna help Raph even though he wasn't sure if Splinter was innocent or not. And Don's scenes with Usagi were cute too.
As for Mike getting Raph so mad he loses the match: It was pretty funny. ****.
I also liked how the assassins kept trying to kill the Damio during the fight. Usually villainous goons kinda forget about their main objective and focus on fighting the guys who came to save the guy they want to assassinate, but they were actually sensible here.
You know what I noticed? This is the first time in the show where the four turtles have completely different plots within the same episode. Most of the time they appear as a unit; not so here. Each had their own distinct, yet connected story. I like it.
In honor of the new split, here's a review focusing on each character's story.
Leonardo: Nothing much to say here.
Donatello: I like his admision that his expertise is limited to engineering. I took it as a sign that he won't suddenly know it all. I like his innitial suspicion of Usagi, although his conversion from "suspicious" to "trustful" seemed a little too soon. Still, I didn't expect him to be the one to bond with Usagi.
Michelangelo: Who knew he was that self-counscious. But take note, Mikey: that trick only works on Raph. And work it did. Aside from that, nothing too impressive.
Raph: His defeat at the hands of Mike was the perfect comeuppance for his (Raph's not Mikey's) semi-abusive behavior towards him. I liked seeing him interact with Traximus, though.
Splinter: Mostly an observer here. I hope Raph and Traximus get there soon, because him against Drako and Prince Needs a Name? Is not going to be pretty.
Prince Needs a Name: You have a seriously good plan. I really didn't mind him telling Splinter his plans, since Splinter has no evidence against him, his word counts less the new Damyo's and because I think he's about to be killed. Had the ninjas succeeded in killing the Damyo, Splinters testimony would have meant nothing. In fact, if it takes Splinter off his game, then it's actually a good thing.
Gen: Gamble on, Gen, gamble on. I'm betting on ya.
I also liked the fill-in about where Traximus was interesting, and sounds like it will lead directly to
once this is over.
I was really surprised at the fight scene at the end of the episode where Donatello and Usagi faced off against the assassins. It brought Donatello into Leo's subplot (sort of) in a timely fashion. I'm sure Leo will repay the favor next week. The fight scene was executed nicely with alot of great shots and scenes. I'm still not entirely sold on Usagi but he's been a nice addition to the series so far. While I'm not a big fan of "Turtles In Space" stories, this one is quite pleasing.
A little predictable, but still good. Enjoyd the fight with those grey ningas and I'm liking more this Usagi chararcter and hope he appears more in the season.
CN still needs about half of Season 2, which it'll probably air next year.
An awesome episode today, I liked Don & Usagi fighting with each other's weapons, that was pretty neat.
Of course, the Raph/Mikey battle kicked ass, and I can't wait to see how Mikey goes through the rest of the tournament.
I want somebody to kick the Prince's ass so badly now...
Things are getting good.
Deep Thoughts: 9/25 Sat
1. I was wondering how come nobody saw the dart on Leo's neck. At least they explained it (dissolving dart).
2. Michelangelo was such a braggart for someone who only got to the quarterfinals without fighting due to Splinter surrendering.
3. Whoa! It seems Mikey is smarter than he looks! It's all just an act to get an opponent off-balance... like drunken master!
4. Heheh, Raphael was so upset, he knocked out that guy's head on the wall.
5. Eh, Drako was too obvious.
6. Hmmm... who would win: the assassins or the Foot Clan?
7. Doesn't Donatello know that true assassins would rather take suicide poison than talk? Might as well knock 'em out first, then make sure they can't kill themselves, before waking them up and asking questions.
8. The official tournament fights were too short, but the other fights made up for it. But overall, it's the political machinations that carry this ep.
I had the same thought Crash did on the end of Tourney...but it's okay if the end of Battle Nexus is obvious because it's a subplot to the Ultimate Ninja's evil plot.
Raph, my favorite Turtle, continues to get no love from this series. Poor bastich gets his butt kicked by the second most useless fighter (#1 being Casey, who really would be the Kuwabara of this series.)
How the hell did Draco fit in that robe. it was comedic how horrible it looked when he made the big reveal, and was suddenly completley different in proportion when the robe came off. Bad animators, bad!
