I thought that this episode was pretty good. It's pretty rare to see Ash's Mom outside of the beginning and end of a series, so having her come back for the Open House was nice. Her nicknames for Ash's Pokemon were so cute, especially Litten's. It seemed a bit uncomfortable with liking the attention so much, but it was with Delia for most of the episode.

It was nice to see them treating the Pokemon School more like an actual school with parents and friends showing up for the day. Ash being so nervous about giving the presentation was understandable. He's never been particularly good with giving out facts like that in front of people. Although, it also felt a bit weird that the school was getting more attention than usual. Despite being one of the main reasons Ash wanted to stay in Alola, the school is basically just a backdrop for the setting and an excuse for Ash to be in the region.

It was a bit surprising that Rotom Dex was so fine with helping Ash to cheat his way through the presentation. It was enjoying being able to provide all that information, but it was still pretty much cheating and it didn't even regret that decision afterwards. I thought it was pretty funny how Ash's friends thought it was strange when Ash could understand so much about the region, even though I don't think regional forms are really complicated. Professor Kukui could have been a bit more upset with Ash for cheating, but he's a pretty laid back teacher and just wanted Ash to speak for himself. Ash talking about his adventures and his feelings was much more fitting for his character. He isn't the smartest kid on the block, but he's honest with his feelings and that sincerity was appealing to everyone there. It was nice that Ash's friends were all supportive for him afterwards.

It was pretty cool to see Delia take on Team Skull, even though she probably didn't know any of Litten's attacks besides Scratch. Those three Team Skull members always seem to be taken down by a Z-Move, but at least Delia could see more as to what Ash has been doing in Alola. Talking about bringing Litten along was a bit strange, but it was just for a moment and she'll be able to see it whenever Ash leaves his Alola Pokemon at Professor Oak's place anyway. She did seem pretty happy to see Ash doing so well in Alola. Overall, it was a pretty good episode. It was nice to see Delia for another episode and Ash's sincere speech was really sweet.
