All righty, here it is...what did you think of the new character Shebang? Post your comments on this episode here. I thought that the episode was pretty good...and I wouldn't mind seeing that girl return...but hopefully we'll get some more solo episodes with Static. (Well not quite solo I guess, but with Gear) Because there's been a lot of Superhero guest stars so hopefully that'll slow down a bit...I thought it was strange too, that Hotstreak was burning a theater just because he hated the movie...that was weird. All in all, it gets 3 1/2 stars from me. But then again Shebang was pretty cool, so I think I'll give it 4.

This episode was okay. It wasn't bad,but it wasn't great either. I liked how Shebang wan't a bang baby, but just a genetically enginnered person. Overall 3 1/2 stars.

So what is next weeks episode about???

I heard shebang wasn't a bang-baby, but she still had abilities. Why? How did she have those abilities if she wasn't a bang-baby?

As mentioned before, she was genetically engineered.

The past two episodes have had guest stars. I wish we could get a Static and Gear by themselves episode. Over all, I didn't think it was that good. It wasn't that bad but just nothing special. A solid 3 stars.

Well, we did see Static and Gear by themselves in the episode entitled Gear.

I think that they will be by themselves in next weeks episode.

I'll give this episode 4 stars. A very cool ep today i just wish the fighting scene were a little longer. I love She-bang she is going to be a excellent addition to the Static team. I can't wait to see her again. i think she appears on two more episodes, also i'm glad her personality wasn't annoying and overbearing. She kinda sassy and sweet.{ Ha! it seem Gear has a little crush on her ;)} Is it me or Hotstreak is really nuts :D :D he blow up the theater because he hated movie :p this guy must really has some issues. overall i like everything to the animation, story, background and the cast were excellant!! I hope next season were'll team of Static, Gear, She-bang, Rubberband man, Nails against the combine gangs of Ruff pack and The meta breed {with aquamaria} in all out slug fest.

    Three Stars

    Meh...pretty much a disappointment.

The hype of this season is that it's supposed to be darker, more grounded, perhaps Batmanish. So far, the upbeat tone is keeping me from giving an ep its full five stars. It's just not interesting if everybody's happy all the time.

This one got the lowest rating yet because it had so much potential. A misfit in a city of misfits, a moral question when it comes to genetic engineering, a serious love interest for Virgil or Richie...

All wasted in favor of kiddy image. *sigh* :(

Shebang herself isn't all that special. She's just a super-acrobat with a costume that gives her spunk. Her voice also got on my nerves a bit. The actor sounded like she was twelve.

Her backstory was interesting and the best pieces were when Shebang copes with being unable to lead a normal OR abnormal life. More scenes like the conversation with her parents would have made this episode for me.

To sum it all up, I wanted Shebang to be more of a brooding, thoughtful, deep character. But she's just coming off like an obligatory female hero. That's a big shame.

I hope her next apperance does her justice.

I thought this was the best episode of the season ive seen so far (i havent seen "Static in Africa"). I liked She-bangs character, and Static came off very mature and had a Batman-esque "all is not what it seems" feel to him throughout most of the episode. I loved the scenes with Static fighting the bad guys, and i thought they came off really good and wouldnt mind seeing them again. Easy 4*'s from me.

I disagree with you Vortex on a few things. Firstly there is nothing wrong with a up beat tone thats what Static shock is about. This is Static show it will never be dark as batman and nor it should be. And on She-bang her personality is perfect the way it is Sassy and spunky. She doesn't need to be dark and broody to be cool!!As for her powers perfect dexterity and enchanced strength are pretty cool IMHO.

I agree with you 100%. Static was never a dark, angsty hero in either his comic or his animated incarnation. He's a kid who gained his powers that enabled him to make a difference in his community. There's nothing wrong with a hero with a sense of wonder. There's nothing wrong with that in my eyes.

This season is shaping up to be Static Shock's best season yet. I enjoyed Shebang and liked how they took a major moral issue that is tied into the real world and turned it into a compelling half-hour. Shebang's personality makes sense. In a lot of ways she just want to cut loose and her "Shebang" identity allows her to do that. After spending so much time holding herself back, the show-offy personality of her costumed identity makes sense.

The episode also makes you think about the morality of cloning and the question of whether or not "clones are human beings" in a way that is often ignored in most political discourses on the topic. Too often the subject of "what is a life" is obscured in sloganeering and in a manner that disrespects the concept of "life." Sometimes I wonder if these politicians even know what "life" is? Shebang tackles those questions head-on without preaching a "political position." That's something that is not done alone in so-called programs aimed at "adults," let alone in so-called "children's programming." In fact, this episode reminds me a lot of the Superman episode, "The Late Mister Kent," another mature look at a subject that could easily get bogged down in demagoguery.

I'm really enjoying this season of Static Shock as a whole.

I'd give this ep a solid 3. The pacing felt disjointed, though, such as when the scenes changed they really didn't register until the very end. And Static shouldn't make a habit about getting knocked out like he has in every episode.

Perhaps I should rephrase my statements.

The fact that the entire season hasn't been serious and dark hasn't kept me from giving episodes five stars. I realize that this is a show targeted at an audience that wouldn't necessarily appreciate that. But I still see ways that it can be more in-depth, especially in a show that deals with genetic engineering and an outcast superhero (unlike Virgil who has support from Richie).

And it doesn't have to come off as a political statemnt or biased moral-pounding. I'm much more interested in Shebang's character than her stand on cloning. There were many angles in which we could have seen a closer look into her personallity, but I felt these were pushed aside in favor of cool acrobatics to match the upbeat soundtrack.

All of this is just my opinion, you know. I still think the series as a whole is one of Kid's WB's finer works.

Agreed. This series is one of the few reasons why I watch the network (very few) and this series always pleases. This episode wa sno exception as we were introduced to a fine new character. I like to see the Static universe growing a bit, adding a new character. I'm interested to see how the creators will work her into future episodes.

Au contraire! If anyone has a crush on her, it's Static. Typical teenage reaction formation; they can't admit they like each other so they give the attitude instead. It's cute. Gear might like her, but he seems well-balanced about it, and I don't think she's his type. OTOH, I'd be quite happy with a little interracial romance between young characters...just not sure the networks would be.

If they would have a problem with that then they could kiss my big fat bottom! I sure hope that the human race has advanced passed such a thing!

Nah, Static seem to be interested in Daisy or Frieda these days. Remember Gear keep on insisting that she should join there team. And Gear reaction at the end when She-bang kiss him on the cheek was classic teenage crush. :D :D but I do see your point about Static though! Also i don't think network has a problem interracial couples Batman Beyond had two i believe Terry and Dana, Babs and that black dude....

Hmm...Dana looked so caucasian I didn't even give it another thought. I do remember about Babs and the DA, though...I dunno, networks are funny sometimes; younger characters might get different rules. I can't imagine that in this day and age it would be explicitly forbidden ('cause they'd get sued or something) but politics can be interesting. I was probably too pessimist though.
