    Somber words, Luke.

Indeed, Rogue One and I've read the two animated series have already introduced and explored the other followers of the Force. The Jedi and The Sith were just the first to be introduced. And they seem to be going in the direction of Rey being the true Chosen One that will restore the balance - and it was never Anakin or Luke.

Long live the princess. I assume that Leia is going to die at the end of this film, since her actress is dead.

From what I saw in the trailer, I think it was Luke who said that it is time for the Jedi to end.

They've already said they're going to use outtake and cut footage to have Leia appear in IX.

The trailer was cool, but not enough in there to really form an opinion. It's so unbelievably good to see Luke Skywalker again, and to see Mark Hamill in a major movie. He certainly deserves it. I love the poster, it may be one of my favourite Star Wars posters. Over all, it's looking pretty good so far.

That does seem to be the prevailing theory, though I wonder how much Disney really wants to revisit a plot thread of the Prequels (the whole "Who is the Chosen One?" thing).

And this whole "Jedi's are just one sect of Force believers" thing is a little unsettling. You get multiple sects of Force believers portrayed, with arguing and fighting over who has the TRUE faith, and soon it'll start feeling a bit too much like the problems we are having here in our own galaxy.

In the original trilogy, the Jedi worshiped Order and the Sith worshiped Power, and it feels like that needs to continue to be the main focus, even if they stop calling them "Jedis" and "Sith"...

I don't think they're going to outright directly reference the Chosen One thing but fans see it already and SW fans are pretty good at filling in the gaps.

Well it's different from the Empire being Nazis. I don't think it's going to be an argument about who's better. If anything, the Jedi and the Sith have been the biggest and only problem among the Force Sensitives. But I think Luke realized the Jedi has to cease to be as it allows for the continuance of the Sith -- and an unending cycle of pain and violence. Ben Solo's betrayal seems to have hit him hard and made him rethink everything which is why he sought out that ancient Jedi planet or whatever it is.

Still, it's a question of how many Force groups are still alive in this third trilogy's era.

This planet must be similar to Degobah IMHO.

Figuratively, yeah. But thankfully not a swamp. I think the name sounds like achoo.

Yeah, but it may be somewhat Force sensitivity like the cave on Degobah. And what of that tree with the books?

4/15: Oh, yes. I got you now. Sorry, I misunderstood the first time.

Heh, it made me think of Yggdrasil. But yeah, I think that's in the first Jedi temple since that page she touches has a symbol of the Jedi Order on it. That 6 pointed star with the line going through is a dead giveaway. But wasn't there the origin myth in TFA about the tree, the Jedi, and the Sith?

4/20: Isaacs told an anecdote about doing 25 takes of a scene with Fisher on Day 1. Seems Poe and Leia are at odds about something.

5/1: Rumor going that Snoke and Leia meet.

5/18: Next rumor is Luke goes after Snoke while Rey goes after Kylo.

5/23: Captain Phasma unmasked on the cover of a Vanity Fair.

5/25: "Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo". Huh. Going to have to look at the chain of command again.

Interesting to read Poe is taking on a protege to so speak.

The title "The Last Jedi" has more than one meaning but Johnson and Kennedy still remain mum.

Movie won't delve into Snoke much... so I guess the reveal about him will be in IX.

5/29: Johnson revealed he was able to create and tell the story that he wanted to, unencumbered by plans for the future of the franchise. At the time there was nothing mapped out beyond TFA.

6/2: Info on the casino planet Canto Bight

Finn and Rose will met Benecio Del Toro’s character DJ there.

Johnson and Hidalgo likened it to an upscale answer to the Mos Eisley cantina. Johnson called it "a playground, basically, for rich a-holes."

"...Some people who have managed to carve out a life for themselves where they can live apart from the galactic struggle. They found a way to live above it or beyond it. There’s a class of wealthy that have helped build all sorts of loopholes in society that will always ensure that they’ll survive or even thrive no matter what else is happening out there.”

6/22: Post production is set to end in August.

7/15: Character posters released. Oddly, they're all in red clothing.

    And the D23 footage

7/27: First looks. A good image of Snoke.

8/9: Rey and Luke on cover of EW. New stills included. Luke described as "a man overpowered by regret, eager to close the book on his past while living out the rest of his days on an isolated island." Luke thought Kylo was the chosen one and invested all he had in him only to be betrayed and there's guilt for not detecting darkness in him until it was too late.

On Anch-to there will be a species of animals called Porgs and a Force-sensitive alien race called the Caretakers. The latter are like nuns and don't take well to Luke living on the island.

Also a first look at Snoke's Praetorian Guard, described as a 'menacing force' and 'like samurai'.

Snoke's goals and motivations will come into focus but don't expect a lot of his back story to be revealed. He will appear a lot more on screen than he did in TFA.

8/10: Johnson teases Holdo's role. Isaac tells another anecdote of Carrie Fisher on the set. Johnson promises an emotional reaction to something Leia does. The Resistance starts off the movie as isolated and vulnerable.

    8/21: Promo images released.

9/1: First look at the Supremacy, Snoke's Mega-Class Star Destroyer.

For Star Wars it's possible they'll keep it. Heck they added screenings for TFA. Both Avengers films were around 140 something.

They've been so quiet on this film (in terms of actual footage shown) that I'm expecting to be pleasantly surprised. I do get the feeling this film will divide some fans when it actually drops, though.

That would not be surprising, as Star Wars films do tend to do that (with my big example being Rogue One).
