I heard this is just a copyrighted thing. Otherwise, I'm not sure how I feel. After The Force Awakens, do we need another title with the word Force in it? That being said, Forces with the S might make it different enough. I just hope Episode IX doesn't have Force in the title. Also, Forces of Destiny would be interesting since it seems to imply the future of certain characters will be revealed here such as Rey possibly becoming a Jedi.

...yeah, not diggin' that title. It sounds like a corny romance novel.

Any word on when the teaser trailer for Episode VIII will premiere? I would've thought we'd have it released by now.

If they're not going to release a trailer in January, I want a trailer by the time "Logan" premieres in theaters March 3rd. Or maybe in time for "Kong: Skull Island" on March 10th. But for goodness sakes, don't make us wait till May.

I seem to recall someone saying that Disney wouldn't release a teaser for VIII until after Rogue One was basically done; they didn't want the hype for VIII to eclipse RO. I'd expect it around April or May (sorry!). IMO, the teaser would fit perfectly with GotG 2.

Did some research just now, found this article. It confirms they wanted to give "Rogue One" some breathing room, but Kathleen Kennedy says to expect the trailer in "The Spring".

March is in the Spring...well, part of it, anyway. April or May is more likely.

That article points out the first full trailer for "The Force Awakens" (not the teaser trailer from November 2014) was released during "Star Wars Celebration" in April 2015. I do think it's likely they could release the trailer during Star Wars Celebration this year, between April 13th-16th.

....Anyway, I guess they need to settle on a name for "Episode VIII" before releasing the trailer...

They're not going to be trolls and wait until May 4th? ;)

Realistically, though, I wouldn't be surprised if this one takes a little more time, given the unfortunate circumstances. Even though 8 is basically done, who knows how ingrained Leia was in 9 and what they plan to do.

That article says they're discussing the option of just cutting Leia's scenes from Episode VIII. Huge mistake, we need to see Princess Leia one last time. Now if they want to edit her out of Episode IX, I guess that'd be fine, given the circumstances (though that article says she was going to have an increased presence in Episode IX). If the plot for Episode IX did involved more screen time for Leia the character, I might be fine with recasting the part for Episode IX...but we need to see Carrie Fisher one last time in the upcoming Episode VIII.

Didn't they claim she finished shooting her scenes. I mean this has been about a year since filming began. They honestly at least have a plan, but life happens. I would be content with us being told Leia was killed on a starship or something and having a royal funeral. Possibly faceless since perhaps her death didn't leave a body.

They didn't cut Heath Ledger out after he died, nor did they cut Anton Yelchin, so I think it would be disrespectful to do so here. Let Leia have one last adventure.

Hmm, that link didn't provide a reference (EDIT: I didn't look closely to see that's the official Star Wars website), so at first I thought it was some fan website just making up a name and trying to falsely report it.

But it does appear official (it appears Disney did a press release).

So let's start mulling over the name. Who is the Last Jedi? Rey? Luke? Someone else?

Also, as I think it over, the name comes across as a stark contrast to the title of Episode VI: "Return of the Jedi". Remember when Luke was going to launch a new Jedi academy and Jedi were going to repopulate the galaxy? Well...this kind of dashes all the hopes expressed with the end of "Return of the Jedi".

Overall, I think what it signals is that we're moving beyond traditional conflicts between "Sith" and "Jedi".

I'm fine with this title. Thank god they didn't use "Forces of Destiny." :p

I also like how the title is red. Maybe it's foreshadowing some darkness?

I wouldn't be shocked if the film went to some dark places; Rogue One proved that audiences will still flock to a grimmer Star Wars flick.

Yeah, the blood red Star Wars logo actually works really well. It's an interesting change.
