Don't count on Free Spirit getting THIS topical very often. It's getting to the point where Trump isn't really funny anymore and he's becoming downright scary instead. I remember it took about three years for George W. Bush to stop being funny as people realized he wasn't learning from any of his mistakes and was going to just keep making them. Trump's gone from funny to scary already and the primaries haven't even ended.

Yet mock we must, for it takes their power away. During World War II the Looney Tunes constantly made fun of Hitler and the Nazis; his cruelty was well-known, but that's why it was important to bash him around as long as we had the free speech to do so. If hair jokes don't work anymore, we need to find something else. We must pick on Trump as long as he is a threat, to show we're not so afraid of him that we can't fight back (and because he would do the same unto us).

Minor update note: if you flip back to the beginning, the year on the first page has been changed from "2014" to "Present Day."

Donald Trump is impossible to truly make fun of. He has no shame and his supporters don't care about what other people have to say. We used have lots of institutions that would check people like him from moving beyond state or local politics, but the internet has hollowed them out. Even if he doesn't win, do you think we're going to have fewer insane, ultra radical/reactionary candidates in the future? Oh no, Trump is merely a sign of things to come...

That's another thing that scares me -- now that Trump's approach has been proven to work, we could get at least five guys like him next election cycle.

We'll have President Camacho or his horrible tumblr-equivalent soon enough.
