Well, er, there we go.
I'm glad to see the movie's still coming.
I agree, it does look cute. I love the unhappy expressions on that frog.
...But I think I hate that firefly.
Haha, cool. She seems to be more of the sassy Mulan/Meg/Esmerelda/Jane variety than the other somewhat...blander Disney heroines.
Alright, after Meet the Robinsons and the disappointing Bolt trailer I've been rather upset with Lasseteer's Disney. However this made me laugh and smile a lot. With all of the PC changes and the removal of Menken/Schwartz for Newman I was really nervous about this movie. I am now really looking forward to it. Hope that Rapunzel turns out just as well.
I do like the Princess - she seems to have at least some personality - but yeah, that firefly creeps me out. Hopefully he comes across better in the movie.
I'm looking forward to this.
It's good to see great 2D animation again.
The firefly was my favourite character!
Oh ho - looks like it's goin' ta take some time! Eh ha ha!
Very nice. I'm glad that they gave the princess some personality.
Wow, this looks really good. I think the New Orleans style setting will really liven up this movie. While I hold no grudge against CGI movies, maybe The Princess & The Frog will increase the number of traditionally animated movie. That is, if this movie does well for Disney.
Wow, it looks beautiful! The teaser is especially entertaining with the facial expressions made.
I'm going to enjoy seeing this one when it comes out.
Looks awesome,Great to see that Disney is going back to 2D
Maybe it's just because it's traditional animation but everything... the animation, designs, colors, etc.... look SO MUCH MORE appealing to me then this year's offering from Disney: Bolt. Bolt looks pretty "bleh" design wise and I think I'm looking forward to Princess a lot more if not just for the visual aspect. Too bad we have to wait another year for it
Is that Dr. John singing the song in the trailer? If it is, then this movie is already way ahead of the game as far as I'm concerned. Even if it isn't, it's someone really getting in touch with his inner Dr. John and that's almost as good.
And I have to admit that I kind of like the firefly. I absolutely love the facial expressions and the body language in the animation for the Princess and the Frog, too.
It's also worth pointing out that this is more like a Pixar trailer than a Disney trailer, since it's custom-made footage that isn't going to be in the movie and just gives a flavor of what's coming (although the first The Incredibles trailer didn't manage to capture the phenomenal awesome of that movie at all). The fact that they went through the trouble indicates to me that Disney's betting a lot on this movie. So far, it looks like their faith is justified.
This looks very promising to me. It felt good to see some 2D animation.
Is no one else shocked that they chose an actual veteran VA to voice the firefly? I was sure they'd get some new comedian to voice him or whatever. Cummings usually has like one or two lines in these types of flicks as a bit character.
it looks cute! I'm pretty excited for this
Quote fits opinion.
I'll probably see it when it comes out on DVD or something, but I'm more interested in Bolt.
I'm a little vexed that the movie stars a princess again, but at least the New Orleans backdrop should make for some originality there. Hopefully we'll get plenty of Cajun slang.
The teaser was cute, with the princess desperately not wanting to kiss the frog square on the lips. Not much more to say about it, though.
At any rate, it's just good to see traditional 2D coming to theaters again.
It's very cute. Anika Noni Rose sound sooo adorable without overdoing the Southern accent.
I do have some questions though:
What all happened to the storyline? I thought the girl (can't remember her name) was supposed to be the frog . Wasn't she also supposed to be a servant?
I would've loved hearing more of the music. Still reeling from Alan Menken (loved the work he's done for Disney) not being involved.
I really wish they would've kept the original design. The one with the leaf-like green dress. It seem to fit better with the theme, imo.
This is another concept piece:
