Update: I checked the listings on Screener and it does look like Kids Thirteen will be where the new channel will be in your area. It looks like it will be the same with the channel in my area, which my provider apparently didn't drop. It appears it was just the SD feed. I guess not every state had their own version. Apparently, after the last PBS Kids channel was shut down in favor of Sprout, some stations programmed their own kids channel, such as Kids Thirteen in your area and GBH Kids in mine.

Thanks for the update. Well, I can't wait to see if PBS KIDS channel rebrand is better than Boomerang 2016.

Ugh. I just found out recently that PBS Kids won't probably launch in my area on January 16th. I heard WHYY (my local PBS station) has enough bandwidth for the network, but hasn't announced it yet for some reason. This could be a long wait. It'll be a shame, because I really wanted to see Fetch! and Clifford.

Can anybody find out if it'll air on the WXXI feed?

    Has UNC-TV announced anything yet?
EDIT: It appears that the channel is replacing their kids channel on the same day. Crap, I have U-verse!

I don't know where to look to see if the affiliates announced anything, but it looks like UNC-TV is one of the stations that's programmed there own kids channel and the new channel will be there. I'm sorry @SparkleMan, but I'm unable to help you with this.

Eh, it's okay. I'll have to wait until I get TWC-Spectrum again...

    (DOUBLE POST ALERT)
To those concerned about the cable/satellite providers carrying the PBS Kids Channel, this is all I know so far (courtesy of TPT):
    • COMCAST: Channel 204 in Minneapolis, Channel 240 in Saint Paul
    • MEDIACOM: Channel 101
    • MIDCO: Channel 599
    • MIDCO (Fairmont/Sherburn): Channel 597

But no cable/satellite providers are carrying the channel nationally like the other kids channels like Disney etc?

We'll just have to see in the near future. I predict TWC-Spectrum and AT&T U-verse are next.

The PBS Kids channel launched early today, at least here in Alabama. The channel pretty much has the same shows and features like on the main PBS channel. The PBS Kids bug is on the left side of the screen, and the local station is able to insert their own ads in between the shows.

So basically, it's like the old PBS Kids Channel.

It launched there already? But I checked the listings on Screener for your town and didn't see it. I did find a channel that airs regular PBS shows and will be where the PBS Kids channel will be. Is that what you're talking about? It seems to me more like they decided to put something on the channel space now and the PBS Kids channel will launch on Monday with the rest of the country.

Well the Screener has not updated yet. Heck, even the main Alabama Public TV website still says it will launch on Monday. .2 was World Channel but it got moved to .4 for PBS Kids. Maybe APT got chosen by the PBS Network to launch the channel early to test for bugs or whatever.

It is following the same schedule posted at the beginning of the forum. 1:30 central was Sesame Street. Here's a pic.

Well then, that's unexpected. I wonder if this happened anywhere else.

Looks like it. You still get the sponsors at the beginning and end of each program. But, the promos for PBS Kids shows are just for the 24/7 channel, like Wild Kratts at 7 pm / 6 Central and so on. APT is inserting their own ads in between the shows, I guess all PBS stations will be doing the same.

Must have been an error. What time did the channel launched today?

Before today, the channel was just showing a still screen saying PBS Kids would premiere on Monday, January 16th. I got up at 8 am, and was flipping channels when I saw the channel airing Peg + Cat. I'm assuming the channel launched at 6 am this morning? I guess it doesn't matter too much since it will officially premiere on Monday.
