But it's SpongeBob...it usually has no problem reaching 3 or even 4 million viewers
That wasn't a good day for Spongebob, though Alvinnn and Bunsen did well around their average.
What I do like is how close all the Nick shows rate - SBSP, AatC, TLH, TTM, HD, and NRDD all average around the same amount. Bodes well for diversity on the weekday lineup (or at least compared to previous years). And with SBSP not being so out-of-this-world in the ratings, it validates equal opportunity.
I still remember when the Nick schedule consisted of SBSP, FOP and Drake and Josh. Yikes!
That was before ratings on all of TV started to fall. Nowadays, 2 million is actually pretty good.
Why the heck did Nickelodeon put Sponge Bob on SATURDAYS!? Week afternoons is where its at!
It was new on Saturdays in March and it did better than this. I'm not sure what happened this weekend.
I don't know if this is the cause or not, but I noticed Regal Academy was airing on a Saturday at 8AM, which was not a new episode. I know in all history Regal Academy has had new episodes before that scored very low ratings when placed at 7AM from Jan to late March. Then new episodes moved to 8AM on April and finished those. Kuu Kuu Harajuku before movin to NickJr had been at 8AM slot.
I might be wrong but if it wasan't for Regal Academy airing at 8AM, SpongeBob numbers could have been higher. Not sure why Nick placed Regal Academy in the schedule where they know ratings did bad there.
I think SpongeBob fell cause people didn't know there were a new episode (I didn't really see too many people live tweeting it). Also, this episode aired international before.
I just think that Saturday could have been a bad day, knowing that Toonami programs didn't pull in good numbers either, I think another Saturday could see a different result.
There are MANY factors & variables that could have contributed to SpongeBob not doing well
Maybe kids were watching Teen Titans Go on CN instead
CMT Music Awards 2017
CMT: 1,034,000 (0.32)
Nickelodeon: 729,000 (0.16)
Nick at Nite: 683,000 (0.20)
Spike: 529,000 (0.18)
TV Land: 510,000 (0.08)
Here are last Thursday's ratings from Jun 1:
Since Parent Trap aired at 8PM-11PM movie on Nick at Nite scored 1.352 (0.35)
By the comments on showbuzzdaily, it's on bottom top 150
11PM Nashville scored 0.594 (0.20), very big drop from lead-in Parent Trap.
In my opinion if Nick at Nite doesn't even care about ratings, why is Full House still occasionally on primetime? Why not make any changes? Other than movies
Obviously Nick wouldn't have done as well as CMT when airing that event.
Jun 8 ratings:
Nashville on Nick at Nite - 0.405 (0.13)
Lead-in seems to do ok, though Full House numbers keeps slipping.
Ice Age - 1.136 (0.27)
Full House - 0.741 (0.21)
Nella the Princess Knight: 1,159,000 (0.27)
Kuu Kuu Harajuku: 487,000 (0.12)
SpongeBob SquarePants: 1,657,000 (0.44)
ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks: 1,398,000 (0.35)
Bunsen Is a Beast!: 1,089,000 (0.27)
The Thundermans: 1,287,000 (0.25)
Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn: 1,265,000 (0.24)
Now looking at last Saturday's ratings: it seems to be going down than Sat Jun 3 ratiings. But I wonder why new SpongeBob got high adult demo but low total viewers in 1.6? And live action numbers are slowly slipping like Game Shakers ratings level.. New Bunsen has hit a series low, which is not surprising.
What the heck is going on with the ratings?
I guess summer is hitting hard this year. Though I honestly think The Thundermans has just gotten stale to many.
"Out'ch" for Bunsen...
(One of the episodes premiered that day was "Hug It Out'ch". I figured I could make a pun.)
Summer will continue to be a hard sell as kids viewing habits change. I'm not surprised. I am interested to see how TLH does weekdays. If it remains at its usual 1.7-19M, it'll just continue to prove Nick needs to re-evalate it's premiere days/times.
Saturdays is a deadzone for broadcast and MOST cable networks. Nick needs to adjust.
