I do hope it's an alternate universe take where Naruto and his parents wind up on some sort of mission together. That would be pretty interesting to see. And really what we should see otherwise the poster makes it look like either false advertising or this being a flashback movie featuring Naruto and stories about his parents and really we already know the major ones so we don't need to see the others.

    Trailer is out!

Looks like this will be a alternate universe where Naruto's parents survived the Nine Tail Fox's rampage. I'm curious if this movie will be Kishimoto's way of showing us what would happen if Tobi's moon plan succeeds. Either way, I can't remember the last time I've been so excited for a Naruto movie :).

The rest of the Akatsuki have been indirectly confirmed it seems with Kakuzu, Hidan, and Itachi being shown very quickly.

Im going to take a wild guess and say Kushina gets kidnapped(due to the nine tails still being inside of her) and Naruto goes off to save to her. I guess we can easily expect Killer Bee(being the 8 tails) and a lot of other characters to show up in all of this as well.

I was assuming Naruto's parents were appearing via flashback, but that alternate universe take would actually be really cool so I'll expect & hope for that instead. ;)

If it's a 10th anniversary celebration as they say it is, I see the logic in including loads & loads of characters & having some fun as opposed to just doing what the manga did & a prettier version of what the TV series is going to do.

This seems like it could be on a different level compared to most of the other movies. I'd get this on a Blu-Ray if/when Viz grabs it.

I'm not usually a fan of AU tales, but this looks cool. Plus, FINALLY a Naruto film that uses real villains from the manga, as opposed to lame one-shot enemies. This could be cool, if handled right.

What if the movie is Kishimoto's way of wrapping up the war? The manga gets to a certain point and then BAM! You got to see the movie to see the end of it.

That's going to be swift, hard kick in the balls for us foreign fans.

Does anyone know if this movie will be in theaters in America? Or will it just come straight to DVD? I what to see it, and I would like to see it in theaters, but it does theres not many people I can think to ask if they would like to see it with me.

Not going to happen. It's pretty clear that this is an alternate reality movie and forcing comic readers to go see a movie to finish the story is story suicide.

Any time between 2015 and 2017.

The dub is only on the second film, and this is the sixth. Even if they release one a year from this point on (but remember, it took two years between the first and second), that'd still take until 2015.

Promo materials look good. I'm really intrigued and psyched for this especially since Kishimoto is more actively involved with this production. The brief clips it was hard to really gauge where they are going. That would be neat to see Naruto teaming up and fighting with his parents though. Is Kushina rubbing Naruto's head in that brief shot or Minato's? Hard to tell. Either way, I want to see this.

For ventus20, Viz and Fathom Events will do special anime screenings in big theatre chains from time to time. But if this one ever gets play in theatres, it will be in an extremely limited basis.

But hey, with talk of Toonami coming back there's always hope that maybe Cartoon Network could work out a new licensing deal to get Naruto Shippuden back on American TV and that could give it a little extra juice. But that's extremely wishful thinking on my part ;) . When CN did have Naruto they did play just about all the movies as I recall.

Interesting. Between that and the apparent presence of Naruto's living parents, Road to Ninja would basically shape up to be a what-if story where everything in Naruto's life goes right for him. Since it's a Naruto movie he still has to be an awesome hero, but as a concept it's interesting territory to explore. He'd grow up in a dramatically different way like this.

Again, it seems like it's shaping up to be a thing where all the cool Naruto characters get together to save the world with courage and friendship and the will of fire...if they do it right I really do think this could be the most fun Naruto movie by a mile.

Very interested in seeing how this pans out, although I have to wonder how the ending isn't going to pretty much shape up to be what we'll get in the comic and TV series.

Oh well, bring on Naruto and Sasuke teaming up again!

Pet theory: they won't use Kabuto. By focusing on Mask Madara & maybe other Akatsuki and/or original villains instead, and bam. You have a very different war.

Come to think of it, for all we know Orochimaru is still alive in this setting.....

...This is having me wonder if the six paths of Pain/Nagato are still alive in this universe then.

Ah, sharp, sharp. I guess that'll provide them with something to play with.

I wonder which animators they'll bring in for this movie and how it'll affect the TV series...

Um, I just randomly decided to click this link. Normally, I don't care about the Naruto movies at all, I've only seen the first three and they were all pretty bad. This, however, sounds really cool. I haven't read the manga since US Shonen Jump stopped running, so I've been out of the series for awhile. I kinda want Viz to just skip the next few movies and go straight to this one, or the Japanese Blu-Ray to have subs (Although this movie would have to be really good for me to buy that crazy expensive thing).
